A diary I'll actually keep.

Given my need to weigh myself in the morning, I can report that today I was down a half a pound. Of course, why that couldn't have shown up yesterday, on my "official" weigh. grumble grumble. But, I'm not going to change it, just try to keep the whole loss thing going.
Small victories, I now weigh less clothed than I did when I started this whole thing.

This morning, poptarts, glass of milk to come, and a serving of peanuts.
Pierogies are likely for dinner, probably with a salad, then off to the dance. I love dances, especially ones with bands. I just need to make sure to make the paper hearts to update the Volunteer recognition boards.

I haven't done my exercise yet, but I plan on that later this afternoon (very soon)

And last night was exciting. I downloaded Angels Fall (Nora Roberts), as well as purchased the subscription so that I get the other 3 Lifetime Movies they made from her books in the next few weeks, as they come out. It's so exciting. And I even figured out how to get it to show up on my TV!

Good luck with today.

I just got caught up reading your diary & can't imagine having a cake around my house right now! I'd be soooo bad. I'm impressed that you have shown any restraint at all, especially a chocolate cake!

Ok I'm off to have one snackwell's devil's food cookie now that I am craving chocolate cake like a mad woman!

MoonGoddess
Sorry to make you crave cake. The cake is now gone, so I can stop writing about it.

So, last night was a great dance. There were even loads of people I'd never seen before, so we made money instead of losing like we have a tendency to do with our live band dances (I'm involved with the running of the sponsoring organization). That, and the balance was good, so I mostly only sat when I wanted to (sometimes there are a lot more follows than leads).

I had a about 3 slices of apple and 3 small pieces of cheese at the dance, avoided the cookies--which is fine.
Unfortunately, I needed milk, which means I stopped at Shortstop. Which means I caved and got a WGC with mushrooms and sweet peppers.

That's garlic bread with sauce and cheese and mushrooms and peppers. It's like a pizza on garlic bread (mmm, garlic, something I don't have enough of any more, since garlic before dancing with members of the opposite sex=really bad idea), and it rocks my world.
I did only get a single, though, and usually I would have gotten a double (twice the size) and wolfed the whole thing down. But it was 12:30 in the morning by the time I ate it. And I had the can of gingerale that's been staring me in the face (Though, normally, I would have gotten a 20oz cherry coke)

So as you can imagine, I was really relieved when I weighed myself this morning to find myself down another half pound. I guess I danced enough. I have to admit, I'm hoping I can lose (and maintain the loss of) another pound so I can be down to 145 by my weigh in on Friday. Still, it frustrates me to no end that I lost no weight last week, and as soon as my weigh day passes, then I'm dropping weight. Don't get me wrong, I'll take it. But now I have to wait until next Friday to really have anything reflect it, since I refuse to change tickers or anything like that on anything but an official weigh in.

So, this morning, I had a serving of peanuts, and I'm about to have some Cheerios with skim milk and a banana.

I'm thinking about trying to make my own refried beans (without any lard or a ton of oil). I have these corn tortillas that I bought, and I thought my healthier refried beans on a tortilla with cheese would be a good meal. We'll see how it goes...and tastes.

And I have dance practice this afternoon and we're doing the lift :D.

ho honeybunch - im really interested in this frozen fruit y0oghurt you make.
could you poss tell me how to make it? and is it just like icecream cos i crave ice cream so bad
and could i use non dairy yoghurt (would it work the same ) eg soya yoghurt

This is very close to what I was thinking of making for dinner tonight..Chicken burritos. I am going to boil the chicken and then shred it and cook it in the taco seasoning stuff. I also picked up some fat free refried beans and I plan to add that to the tacos. I will have to refrain from picking up some sour cream, but also pick up some veggies or something to put in it.

Yummmm. And with this, hubby has asked for queso and chips. WHich is Velvetta cheese and no bean chili cooked together. YUMMY!!!!

jeez you are all making me soo hungry! :p
but then i am getting ready for the traditional english sunday roast
wooooooooo
i made space in my calories intake today to let me have mashed potato with my evening meal. it is sooo good. mmmmmmmmm

My beans tasted good (but I added more salt to them than I originally intended to get them to taste that way, as well as some cumin, onion & garlic), and I resisted the urge to absolutely smother them in cheese (being a cheeseaholic, this is showing a lot of restraint). Of course, someone who isn't a cheeseaholic might disagree with me, but hey, for me it's a victory

As far as my frozen yogurt--I've just pureed the fruit in the blender, added the yogurt (nonfat), and threw it in the ice cream maker (You could probably just freeze it, though, and maybe stir it a few times during the freezing process). The only down side is, not being full of sugar, it has a lower freezing point and gets on the hard side, but if you take it out for while before you want to serve it, it softens up enough to scoop some out. I don't really have a recipe, I just sortof do what looks good (or tastes good, pre-freezing). If you wanted to add some sortof sugar substitute, I don't think it would freeze quite so hard, but I find it sweet enough without it, so I'd rather just deal with softening it up a little.

This being my second batch, I've only done this with fruit, but you may be able to find ways to do it with other things (like chocolate, for example), but one of the up sides for me is getting more fruit in, since I know I don't eat enough of it. And it's enough like ice cream that it satisfies my craving for it.

I'm not sure about the non-dairy thing, but I don't think it would hurt to try it. Maybe try a smaller batch first (like a cup or 2) and see how it works. I would think it would be fine, though.

thankyou :) i will try it sometime in one of my free lessons - its actually i really good way to disguise a portion of fruit - there are just some of those times where i cant face another piece of fruit - especially in the morning - i get terrible carb craves for things like sugarry cereals.

I felt like this weekend was a success, since I didn't eat too much like last weekend :). Go me!

This morning, I did my step aerobics (and got up early enough that the cat didn't even want to get up, he slept under the covers where I left him the whole time), had my slimfast on the way to work (which was trying to freeze on me--it's way too cold), then had PB&J on whole wheat for lunch with 1/2 cup cottage cheese & pineapple, wheat thins veggie crisps, and a cookie.

For dinner, probably the beans on tortillas w/cheese again.
I'm such a creature of habit.

And tonight, laundry & cleaning will happen.

ladunry and cleaning are great exercise. just stick on some loud musci and dance about a bit while you do it.always works for my chores

Well, I got most of the cleaning done last night. I'll consider that progress.

This morning it was really hard to get out of bed early, but I did and got my dance-based aerobics in. I'm a little disappointed, as I've had it for less than a month, have only been doing it a few times a week, and it's already become too easy for me (I don't feel like I'm getting much out of it--compounded today by the fact that I was trying to be super quiet--I have a friend staying with me for a week or two while she's here for work) :(. At least the step aerobics is still getting me going, but I think doing that MWF, plus the body fusion step & weights on Sat or Sun, is enough of that. Eventually, I'll have to find a new routine for my alternate days. But for now it will have to wait.

I had my Slimfast on the way to work, and it didn't freeze, so it must be warmer.:)

Lunch will be Campbell's Italian Sausage with pasta & pepperoni soup (150 calories/cup--so 300 calories) plus a yogurt.

I'm getting a little tired of the beans and have limited time tonight, so dinner will either be a sandwich & some kind of side or my emergency meal--Marie Callendar's Salisbury Steak.

Tonight, I'm teaching an intro swing lesson and then dancing for 2 hours.

Note to self: "Self--remember to make a playlist & find the ipod dock and remote for the lesson" It's definitely easier to teach people to dance when you have music.

I added a homemade pretzel and a half a cup of rice pudding onto what I ate yesterday--the pretzel before I left, the rice pudding when I got home
.
The lesson went well, and I had a good night dancing (it was an on night :)), with a few good dips (I love being dipped--and it temporarily gives me the feeling that I can't be that heavy).

This morning, I did my step aerobics, then had my slim fast for breakfast.

Lunch will be rosemary ham on whole wheat with a slice of colby jack and light mayo, wheat thins veggie crisps, half cup cottage cheese w/ pineapple, and a cookie. And one of my coworkers gave me a brownie this morning and I ate that as well--I have no willpower when it comes to coworkers giving me brownies, but at least it was small.

Dinner will probably be beans & cheese on tortillas. I really want sour cream, though.

Then 3-4 hours of dance type stuff tonight. Tonight, though, I'm going to try not to have the rice pudding after I come home (though I might have it before I go). The eating late at night can't be good.

Tomorrow is my sleep in day. I can't wait.

No exercising this morning, which meant I got to sleep until 6:45--bliss.

I had my slimfast this morning on the way to work, and brought French Onion soup (mmm, onions. I love onions, but avoid them on days I go dancing, which means I don't get to eat them very much), nonfat raspberry yogurt, and wheat thin veggie crisps.

It's 100 calories in 2 cups of soup, 120 calories for the yogurt, and another 120 for the wheat thins, plus 190 for breakfast so...530 calories so far today through lunchtime.

My houseguest is making me dinner--pasta & meatballs (made with 90% lean ground beef) with some of her grandmother's homemade sauce that she brough with her. I'll add a sprinkling of parmesan cheese, and try to make sure I have a salad. And I have Montana Sky to look forward to watching.

I may have the rest of the peach frozen yogurt tonight, and freeze the cherry (I know I said I was going to do that over the weekend, but it still hasn't happened).

