Cohen's Lifestyle -30 kg for my 30th birthday

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
no answers

More than 3 working days gone, and I still don`t get any feedback from my consultant. That`s sad and disappointing. I`ve even called her and left a massage yesterday, because she wasn`t in, but still no sign. I don`t know what should I do, or how should I react, because I got an appointment to her on Friday. (8 weeks)
And I didn`t lose any grams at all in the last 17 days! :( If I can be honest I am not sure I`m going to stay on this program, I lost my enthusiasm. I gave up my regular exercises in gym (spinning, boxing, weight lifting..etc) because I felt dizzy and almost faint, this program doesn`t give enough energy for doing excessive exercises. (anyone count the calorie intake? I did it, 900 kcal...) And I miss them, and feel realy weak since I`m doing this.
Well one of my friend suggested to start eating more, start to pick up a healthy eating habbit (he recommended the CSiro plan/diet) and go back to gym or if I can afford go to a personal trainer. I don`t know, I`m thinking about it...But I`m still on Cohen, and looking forward to meet my consultant....

Finally..

I got a call from my consultant, and she said there wasn`t any error or deviation in my bloodtest, everything was fine. So she didn`t know either what is wrong with me. And she didn`t suggest anything, just come in and let`s talk, that`s all...So??? It doesn`t realy convince me... :(

Ianina, sorry you are having such a hard time when you seem to be doing everything right. Maybe do go in and have a chat, and see what you think after that.

There is no harm going in for a talk.

Your body might be behaving slower than average. Just go and talk to your consultant. She might have came across other people with the same problem as you.

email dr Cohen

Lanina,

Please don't be discouraged... our bodies all work in different ways..
I hope you have managed to see your conultant,
but please please dont be disheartened...... i found i didnt loose as much as others but on the whole it was much better then other programs.. body shape has a bit to do with it too, it took me a while for my clothes to drop off, my hips and boobs filled them out... remember our weight fluctuates on 4 weeks cycles, and we are reminded not to weigh all the time, once a month only, because it can be misleading..

i have senna tablets too, doesnt matter how many apples i eat i suffer from constipation, my first attempt it wasnt a problem but this time around it has occoured.....

Im sorry if you feel we are all singing the same song, if you sincerely believe that the program you have is incorrect and nothing else has been faulted get the clininc to email dr cohen asap, do not take no for an answer, ask him to review your bloods and program.. you have paid for this and they should listen and assist you.. if your consultant isnt very productive go above her..

good luck, stay positive, stay strong... just hang in there a bit longer...

ps..Are you really hungry?
Chelle

I got an appointment to my consultant Friday (week8), so soon I will talk to her and let`s see what is going on.
When I don`t do any workout I`m not hungry, but when do I feel dizzy and very-very hungry. :(

I wouldn`t like to stop this program, but what is the point following it if I don`t have any advantage? I mean, okay, well, eating healthy is good point, a very good one actually, but don`t loosing weight is not a good one. And I`m not able to boost up my metabolism with some extra workout, because it makes me dizzy and very-very hungry, I would eat my own hand that hungry. So I feel like a bird in a cage, i`m trapped. I would like to eat healthy for good, but it seems I need definitely more than I got on Cohen, to able to do some extra workout, which can help to reduce my body fat. So I don`t know, kinda lost I think.
But I give it a go, and meet my consultant and let see what she is able to figure out. (hope so she will be nicer than last time when I was around...) I don`t how can I contact directly to Dr Cohen or go above my consultant? (she is the manager here) Does anyone know it??

And thank you girls for all of your comments, I`m really happy to get your support, which is much more than I got from my well-paid consultant during last 8 weeks...

