Greetings everybody,

Originally I had these posted at another weight-loss forum which has since gone too dead/quiet for my liking. Before I post my pictures, I will say a little bit about myself.

I am turning 23 this September, and I have had weight issues since a very, very young age. I actually haven't been in the 100's since before puberty, the lowest ever achieved was 203 in my teens. Generally I was between 210-220 in high school, but when I graduated and went to college, stress+not knowing how to eat made my weight skyrocket to a horrifying 293. Probably higher, actually, but for a long time I didn't have means to way myself.

After a few uh, emotional bitch-slaps from myself, I started on the way to losing weight around late 2006/early 2007. At first I went pretty slow, but when my love had problems with my weight, I kicked it into high-gear.

Anyways, here are the pictures, I know nobody cares about my ramblings!

At the time I didn't have my phone charger so I couldn't take a full body picture...so I took one a few days ago here, when I was down to 199.

My current goal is to lose 9 more lbs, and when I do, I will reset my goal to 165 lbs, which should be optimal and lovely for my build/height.

So, I will post my updates here, and I hope people who are struggling with weight-loss will get some hope from seeing these.

wow, well WTG on the loss! i'm impressed!!! I do have to mention though, didn't you say in another thread that you only eat 800 cals a day??? thats very unhealthy and it concerns me.

Yes, I only eat that much. I have been eating that way since about February of this year, I think. Sometimes I eat more, like 900-1200. Don't worry though, I am actually pretty healthy. I eat plenty of fruit and veggies on the side of that so I still get my nutrients, and I drink plenty of water and get some exercise when I can. It's what works best for me. :)

I can't get over how some people lose weight and even their face looks completely different. You look amazing!!

Yeah, thank goodness for that!

Since I haven't been any less fat since I was a young age, I really have no idea what my face is going to look like. o_o

Oh wow, you look gorgeous! Such a difference! Good luck with your next goal.. I'm sure you'll be there before you know it. :)

Great results! Your low calorie count is a bit concerning; I wonder how long you will be able to (healthfully) sustain it?

Wishing you continued success and good health,
ABBA

Thanks, guys!

I will explain a bit about what I have done from start to the current situation, since people seem concerned with my health, but I feel fit as a fiddle. (Do fiddles even FEEL fit? lol.)

When I started losing weight, I often would eat cabbage soup for 3 days or so at a time. It was pretty good for hydrating my body and getting rid of water weight, and also gave lots of good nutrients and I could feel a bit of a boost in energy. I often did this once a week for a few months.

I will say also that as a digital artist, I truly don't have too much time to exercise, especially back then. However, I would make better choices for locomotion - park a ways from whatever store, and just not be lazy about things like that. Take stairs, blah blah.... However, Last summer I did go to the gym for about a month and a half, 3 days a week. Towards the middle of that, I could run 2 miles in 17 minutes. However, I had to cancel because I went to stay in Finland for 3 months, and when I came back, the gym was..uh, gone. Lol. (This was also during a period I stayed with my brother to babysit, so I had time while they were at school.)

For this entire duration, I put my calories goal at about 1200, but many times, I ended up eating 1500-1800, so I wasn't losing as quickly as I should, even though I tried to get in some tae bo and stuff.

Currently, this is what I started as of January. Obviously this is not for everybody - everyone's body is different, and what might work well for my type won't be good for yours at all.

I began to only eat 800 calories, generally 1-2 meals a day from that, or 1 meal and a snack later. The first week and a half it hurt my tummy pretty bad. Back then, I imagined I would only do this type of eating for a month or two. However, after that first period, the pain went away as my stomach shrank back to a smaller size. I generally lose about 2-3 lbs per week by doing this, which is still at a healthy rate of loss. I feel no hunger pains, I do not get shaky, nor do I get hunger headaches or feel any bad effects from eating this way, and if my body is REALLY craving some nutrient (as long as it's not junk food) I eat a little more, sometimes up to 1200 calories. I also eat veggies and fruit even if I reach that mark, and other negative calorie foods.

This is basically my typical array of foods.

The bulk of it consists of: Pasta, Rice, Tuna and other seafood, Chicken (fat removed, I try to stay with chicken breasts.) Veggies, fruit, and occasionally yogurt, and soups. (In finland I also drink a lot of vitamin-infused juice. They don't have this brand in america though. =\)
I also make sure to treat myself to: Eggs, potatoes, the occasional bread, and some other meats and a handful of walnuts.