I'm officially down to 145:D

I don't feel like I can see a difference yet, but I know I feel better (more fit, able to dance longer, can do my aerobics more without huffing & puffing quite so much).

I actually had the salad--go me!--about 4 romaine leaves, grated carrots, grape tomatoes, and 2 tbsp light 4 cheese ranch. I also had a soft pretzel when I got home as a snack. And after the movie I had about a cup of the frozen yogurt last night, and there's still about another cup left.

I need to get to the store, so I had a Nature Valley granola bar for breakfast-the fruit & nut trailmix variety for 140 calories.

Lunch is:
Natural organic Peanut butter (2tbsp) and
Blackberry jam (1tbsp) on
2 slices whole wheat 12grain bread with
1 serving Reduced fat wheat thins,
1/2 cup cottage cheese with
3 slices natural raspberry flavored canned peaches, drained

And to top it off, a cookie (homemade chocolate chip w/walnuts)

Dinner will probably be those stupid beans again (next time I need to make half a bag instead of the whole thing) on corn tortillas w/cheese. I'll probably have something with it, but not sure what yet. And tonight is a dance w/a live band, so dancing from about 8:30 or 9 until midnight.

Congrats on the weight loss -another milestone met and ticked off :)
You will begin to see the difference soon -espesh in photos and with clothing - you probs just cant see it cos it hapens so gradually - you see yourself everyday afterall!!
and well done for making good choices (the salad) - i love nature valley granola bars but unfortunately its ts the high calorie ones that i like - i cant get any other lower clorie sorts from any of the shops here in england.
have a good time at the dance - dancing burns off loads of calories!

I've been so busy this weekend I haven't posted at all, so here's the recap:

Friday I did not have beans. Instead I had 2 breaded fish fillets (baked) and 5 pierogies. Then (oh boy) they had these great deserts at the dance on Friday from Sarah's Patisserie, so...
I had this amazing chocolate coffee something, with gold leaf on top, a cream puff, a chocolate covered strawberry (but it was small), a little cup of lemon mouse (like a shot glass) and a little cup of this chocolate & peanut butter mouse. I couldnt' help it.

Then, Saturday, I had 2 granola bars, one each for breakfast & lunch. Dinner was free, thanks to work--Chicken Parm (probably about half a breast), salad, pasta & tomato sauce (about .5 cup or so), a 20 oz pepsi (I haven't had soda in ages) and then I had a lemon bar and a piece of raspberry chocolate cheesecake (both were about 3/4"x2.5"). I danced for 3 hours that night, then had a pizza bagel w/pepperoni, mushrooms and garlic at about 12:30pm. The after dance ravenous time period really kills me.

Yesterday, I had 2 eggs scrambled for breakfast w/ 1oz Colby jack cheese, 1/4c salsa, 2 cups of OJ, and a piece of whole wheat toast with a little bit of spread.

I had a shot glass size serving of the choc mousse from Friday, and another one of those decadent chocolate coffee cake things with a glass of skim milk while giving myself a paraffin hand treatment.

Then I danced for about 2 hours (and went up in the air! Yay, lift), came home and had beef stew (almost 3 cups) plus a piece of whole wheat bread with a little spread. And 2 cookies.

It was a bad weekend, since being so active just made me really hungry all the time. Plus, being so busy means I didn't get my regular exercise in, just dancing:(.

So, this morning I made sure I got up to do my exercise (35 minutes Step aerobics).
I had a Slimfast on the way to work, then a serving of wheat thins, ham (about 5 thin slices) and a 1oz slice of colby jack on 2 slices of whole wheat bread with a little under 1tbsp light mayo, and a strawberry nonfat yogurt.

I'm having dinner at the Nines (really good deep dish pizza) while my good friend who's staying with me is still in town. And I'll probably have a beer or a mixed drink, so hopefully I can refrain from snacking before dinner. Then I'll probably dance for an hour or 2.

Okay, so...
Last night I had 3/8 of a deep dish pie with spicy chicken and spinach--and it was worth all the sin. I also had 2 beers (they had a Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale--it was so yummy)

I also danced a bit, and then walked home.

This morning, I did my dance-based aerobics (45 min), then had my slim fast on the way to work, and am having Campbell's Healthy Choice Italian Wedding Soup w/reduced fat wheat thins for lunch.

I'll update later with dinner (I don't have a clue what I'm going to have at this point)

Hi honeybunch, gosh I feel like I should know you better to call you that ;) - haha. Love the avatar :) Congrats on hitting the 145 mark - keep up the hard work. Don't worry about splurging a little yesterday - it's okay from time to time. I find it hard to tell myself how often time to time is! SOunds like you get good workouts from dancing - I WILL try swing dancing one day it sounds like so much fun!