Ianina, I have just gone back to the start of your diary & read through a few pages. You lost weight quite quickly at the start & for a little while (2 weeks) were quite positive. Then it seems a couple of things happened that sabotaged the program & I don't think it has had a chance to work properly for you since. The bread roll & the milk was one & then you decided to exercise even though it is not recommended that you do exercise vigorously.
You seem to hold a lot of anger & this is not healthy or good for anyone, but especially not for you.
I think you almost need to make a fresh start & try a new approach, both to your consultant & to the program. Start again mentally.
Approach her in a positive friendly way & see how she reacts to you. If by that approach you are not happy with her response then try to tell her how you feel, without anger.
If you are still not happy with her response perhaps ask if it is possible to be able to go through another clinic by email or phone. I did not see my consultant at all during the program. It was not necessary. I either rang or emailed.
Try very hard to put negative thoughts out of your head. Go back & read some of your diary at the start. Don't expect to lose all of your weight instantly.
Start again with a positive attitude, stick to Cohen's 100%, including the advice on exercise, read & re-read your program & give it your best shot. You can do this Ianina but you must really want to do it more than anything else. Be strong & be positive, xoxo Cate

What do sabotage my program

- don`t loose any grams in the last 19 days
- my consultant was rude to me, and have a very disappointing support
- since week 5 feel weak, realy weak

I don`t think so I exercise vigorously. I used to do _before_ the program spinning, boxing, treadmill running, weightlifting, but now I do pilates, yoga, walking, 3 times a week. None of them is vigorously, I think. I tried to do some running and weightlifting during the program, because I miss these kind of workout a lot, but I wasn`t able to do any of them, because I felt dizzy and very very hungry afterwards. And yes, couple of days ago I tried to do these workout again, because my weight loss just stopped 19 days ago. But I wasn`t able to do any of them, again...What should I have done? My weightloss stopped, there is only two way to trigger it back: reduce the food intake or increase the activity. I chose increase the activity, I tried, but I failed because my food intake wasn`t enough to do anything...

But yes, probably you are right Cate, I failed because I`m not prepared mentally.

Hey Lanina

I seem to feel weak all the time, especally if I am walking too much or running around- even just doing shopping is sometimes too much for me. I couldn't even DREAM of doing any excercise so dont even go there. I like you, thought that I could speed things up a little but it had the opposite effect the week that I did the most, I lost the least. I think you need to stop the excercise and try and rest and relax so your body can do it's magic with the Human Growth Hormone. Remember it is not as simple as calories in, calories out for Cohen's it is about hormones and that's what makes it so remarkable!

Also something else to consider is your sleep cycle. If you are not getting your eight hours un-interupted then your not triggering your HGH which is what makes you loose weight at the right pace for your body. Also try and keep your water intake up and think about it as this is the cohen's mantra: "the more you drink, the more you shrink". I REALLY want this program to work for you Lanina and I think you would be the first person that it hasn't worked for that I have ever come across. I think if it is not working and your doing all of the things I have talked about then maybe you have an underlying medical problem that needs to be investigated- possibly thyroid related?!? I think it would be worth checking out and speaking to your doctor as your weight-loss results dont seem to be right at all.

I can totally understand your frustration with being so strict on the program and not loosing weight! I am so sorry that this is your experience and I hope that by meeting with your consultant that this can be resolved. Hopefully she will be very helpful and understanding due to the fact that your blood tests are coming back clean. She should really consult Dr Cohen for you if your still not having any luck and I would push that with her.

Take care Lanina and try to stay in a good head space and DONT excercise!

week 8 - completed

Thank you Nicole for your nice word and advice. I will visit my doctor to ask a full examination, although I was checked for thyroid 7 months ago. Yes, I`m realy fustrated now, and need time to sort it out my feelings and thoughts.

I`ve got my visit to my consultant, and I have to say it didn`t make any difference. :( She wasn`t supportive nor helpful. She looked through my food plan, point out two things from my 8 weeks: my bread roll what I ate on my second week, and one day I ate cheese for breakfast and dinner as well. That was all! I don`t think so I made a huge mistakes, but obviously she thinks differently. I asked her to contact Dr. Cohen and consult my case with him, but she said no need to speak him, because everything is fine....And that was a point when I said goodbye and left her office, because I was mad at her.

