50 lbs Down & 50 to Go!

50lbs in 11 weeks?! Congrats, that's amazing!! Pictures definitely would be great, but I understand if that's something you don't want to do. :)

Yeah how about some pictures?

Pictures? How do you post pictures?

I wasn't too keen on having my picture taken when I was over 300, I have some recent photos from LA that aren't too bad but I am still 50 pounds from my goal.

If I can maintain an average of 5 pounds lost a week I will meet my goal.

This new rotation alternating 1200 and 1500 calorie days is something I can do long term. Frankly 3 days straight of only 1200 calories was not something that I could do long term.

This week I am alternating 1800 and 1500 calories. I am hoping to lose 3 or more pounds on this rotation. Time will tell.

Yes Time will Tell.

Hi, Free, it sounds like you're doing great on this plan. Congrats on the 50 lbs lost. That is so fantastic. I actually own this book and have planned to start it in the past, but kept getting sidetracked by other diets. I'm back to this one now, because it seems like it makes a lot of sense. I am hoping to lose about 50 lbs total. I am 175 now and would like to get back down to 125. I will be starting my 1st rotation tomorrow, Sunday, July 17th. I can't wait to actually try it and see how it works for me.

BTW, did you lose the 50 lbs on this Rotation diet plan?

I lost the bulk of the 50 lbs on my modified rotation diet. I was on Katahn's diet for about 2 weeks then I began modifying it. Both diets work, I lost 78 lbs on Katahn's diet 10 years ago, I just customized it to work better for me.

Binged and gained a pound, but I am still down 50 lbs. so I am glade of that. I am on 1500 calories today. I am going to avoid lifting and just walk, row and cycle an see if I can take that pound gained off.

It will be interesting to see if you still lose weight on 1500 calories. The binges are really slowing your progress.

Yes, the binges have hurt but I am in this for the long haul. I will continue to diet until I have lost another 50.

Lost 1 lb. on 1500 calories and 90 minutes of exercise (walking & rowing). I am very pleased to see that my new rotation is working.

Congratulations on the milestone! You make short work of it!

Thanks! It seems short but it sometimes seems like an eternity to me, especially when I look at the 49 lbs. to go, but I have tried to be disciplined and systematic. Sometimes I fail and binge and that has set me back. If not for the binges, I think I could have shed the 50 in 8 weeks on my new rotation. My weight loss seems to have slowed a bit. I suppose that is natural. I am shooting for a 50 weight loss in 8 weeks, but if it takes 12, I won't be disappointed.

My weight loss at 1500 calories has shown me that I can keep my metabolism up in the 2nd week by alternating between 1800 and 1500 calories so I have decided to get more aggressive in the 1200/1500 rotation weeks 1 and 3 and add another 1200 calorie day.

Here is my modification of the Rotation Diet:

1st Week:

Alternate between 1200 and 1500 calories for 7 days.

2nd Week:

Next 7 days 1800/1500 calorie alternation

3rd Week:

Alternate between 1200 and 1500 calories for 7 days.

4th Week:

Next 7 days 1600 increased by 100 calories
per day to 2200 calories per day

This is a 4 week rotation instead of the 3 week rotation of Katahn's Diet.

You have done it now. You have modified Katahn's diet so much you have made it almost unrecognizable. I hope it works for you.
