365 Days Wedding Weight Loss

Day 12/365

A typical post-fast day of not being able to turn down sugar!

I had chocolate with my coffee and a baby bell around 12pm. Around 300kcal in total.

Visited a family member who had cake on offer (yes, obviously). It was a small, shop-bought victoria sponge at 225 per serving. I do think I had the recommended serving size but will round this up to 250 just to make sure I have accounted for it.

For dinner I had a sausage (200 kcal) with a "slimbo" (a thin kind of soft ciabatta which is just under 100kcal), a small avocado and some cheddar cheese.

I had some gummy sweets, 250kcal, and a yogurt, 175kcal, while watching TV.

All in all around 1600kcal today, avoided white carbs (apart from the slimbo). Its 7pm now so I will start fasting and continue into tomorrow. I feel really full, I didn't need to eat all of that food today but happy that I haven't been in excess of my recommended intake.

Worked out this morning for around an hour. Feeling healthier for this.

Day 13/365

Another fast day where I didn't completely water fast. Happy enough though because I stayed under 250kcal so still in line with 5:2 guidelines.

Hasn't been too difficult and although its not over yet, writing this entry will close the chapter on today.

I'm glad you're being flexible and not beating yourself up for "only" doing better than Mosley's version rather than your own!

Mostly do you find it easier to do a water fast on the 2 days? Do you find your cravings are worse on NFD’s than before doing 5:2?

Thanks LaMaria, I have plenty of time and as mentioned before, its not the FDs that are prolonging my weight loss plateau, its the NFDs :)

Hi Cate, mostly yes I find it easier to water fast but I think it has been hard to control cravings on NFDs after a fast. I'm trying to be more conscious of my eating on NFDs and if that means eating a snack on a fast day then I think I might make more of a habit of that in future.

I found it really hard controlling my cravings after ‘fast’ days too & have been reluctant to go back to 5:2. It messes with my mind a bit. I’m glad it mostly works for you.

Completely agree with you cate, cravings on non fast days can be hard to avoid. Its something I'm trying to work on.

Hey R, do what you can to minimize the cravings. I find them impossible to completely eliminate, but have found ways to limit them. The fewer and less strong the better.

What's a "water fast"? Does that mean water only?

Good to see you keeping at it!

Hi again, yes water fast means just having water and not the "modified fast" as outlined by the 5:2 diet (allowing 500 calories would still be considered a fast according to 5:2). I tend to find water fasting easier than the modified fast because I'm not teasing myself with half a dinner!

Day 14 &15/365

By the Time I have been able to sit and write about day 14, day 15 has come to an end so I will write about both.

First of all, for the last few days I have weighed in at 132. It seems like I have lost 2lb and I have checked this a few times across the last few days and it looks to be the consistent number I'm seeing.

Secondly, I went to collect my wedding dress on Friday. It fit like a glove! I am so glad that I have ordered it so far in advance though because it took 6 months to make/deliver and when I tried it on this weekend there was a fault with the stitching. This means I have to wait 6 months for another new dress. I'm just happy that it fit and I loved it as much as I did 6 months ago when I first ordered it so I am content to wait again.

After my dress fitting/disappointment, my dad took me for lunch. I had 2 tapas. My mum came to my house with prosecco so I continued drinking for a few hours and then I had tomato soup for dinner. Day 14 didn't have much of a deficit BUT I don't feel like I binged/overindulged.

I did a very short work out on Friday - focused on abs and I definitely can feel the effects today!

Thay brings us to day 15 which has just ended. I had some Greek yogurt and then went for a hike with family. My fiancé's sister made us Thai food for dinner and I (again, I know) had wine. I feel like I didn't over do it with either food or wine so I am content with today.

Feeling positie and motivated,
R

Sounds to me like you're doing great. I do wonder how they can send out a wedding dress with faulty stitching: those things have couture prices and delivery times so you're allowed to expect couture quality. Wonderful that it's a lovely as you remember it though.

Hi LaMaria,.. I know. The consultant was a little embarrassed that he hadn't noticed it before I came to try it on and I am still a confused how something like that can happen, it was quite obvious when I had it on. Anyway, I have lots of time so I won't let it bother me but I can imagine if it were short notice I might be very disappointed/worried.

Day 16/365

Writing on here is helping me to realise what my barrier to losing these last 10-12 lb is: My partner and I LOVE to see our friends and family and usually that means dinner and drinks. AGAIN today a last minute decision to see friends at our local bar/restaurant. I had two cocktails. Did my best to keep dinner light with a goats cheese salad to start and salmon as the main course. Nowhere in Ireland can cook a salmon properly (it is always dry) so I hate to order it but it was the lightest option on the menu. Also, I do drink a lot. Every time I write here I feel like leaving out the alcohol I have consumed but I have to really own up and take it into consideration or I wouldn't be honest with myself. I hope I don't come accross like I have a problem but its just that in Ireland socialising usually means alcohol and at this point in my life I have the time and resources to socialise as much as I want so I need to address this.

Aside from tonight's dinner I had just under 500kcal so hoping I haven't exceeded my allowance today. :)

In Australia socialising includes lots of drinking too & is considered very normal & not drinking at all is considered odd. I usually don’t mention drinking wine in here & it took a week to say I am having a break from it as I know most rarely drink. I think it has put a couple of kilos on me during this year & is a barrier to getting down to my happy weight.

I’m glad you had that dress fitting early. When will you actually collect it?

Yes, actually I remember reading somewhere that Australia competes with Ireland as the nations with the most alcohol consumption. It sounds from your diary like we are at similar points with our weight loss too, just those last few kilos. Probably the kilos that will be on again off again for the rest of our lives! I have been working from home since March and feel that I have had no responsibilities or reason to restrain if I feel like having a glass of wine so all discipline has been out the window for around 4 months now! Really looking forward to routine again.

I don't know when I will collect the dress... it could be as late as January next year!

My last 4 months have been similar. I’m glad I pulled myself up. I’ll always have to be vigilant with my weight, I know. I think I do better with a self-imposed routine so that’s what I will do from now on, forever. So be it :)

These are weird times all around. But it´s great that your diary has helped you identify one of the main culprits! Alcohol is very much expected when socializing here as well. Outside of it too, to be fair. I used to do home visits with people and there were plenty who´d have their 2-liter bottle of red wine out on the table at 10 am. And still wonder why they had balance issues...

Day 17 and 18/365

Yesterday I started well with a yogurt and a work out. M made me breakfast/lunch of 2 slices of buttered wheaten bread, avocado, bacon and poached eggs. If consulted I would have requested no wheaten but I who am I to criticise the chef so I ate it anyway and it was VERY worth it.

I think I must have got that feeling of oh well, since I've had carbs now I might as well write the whole day off.... 300calories worth of chocolate later and I'm having another slice of buttered wheaten promising myself that I'll go carb free at dinner. Of course this didn't happen. I had baked chicken breast and veg with a side of rice.

Finished strong with a wholey unecesary yogurt.

Today is a fast day. Stuggled with boredom and had a bowl of soup (200 cals so not too bad and still a fast according to 5:2). Don't regret the soup but now I have the taste for more food I've decided to log my day on here to close the book on today. Boredom now redirected toward online shopping.

Need to get back to work before my waist line and my bank balance are irrecoverable.