And one more thing: If I`m not able to reach my GW within a half year, I won`t get my refeed, and I have to pay a monthly fee (3 figure number...) to following my existing plan, until I reach my GW, or I can sign an another 6 months contract for an entry fee....That`s makes me realy pissed off! :cuss: I won`t pay a 3 figure fee for that kind of support what I got so far...

And week 8 results: Offically : -0.8 kg down, my measure: -1.1 kg
And in the last 21 days, I didn`t lost a single gram.

Ianina- I'm very sorry that you did not get any satisfaction from your visit to the clinic. That's a shame. It is hard to know what to say that will make you feel positive about Cohen's. I can only suggest sticking with Cohen's 100%, following all the advice in the program book, including the exercise, having a thorough health check as Nicole suggests & giving it your best shot.
You have lost 6.6kgs in 8 weeks & while you may feel that it is not enough it is still 6.6kgs that are gone. Try not to dwell on the negative encounters with your consultant & instead move on ahead with the program & come in here for support. We will help you as much as we can.
I am sorry that I can't offer any magical solutions. What I can offer you though is friendship & support. It would be disappointing if you threw in the towel. Look at it as a learning experience. I still think you can do this & I'm sure that the others in here think the same. We will support & encourage you.
This may be a plateau & the weight will shift soon. One of my very good friends lost very slowly but persisted until she got to goal. It was very trying for her but she learned a lot about herself along the way.
Take care Ianina. Bye for now, Cate.

Don't quit!!!!

Lanina, you can't quit.
Imagine it's the end of this year. See yourself in your new body, gracefully swanning around, feeling more sexy and comfortable in yourself than ever before. Maybe you're at a bbq... and someone who is overweight is admiring you and saying 'i just can't lose the weight'. You'll think back to this moment in the program... YOUR TURNING POINT!!!! this is your turning point, seriously. You will tell the person 'you can do it of course you can, but you need to have strength of mind to overcome the temptation to stay the same'. CHANGE IS HARD. there is no question. And often, too often, we fall off our plans right when change is about to happen...

Here's exactly what you must do next:

- you must cry. be really pissed off. go for a walk with your sunglasses on and as you walk, just think about how annoyed you are that you haven't lost more
- you must then resolve to stay the course. just realize the desire to quit and the desire to overexercise, are all signs of self sabotage. we all do it. your body is programmed to AVOID change at all costs. that means you have an inbuilt biological mechanism that is threatened by any weight loss.
- you must come onto the boards as often as you can and seek support. we are here for you. we know the battle and we want you out of it once and for all.

Stay the course, my friend. Just do it. Imagine that scene at the BBQ at the end of the year. You are going to feel so frickkin good!!!!

Start focusing on what you want and how you can get it rather than on what's not working. All negative emotion comes from focusing on negative things. Don't lose faith now. It's just your mind playing tricks on you to stop you from succeeding.

Good luck x

Nicely said 28+1!!!!
That post inspired me as well! They say to have an image focused in your head makes your goals so much for achievable as they are focused! Thinking and focusing on the way you want to look will REALLY help you to get there, and get through the rough time you are having right now.

You can do it Lanina, we know you can girl!!!

quick touch up

No changes in the last 29 days! I`m 83.5kg every single day, no more, no less.
I visited my doctor and I haven`t got any problem at all: no thyroid related, no insulin resistance, nothing, I`m realy healthy. (one good news at least)
So I decided to consult with a nutritionsist and personal trainer next week. I`m realy looking forward to get their opinion!

My motto: I want to lose weight and I have to find my way to do it!

That really is so puzzeling why Cohen's isn't working for you?!? Seriously I would contact another clinic and ask if they can give you some answers, just explain your circumstance to them and ask if they have ever heard of Cohen's not working? I think your consutant needs a good kick up the but for not helping you once you have paid all that money! Surely there would be a money back guarentee or something? That just cant be right?

Best of luck Lanina
xx