I have replaced all my sugar drinks with their 0 calorie alternatives - equal in my iced tea (Which I drink through out the day) and coke zero or pepsi max instead of normal soft drinks, though I don't drink them often anymore.

I also stay away from oily, fatty foods for the health of my gallbladder.

Today, I think I will have some rice in cheese sauce with broccoli and cauliflower, with a little chicken. ;D

To some people on here, eating such low portions like that may indeed seem unhealthy, and I used to think that way too, which is why I used to eat more. I used to think if I ate low calories, I would GAIN weight from "starvation mode". (Which is a reason why I probably wasn't losing it very fast in the first place) I plan to eat around 1300-1500 when I get to my goal weigt of 160-165, though.

ANYWAYS. Sorry for the wall of text. That is what I do, though! Again, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody, especially if you exercise a lot. I, however, don't do it much, though I do ab work outs now on an ab-lounge thing I got as a present. It's quite a lovely little device. My body type is of a more medium/large build, with slow metabolism, but even though I don't exercise often, I am quite strong and steadfast. ;D

Also, the most important thing I ever did.....research what foods should go into my mouth and what I was already putting in there, and keep track of my calories. VERY IMPORTANT.

And that's about all. <3

And while I know some of you may stay concerned about my low calories...for me, I believe it is healthier to eat little, than to weigh more. =x

Wow, you look awesome

Just wanted to say that you pictures were very inspiring for me and you've done so well, you look amazing

Looks amazing!! :)

I'm curious though, how tall are you? I am aiming for 200 lbs at the moment, but I can't imagine to look anywhere close to what you look like at that weight....but it certainly got my hopes up a little....:)

Your pictures do look great and I too would like to congratulate you on the weight loss to date.

I am still really concerned as to how you can possibly be ticking all your nutitional boxes on 800 calories a day.
At 199 pounds which I think is your current weight - I would imagine that you should be looking for
100g protein
25g fibre
1000mg calcium
some healthy fats
I really am concerned as to whether you are getting enough protein, calcium or healthy fats. I would imagine the fibre is good if you are filling up on fruit and veg - but this is not always the case.

You should be able to lose weight really well on a lot more calories and tick those boxes. I would hate to think that you were depriving yourself nutritionally.

I am about 5'8" ( 173 cm ) and I have a mediumish build. (Thick bones xD)

I am really glad to hear that my pictures are giving you guys hope. When I first started too, and went looking at before and after pictures, they got me really pumped as well to see how big of a difference people can have happen. :D

And, I probably am not getting enough calcium, but that is more so because drinking milk makes my stomach upset. I do indulge myself in yogurt, though. =x Also, I do have a big box of multivitamins for that, I just haven't bothered to open it yet.

I understand why some people would be concerned, but it's kind of making me feel like I am getting lectured too much. There is more than one way to lose weight, and this is what happens to work best for me. When I compare the risks, I would much rather continue eating the way I do now and continue losing the weight, than suffer the horrible risks of being overweight/obese. Eating little like I do can be remedied with multivitamins, should I need them.

I respect that all everyone is doing is showing concern and offering their advice and wisdom, and I do respect your opinions very much, but you are only beating a dead horse by insisting I change the way I eat, because I won't do it. :) I am careful with my body, it's the only one I have! Just trust that I know what is best for me. <3

Congrats to you! You look amazing. I've strayed from my plan over this weekend...went camping and old habits came back. But I know I have not felt this unwell since I started my plan in Jan, so it reinforces me that what I'm doing is the best thing in every way. The junk makes me feel sick, and I think you're pictures today will help me stick it out and get through the day. Everytime I eat bad food, I crave it then...so wish me luck to get through this rough spot! I'm 62lbs down...I know I can get to ONEDERLAND someday!! Thanks again.

Wow, you manage to look like that at 5"8 and 205 lbs? You lucky girl!!! :)

I'm 5"10 (and a half to be exact) with a rather large bone structure (not an excuse, my doctor said so!!), so looking at your pictures at 205 really are inspiring!!

I do understand why you feel lectured by a lot of people saying you should eat more and stuff like that, but really, they are just concerned and mean well. That said, as long as you feel okay, not feeling weak or sick or anything like that, and as long as you are not starving hungry at all times, I guess you're okay.

The only thing I would suggest - and it's only that, a suggestion, not a lecture - write down what you eat in a typical day, and figure out the amount of calcium, protein and things like that, and check if you get what you need. If not, take some supplements. Don't just let them sit in a box somewhere....it's usually just one a day (or maybe two, depending on what you take) and it's well worth it.
