365 Days Wedding Weight Loss

Day 7/365

Just checking in tonight as day 7 comes to a close.

So bored today and fasting is hard when I'm bored. My partner made 2 chicken breasts (baked) and I had one around an hour ago but that will be the last I eat until tomorrow. I suppose a baked chicken breast (no skin) is around 350 calories?

Will work out before bed tonight.

Tomorrow we are celebrating a family birthday with another dinner out. This week has been so unexpectedly busy with socialising/celebrating and I'm trying not to be hard on myself but as things start to open up again after lock down I need to become used to making better food/drink choices when I am socialising because it is going to become more often. I really hope to get back to a working routing ASAP so that I can have a better routine. I am a lecturer at a local college, they are hoping to teach remotely until at least Christmas but my fingers are crossed that I can have at least some days per week on campus.

Hope you are all well and looking forward to a fun guilt-free eating weekend.

Day 8/365

My wedding dress has just arrived to the shop that I ordered it from. Unexpectedly early but I need to go to collect it on Friday and I will try it on before I leave the shop. I ordered the size that the sample I tried on was because it fit well and would possibly fit better when I am a few lbs lighter. I'm anxious to see how it looks, I haven't seen it since February.

Yesterday I had pho with noodles for lunch and some fried cauliflower. I had salmon and potatoes for dinner.

Again, not a significant deficit yesterday but not a day that will cancel out my fast days so I'll not worry about it. I do NOT want to be bloated trying my dress on on Friday so I am going to steer clear of carbs from Monday.

Hope you all have had a nice weekend.

Sounds like you are doing fine, I bet the wedding dress fits and looks gorgeous. Any chance of seeing a picture here?

Wedding dresses are a world of their own, aren't they? Most people will never wear another piece of clothing which needs so much prep work and advance notice. Fingers crossed you'll love what you see when you go pick it up!

Hi, thanks! I love the dress and it makes me feel really good regardless of size so I'm happy I chose it. Maybe I will post a picture but I'll see how I feel when I collect it on Friday :)

Thanks LaMaria! I'm excited to put it on again :)

Day 9/365

Cheese Sandwich for lunch and steak and veg for dinner. I did have two yogurts though as snacks so a 7/10 day in terms of effort.

I weighed myself yesterday morning and I was up by around 3 or 4 lb... its hard to tell because I am using an analogue scale. I need to get a better one. I stepped on the scale a second time and I was back to 134lb. Later in the day, after eating and drinking water and wifh heavier clothes, I weight myself again and it was 134lb so I guess I'm still 134 this week. Happy to have maintained after last week's relaxed eating.

LaMa is right, shorter term and smaller weight changes are hard to see on the scale. Too much variability due to water and other non-fat factors. Longer term trends are more meaningful. Getting a good digital scale might help a little, but probably not a lot, I find they mostly make the variability easier to see... Despite now having good digital scale accurate to 0.1 lbs, I still just round to the nearest pound, actually I usually round up.

That's good advice and part of the reason I haven't bothered to get a digital scale, I kind of have target zones on the scale rather than a specific weight so I don't think it would be helpful to know with great accuracy. I'll weigh myself again on Friday :)

Day 10/365

Tried to minimise carbs today, not sure with how much success because I'm not used to tracking carbs or what to consider a low carb meal (aside from avoiding the obvious, rice, pasta, bread, potatoes).

Actually now that I am looking at the different things I have eaten, I might not have been as successful as I thought.

I had a tin of cream of tomato soup. 400g I have just discovered is around 1/5 of my daily carb recommended allowance. Quelle suprise. Only 204 calories though so a light lunch none the less. I will admit to sprinkling some parmesan on top. Around 50 calories.

Visited my granny and I always bring her treats when I do so I looked for something low carb. Went with a chocolate dipped meringue at 35g carb per 100g. The meringue was 150g but i only ate half so I guess 17g carbs. Not too bad and around 175 calories.

Cheese again... I had 3 baby bells. I never buy these because they are my cryptonite so I totalled 180calories from just baby bells lol. Actually no carbs in those though so ay least that is a win.

For dinner I had an omlette - 3 eggs with bacon and cheese. Will guesstimate this at 500ckal because I used bacon and cooked in butter.

I suppose yesterday was a low calorie day but I really have to say I didn't feel I was restrained. In fact, I was taking the piss a bit with the baby bells and the meringue felt indulgent.

I did a short work out in the morning but I think I was kidding myself a bit because I used a new routine which was designed for busy people on the go (10 min intensive) and spent about half an hour doing it so I really wasn't working that hard. Will get back to my own wee routine on Wednesday.

Day 11/365

Just at the end of day 11 so logging my food so I can close the book on today.

Today was supposed to be a fast day, and it was according to the 5:2, just not as I prefer to do as it wasn't a total water fast.

I had a yogurt at 175 kcal, 2 sugars in my black coffee around 30kcal and then I also had 4 pickles just to keep me busy while I watched say yes to the dress. Maybe 30 kcal max. So a 200-250 kcal day. Not bad and a good deficit to add to yesterday's for this week.

Carbs were more or less none existent but the salt in the pickles maybe will make me retain water weight in a similar way to carbs. Maybe not... I'm no scientist.

Need to make smart decisions tomorrow after this fast and make sure to get my head more in the game with my work out.

Had to look that up, are you Irish?

My last name is Irish and I have a number of Irish ancestors, but they came to the US many generations ago. I did once meet a man with the same last name, he greeted me in Irish, but I had to tell him it was many generations lost.

Looks like you are making some good decisions, keep it up?

Can we call you R?

Nice to learn more about you! Yes, I'm Irish. Americans are always so tuned in with their heritage and its nice that they always take pride in their Irish roots. Have a great day.. and r is fine!

4 pickles probably aren't enough to make you retain water. Food on a normal day might have a lower salt concentration but would have much higher total salt, which is what ends up mattering.
