2011's Adventure for a 5'3 girl hoping for 125 :)

Great news!!!!!!

First my fiance got the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And second I got my second TOM.. so I'm going off BC and hoping to get more regular. We are NOT hoping for a baby at this time LOL I still want to have a fun summer and try for it sometime in the future. We are currently just getting our ducks in a row and stuff :)

This week has been fabulous though and hopefully some fun easter tomorrow!

Also I discovered a really awesome recipe for buns. They are called oopsie rolls but its a slightly different version then some others that have splenda or whatever other stuff. This one only has eggs, 1/8 of cream of tartar (I replace this with a 1/4 of lemon juice since I have that around the house), and cream cheese! Anyways gluten free and super duper low carbs AND it has allowed me to eat cheeseburgers again which are my favorite!! I am loving them :) We had to a buy an electronic mixer just so I could make them LOL but totally worth it!

Today's bodyrock workout is the hot bikini body workout. Don't know how much of this I will get through after doing Yoga X but I will do as much of it as I can.

Also for anyone curious I am linking the Youtube video for the tone it up abs workout I do

And here is the 6 min interval video

Also another breakdown of what I will be doing again next week :) I still have to finish this 4th week session too. Loving phase 1 and the booty is looking cute ;)

Loved This!

I found this memo on bodyrock and wanted to share it :)

A FEW WAYS TO STOP WORRYING ABOUT BEING ‘SKINNY’

People are always trying to get more skinny. It’s the main reason a lot of people start exercising — to lose weight, lose weight, and lose more weight. And no matter how much we lose, there’s always a little bit more to go. Especially for people relatively new to exercising, it’s extremely hard to reach a solid, happy level of satisfaction.

But should being skinny be the ultimate, actual goal of exercise, of any attempt to lose weight? Now, before we get into this question further, one thing we should say: there are people who are just naturally skinny. A lot of this depends on your body type and metabolism, which we’ve talked about elsewhere on the site.

But let’s go back to ‘getting skinny’ as a goal — although exercise will help you lose weight, there’s got to be a better direction than just ‘skinny’. There are a few reasons why we think the whole focus needs to shift, and they drive everything we put on the site. Let’s talk about them.

WHY THE FOCUS SHOULD CHANGE TO ‘GETTING FIT’

Becoming skinny isn’t very realistic over the long term. Besides the fact that the whole process of losing enough weight to actually become fashion-model skinny is really difficult, maintaining it — while still eating well and having enough energy to live your life — is extremely hard.

Getting fit, on the other hand, is far more measurable — you can track your progress, see specific, satisfying changes to your body, and not be holding yourself up to an unrealistic standard.

That’s actually the most important thing — psychologically, it’s far easier to work towards getting fit than getting skinny. One is a specific goal that’s sustainable, the other is a societal idea that changes with the times and is famously elusive.

If your goal is simply ‘to be a skinny person’, you’ll always find ways to not measure up, no matter how skinny you might get. Fundamentally, it’s just not realistic.

When you combine these two things — a realistic physical goal with something that’s actually easy to deal with, psychologically — you’ve got an unstoppable combination. As an overall direction, getting fit is infinitely preferable to getting skinny.

But besides that, there are tons of other benefits, too:

OTHER WAYS GETTING FIT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Your full-body health. Trying hard to get skinny can have terrible effects on your body, because you likely won’t eat enough, nor will you get a balanced amount of exercise. When you switch your goal to simply ‘getting fit’, it’s much easier to concentrate on making your entire body healthy, and you go from counting and denying calories to something much more healthful, well-rounded, and holistic in approach.

Your everyday strength. This one is great, just because it’s something you might not consider beforehand — but getting fit makes you way stronger (not super-muscular, just stronger!). Those little things you need to do around the house, or anything involving physical strength — they become a huge pleasure when you’re in shape (or even just getting in shape). You’ll seriously enjoy being able to actually feel your body, and feel each muscle as you use them.

