Hi Everyone,

I started at 199, now down to 145. I'm 5'3. I've went from a size 14 to a size 7. I notice a big difference all over, even my tummy but, I'm still very unhappy with the fat tummy pouch I have. I haven't worn a bikini in five years and when I started my weight loss journey I made a promise to myself that I'd be in a bikini by this summer but, I know that my body is not bikini worthy yet and probably won't be this summer which make me disappointed however, I am very proud of how far I have come and I do see changes (I never knew how much willpower I had), I just hoped to have seen more changes in my midsection by now. My tummy looks really odd......almost like I just had a baby which I have not, I've never had children. I just don't understand why I have this huge fat belly thats is incredibly out of proportion with the rest of my body. I recall my belly being the first place I gained weight so I'm suspecting it will be the last place I lose it. I remember being about 125 and having a poochy belly, wussup with that!?

I was working out five days per week but, I just moved from Virginia to Michigan so, with all the stuff going on with the move I hadn't worked out for almost two months since moving here until a few days ago. I eat very healthy, well balanced meals. I work out every part of my body (including lot's of crunches on the swiss ball and leg raises) and it's no sissy workout! :p I'm very enthusiastic about my workouts! I do drink beer once in a while (once every two or three weeks) but, other than beer, I drink NOTHING but, water (at least ten glasses per day).

I'm frustrated about the belly........I know it will go away eventually but, summer is almost here and there is no sign of it shrinking drastically anytime soon and it bugs me that I will be spending yet another summer in a tankini. I hate to sound so negative but, the belly is just so bothersome. :flame:

I don't have any regrets at all, I feel so much healthier and confident. It's been worth all the sweat and I will never turn back to my unhealthy ways. I almost can't believe I used to treat my body in such an awful way!

I'd appreciate any advice.......and please don't say cut out beer all together, I'm aware that beer isn't great for me but, one can't be perfect 24/7 :)

Thanks for stopping by :D

UPDATE (SAT 24TH MAY): I bought a bikini today. I WILL be in a bikini this summer, yeah maybe it will be a month or so away but, I WILL be in a bikini,no more hiding m body. This battle has been stepped up a notch :p

belly fat goes away very slowly, especially the pooch in the front. Plus for people like me and you who have lost a great deal of weight in a relatively short time, we have that loose skin. You just have to keep shedding weight AND maintaning the muscle you have now. I can see a difference in my stomach with every 2 pounds I lose now. It wasn't like that before...sure, I lost inches off my belly back when I was heavier, but the overall shape wouldn't change.

Another thing. I know you're doing crunches, but are you doing upper body and lower body weight training using sufficiently heavy weights? Those are way more important to you at this point. I'd focus on your abs after you lose the weight around them. I very rarely do ab exercises. Once a week, if I remember to. I'm not saying don't do them, just don't waist too much of your workout energy on them

I've been taking CLA for the past couple of months also. I can't really testify as to how much of an impact they've had on my fat lose, but do some research on it and see if it suits you. I take about 4.5-6.0 grams a day.

You look great BTW. The dimples on your obliques are a good sign of things to come :D

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and reply :waving: Thanks for the compliment!

Nope, can't say I've ever taken C.L.A, I've always been quite wary of diet pills and such. The only think I take is whey protein after my workouts.

I do upper and lower body weight training.

I know that someday I'll have a pretty flat stomach but, patience has never been a virtue that I have possessed. :p If the fat on the midsection was more evened out I wouldn't be so concerned about it.

When you hit your goal weight, I can only imagine that stomach will be melted off. Keep doing the abs with all your other stuff. I can only imagine that constantly working your abs (along with your other body parts of course), your going to have a awesome stomach (strong too) to show off when you get your body fat percentages down.

Also, I understand your not pumped about summer being here, and you can't wear your bikini. You got to use that for motivation! When your in the gym, make it piss you off. You will fly through your workout without even thinking your doing it on adrenaline alone.

An Inspiration to all...

Joey,
You look amazing - I am on my way to my own weight loss journey and we had very similar stats I started at 205 no I weigh about 188. You look so good and gorgeous. Think of it this way - Next year you will have your perfect bikini bod and right now you have a perfect takini bod, isnt that better then a one peice body or a shorts and t shirt body? Losing weight is so hard it is any every day sturggle. You need to appreciate and congradulate your self. Mind over matter. Think beautiful and you will feel beautiful. :) Well Good luck - toning the tummy is tough but not imposible! Check out my progress I think you will see similarties in our body shapes.
:)
My before and after blog is :

Thanks for the response Amanda and the kind words :) I know I will have a decent tankini body but, I just feel so bummed that I will spend yet another summer hiding my tummy.

I previously checked your post out, congrats on your own loss, very nice changes. I only wish the updated pics were a little bigger.

congrats on your progress, you look amazing!

I'm in the same boat with you about the stomach, but I'm trying to be patient.

Thank you :) I'm hoping the belly fat goes away on both of us although your pics show you don't have much or is the shirt hiding your pooch? :p

I have increased my cardio as of today. I'm hoping to see significant changes soon.

First of all, let me say that you look really good. First be thankful for changing your body and health for the better. I think your belly is looking pretty darn good and will be in bikini shape within a couple of months if you keep it up. We are actually a month away from the first day of summer today so I don't think it would be impossible for you to feel comfortable in a bikini this coming summer.

I have increased cardio and will take a picture again in two weeks and see if much has changed.

Thank you! And thank you to Vickialess & rivardk also. :)

It took me almost a year, I know thats pretty slow but, I had breaks from working out in between, I moved across the country and didn't work out for two months, besides doing some lunges and abs at home and walking my dog.

Right now I'm at 146, the scale has went up slightly but, I can only assume thats muscle mass since I still eat as healthy as ever and have just started back at the gym and have been really working out hard.

I feel fantastic! :hurray:
