I love running and walking too and good shoes are imperative. You really should try New Balance. They have incredible shoes and if you go to an actual running store where they speicalize in these shoes, they will actually make sure you have proper fitting shoes for your activity. You may pay a little more for your shoes, but they are really worth it. I easily spend between $75 and $120 on sneakers every 3 or 4 months. But I have really bad feet and need good shoes to keep them from killing me!!!! Trust me, good shoes are very important!!!! BTW ....YOUR DOING AWESOME!!!!!

Oh spelin, you're right about the shoes - I will look into a higher quality.

I just put in 4.4 miles, it's less then I wanted, but I figured I'd try for faster times :)

I'm gone for the day, hope you guys have a great Friday!

Wow M2M--I love the way you keep going and going and going. You're like the energizer bunny of this board. Thanks for helping to keep my diary going even when I wasn't posting :)

You are a walking machine M2M!!! Way to go ;) Exercise is so important, and its great that you have a walking buddy. Welcome to the forum Denise ;)

Keep up the great job, and you will be at your mini goal before you know it :)

M2M... She just keeps going and going and going and going.... ;)

Woo Hoo!! And now I'm going to go and go and go and gooooo!

Bob and Megan came home tonight, and while all standing in the kitchen, Bob asked me, "How many miles did you walk today?" I told him. He then asked "How many miles did you walk yesterday?" I told him, and then I asked what was he getting at...

...at that point, Megan opens her jacket, and there she is hiding an iPod Nano!!

Woo HOOOOO!!
Bob is ripping some Dave CD's for me right now and will have a play list for me by morning!

I ran to Target and bought an arm band for it :D

I can't WAIT to walk tomorrow!

How sweet are they????? That is just the nicest thing. They really are so supportive of you and from the sounds of it very proud as well. I know that must mean so much to you.

From a post of yours in another diary...

I'm a chocolatey, cheesey, salty, bready kind of gal all rolled into one

You are MY kind of woman!!!!! I knew there was a reason I liked you so much. See it's not just because of your Bag O' Food.

Hope you have a terrific weekend, and enjoy your walk with your brand spanking new ipod nano!!!!

Hello ffrom Determined Denise

Hi Deb,

You lost 1 lb. In what time frame? That's great. I am getting on the scale this morning to see how much I weigh. Hopefully, it's less than my starting weight since I haven't been the scale in some time.

Hopefully, I'll see you on Monday at "T" Street, but I'll be chatting with you before that.

I just read your past couple of posts. That is so cool of Bob for getting you that. What a sweetheart.

Denise

So cool on the Ipod as a present !! now you have to ditch your walking buddies to enjoy it !!! lol. (kidding)

I have about a 1200 song playlist and winzip, just ask. ;)

Glad to see your still kickin' tail.

Hi Everyone!!
I had a GREAT morning :D :D

I walked 3.3 miles up a gradual grade into the 'heart' of my town. One of my closest friends lives there, and she happened to be out walking her dog - she was SHOCKED to see me waving like a mad woman at her ;)

It took me 1 hour to go 3.3 miles up, and it took me 40 minutes to come the 3.3 miles home! What a difference down a grade makes ;) 6.6 miles is by far, the furthest I've walked at one time yet! I LOVE MY IPOD!!

I only had one cd downloaded to it by the time I left this morning, but that's ok, bob has now ripped about 15 hours of Dave and I can add more. I can't tell you how embarrassing this is going to be - I was walking, singing, drumming AND you can not hear people coming up behind you.

Oh man, I looked like an idiot, but I LOVED it!!

T2, A 1200 song play list??? OMG, how long did that take you to acquire?
I love Dave Matthews, 60's Rock, Dave Mathews, early 70's Rock, Dave Mathews, '80s, Dave Mathews, Jazz, DM, Blues, did I mention I love DMB?
:D I would love to look at your play list!

Scarlett - isn't it funny - we've been all about the food ;) Salty, cheesy, bready, chocolatey...now, I want to taste it all, but I don't need to keep eating and eating. It feels SO good to see progress doesn't it?!

Denise - Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing you at TStreet!

My calories for yesterday were 1130 - and here's my weekly address:
7/29 4.7 miles 1159 cs
7/30 4.6 miles 1175 cs
7/31 3.3 miles 1610 cs
8/01 0 miles 1135 cs
8/02 4.7 miles 1425 cs
8/03 2.3 miles 1085 cs
8/04 4.4 miles 1130 cs

I walked a total of 24 miles (down from 35 last week!) and had an average of 1246 calories a day for the week.

I get to move my ticker - I was 214 this morning!
Woo Hoo!

This weight is MOVING outta here!!

I'm such a dork....your iPod surprise got me a little teary--it must feel so nice to know that you have such great support in your endeavors!

*wipes a tear* :)

Wow, Deb that's amazing. You must be so excited about your weight loss. You are my inspiration. Keep up the good work.

Determined Denise

Awww, I love your little family! Between the ipod and your daughter making you do her exercises, I might have to come and get that little kid!

Hope you're having a great weekend. Rock on!

Congrats on the poundage lost!

How are you? I walked 4 miles this morning with a friend. It wasn't at a fast pace, but who the heck cares....I was out doing it. We are walking tomorrow as well. Did I say we met at 6:00 am? Yikes. It was awesome though to walk in the quiet of the day. Did you walk?

Good Morning Everyone :D

Yesterday, I went out and bought some New Balance shoes - I can't say as I felt a huge difference in them today compared to my last pair, but I barely got a month of use (and about 125 miles) out of them and they were cracked across the bottom.

I finished yesterday with about 1065 calories and I walked 6.5 miles today - have I mentioned I LOVE MY IPOD!?!

Pineola - thanks, the family really has been sweet and supportive. I guess I was so surprised considering how long it took for them to notice ;)

Denise, yay!! Good for you for getting out there and walking!! 4 miles is *excellent*

My daily walking partner (Betsy) comes home from vacation on 10 August, 4 more days! She's been gone since 21 July :( I can't wait for her to come back. I walk close to 2 miles before meeting up with her, and at least another 1 mile after we separate, so I'll still have iPod time ;)

Denise, you're still going to meet us at TStreet tomorrow? I'll be sitting between the snack bars & the bathroom and I should be there by noon ISH depending on parking.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday :D

Thought For The Day

I may have mentioned my love for Dave Matthews and his band...

The last song of my walk this morning was _Cry Freedom_

The best line of the song...

The future is no place
To place your better days

God I love that!

Carpe Diem My Friends!

Great to see you doing well! Your family is so keen - music always helps pump up the motivation for me, I'll have to download some DMB - not too sure if I recognize anything...? - it really helps up the tempo of everything you do as well. Great quote - keep up the inspiration! NAT
