Have you tried going shopping with your mom? You might have more input that way. I understand how you feel, though. I can't wait until I'm at my own place and don't have to worry about the food that other people buy.
In the meantime, I just try to avoid the kitchen.
I also know what it's like to have a thin boyfriend... although he's thin (or was thin before the school year ended) because he rides his bike 8 miles 2 days/wk and 16 miles 2 days/wk to get to school... in hilly Tallahassee. So when we eat together he always gives me huge portions that I can't handle but feel obligated to eat. A little trick I use... make him eat the rest when I realize I've had enough. His stomach is pretty much a bottomless pit.
So if your boyfriend wants ice cream... take a couple of bites and make him eat the rest.
