45lb bar vs 25lb bar

I use the 25lb bar to curl because of the grips but ive heard that the 45lb bar is better. Any suggestions or comments on ne of the bars?
 
Haha I heard that there is like an ez way to do a curl ie the 25 lb barb bcuz of the grooves and then theres the 45lb bar which is straight up and it does more dmg to the biceps becuase there straight up?
 
Most of the time the 25lb bar is the EZ curl bar, and the 45 is.. well.. and olymic style bar. Both work your biceps, just at different angels. I suggest using both.
 
according to EMG studies, here is a list of exercises for the biceps brachii with their corresponding number (% of IEMG MAX motor unit activation)- ie; the higher the number the more productive the exercise:

Biceps preacher curl (olympic bar-OB)-90
Incline seated dumbbell(db) curl (alternating)-88
Standing biceos curl (OB-narrow grip)-86
standing db curl (alternating)-84
concentration db curl-80
standing biceps curl (OB-wide grip)-63
standing e-z biceps curl (wide grip)-61

Is the OB just the 45lb bar? How would you do a preacher curl with a 45 lb bar?!?!? Otherwise I can do a preacer curl with the 25lb bar
 
My gym has 25lb straight bars...essentially just 4 foot long straight 'olympic style' bars, specifically for biceps and triceps exercises, as well as EZ bars.

OB is 45 pounds. But it's the nature or the shape of the bar (straight) that makes the difference.
I have read the same for tricep pushdowns; that a straight bar (like the one for lats) is more effective than a V bar or rope.
 
I have always found that Using straight bars on bicep curl, or tricep push down hurts my elbows.
It always feels natural doing it with a bent bar.
Should i change
 
I usually do my biceps with the EZ bar also because my right arm is slightly longer than my left...The straight bar usually bends my wrist the wrong way and ends up just hurting...otherwise I would do the OB curls...
 
Ahhh i c you need em both! I just switched from EZ to olympic style but ill mix it up now do 3X10 with straight bar then 3x10 with ez
