6'5 SKINNY. Need more weight.

Hi.
I'm 6'5 about 161 lbs. 21 male.
I have a fast metabolism. Anything I eat, I usually don't gain anything.
Eating wise.. I'm sort of picky but coming around on some things. I usually eat a lot of junk food..as it doesn't add on. Why not eat the tasty stuff! ;)
I'd say I don't eat A LOT but an avg amount of food.

I play a lot of basketball. Which could be part of the reason I'm so skinny. Not eating 7k calories a day and then playing a few hours of bball. I wouldn't say I'm flimsy but not certainly not stacked up.
I've never really worked out consistently or at all. Just play a lot of bball.
I've started doing some push ups at home, in-between things. Do 10-15, go back to what I was doing until a break or pause, then another 10-15. ect.
I see some results but nothing major since I don't do it everyday.

What I'm getting at is I'd like to gain some weight (more muscle then fat atleast if possible haha.)

Don't really go the gym to work out. Just ball and go home since I'm usually tired. And sort of embarrassed lifting light weights with everyone there.
Is there anything I can do around the house type stuff to maybe get a little thicker, then possibly working out at the gym. More push-ups? hah.

Any tips appreciated. :)

P.s. Sorry if all this is jumbled up. Had a lot on mind before typing but then didn't know how to place it all.
And if it's in wrong section of forums. sorry! XD

In order to build muscle, you will have to gain some weight. To do so you're going to have to take in more calories than you burn. Obviously, the more active you are, the more calories you will burn. Really, it doesn't matter what you can lift, everyone has their own goal and won't judge as most people have been where you are. I started out at 5'10" 135 benching the bar (somewhat), and now I'm up to a fairly lean 185 lbs. I was a little guy. I didn't know what I was doing in the gym at first. I had moments where I thought everyone was watching the little guy trying to move some iron. It's not a big deal. In the end I realized that everyone has their own personal goals, especially when I saw big guys that weren't afraid to lift small weights in order to more reps. I realized that their goals were more important than their ego.

Having said that, if you simply feel ashamed no matter what, you may resort to your workout equipment at home. Go to Google and type in scooby's workshop. That dude has a lot of at home workouts, and is actually in great shape and doesn't have a gym membership.

Bro, I know your pain. I'm 6'5, haven't seen a dr. for about a year, and my pants don't really fit like they used to, so I might actually be 6'6, and I currently weigh 215. I used to be in the SAME PLACE as you. Hated bein skinny. I stayed outta the gym for the same reason, didn't want people to see me lifting P*ssy weights" haha. So you know what I did? I did what you've been doing: kept being a victim. And I kept doing it until I got tired of it last summer. How? I MADE myself eat more, and I MADE myself lift. At the gym. Where people could see me. It was a self loathing experience. I hated the hell out of it. I used that hate. I used it at the gym. I used it on those weights. I kept at it. I knew what I wanted to look like and I knew that I wouldn't get there by being shy and undedicated. I'm telling you now, if you don't hate the gym, I mean absolutely HATE the gym when you go there and even more when you leave (in the beginning), you're probably doing it wrong, brother. It'll suck. It will. And you know that, which is why you've stayed away for so long. But I'm telling you, as a fellow 6'5"+, if you really wanna look good, it's worth it. I look DAMN GOOD bro. When I go to the beach, I ***** you not, the women like what they see. Now I know that you're a gentle giant, I can smell our our own =D So if you keep that attitude, AND you hit the gym like you should, put some serious muscle on, you'll be UNSTOPPABLE. It can be done. The hardest part is going, consistently. Oh, and I did this without protein supplements, which was the best part. My ultimate goal is 265, and this summer I'm about to start using protein to get there. I'd personally advise you to use protein just to make it easier and to speed it up. But make sure you lift, I don't know how your metabolism works, probably as good as mine, if not better, but just in case, just so you don't get a nasty gut. You don't want that bruh! So good luck brother, and get that ass in the Gym ASAP. Yeah, you'll look like a punk in the beginning, but what are people gonna say after you've been going for a while and you're putting up more weight than they are? Us big guys, we are physically capable of more than the smaller guys, remember that.