Your physical confidence. Connected to that is just the sheer physical confidence that comes from being in shape. It makes you feel grounded, more present, and more at home in your own skin.

Psychological rewards. It’s not just about the attainable psychological rewards of being in shape, but other, more chemical ones, too — nearly nothing about the mad drive to ‘get skinny’ will give you the natural, amazing high that strong exercise will, and it’s proven that you’ll feel way better pursuing a plan that concentrates on fitness rather than one just concerned with dropping the pounds.

Ate quite a bit of candy this weekend plus jalapeno chips MMMM it was delicious. Now I just have today IF I feel like eating more carbs and then tomorrow I have to go back to eating low carbs.

I don't really like having weeks between my cheats but my hormones are CRAZY and I don't want to do a carb day if I were pregnant. This is how I will be eating when we start anyways so I might just get used to it so it isn't a hard transition.

On another note workouts were still done :) I haven't really stepped on the scale much since my system is crazy but I look good in the mirror so I'm happy with that :) I'm putting less emphasis in what I weigh and more into what workouts I'm doing and how I'm eating anyways so weight loss will be the added benefit :)

I have noticed that my attitude has changed drastically since I was able to start fitting into my clothes. I'm not completely focused on losing weight to fit into things anymore. It's a relief and I feel a lot less frustrating then waiting for the weight to fall off because I feel like increasing your fitness can be seen within a week while getting rid of fat thighs takes much longer. Mine are still too jiggly for my taste but they look nice in jeans so I forgive them for now ;)

Good Luck on weight loss everyone! Keep it healthy and fun :)

It is great that your feeling good about your progress without worrying to much about the scales :)

Thanks!! I did have a bit of a crappy eating week last week but that didn't concern me as I kept working out and I knew this week (starting today lol) I was going to get right back to good eatings :) Last week was odd but we enjoy and move on!

I read this today and decided to stick it in here as I thought it was interesting. PS it doesn't change my routine. I just found it interesting enough to share ;)

-----------Warm Up With Cardio, Then Go To Weights. Right? Wrong.----

Having been an athlete for most of my life, I figured I knew my way around the gym. On a typical day, I'd hit the treadmill or elliptical machine for 30 minutes, then move to the weight machines. And that's what I started to do when I recently joined a gym. Then I got my assessment -- you know, the review of your habits a lot of gyms do. And the review told me I was doing something wrong.

Hit the weights hard, the assessment said. Then go to cardio.

What?

"The body needs to burn through its sugar source first before it taps into the fat," says Iman Nikzad, who runs the fitness program at my LA Fitness near Irvine, Ca. "You burn the sugar while doing the weights then burn the fat while doing the cardio."

I did some more research and, turns out, he's right and I was wrong. The optimal workout is a 10-minute warm-up on a low-impact cardio machine followed by 30 minutes of weights and then 30 minutes of intense cardio.

Yes, really.

"Efficiency is the key when structuring any workout, so long-duration cardio should not be done in the beginning of the session," says certified strength and conditioning specialist Jim Smith. "The most intensive training should be done first in the workout, when you are at your best."

By starting with weights, you alert your muscles to trigger the proteins that churn through calories while you train. So even though you're probably spent after 30 minutes of weights, your body is ready to eat fat faster than it would if you started by "telling" the body to attack sugar.

A lot of people get this wrong, thinking weight training diminishes the effect of the cardio work. It's the opposite. Just remember the phrase: "Muscle eats the fat." If you want to lose the flab -- and who doesn't? -- you want your muscles as active as possible. That means starting with weights.

And if you only have 30 minutes total, go for weights instead of cardio. That sounds counterintuitive, since we feel sweating is "proof" we're losing fat. But you will lose a lot more fat by pushing and pulling weights and then going on a brisk walk in your neighborhood (or even at the mall). The guy or gal who is dripping buckets on the Stairmaster is getting a good workout, but you're likely getting a better one by getting sore and not getting soaked.

--------------------------------

Is it right?? I have no idea but its interesting.

See you everyone :)

Keep doing the good stuff!

Hello my always upbeat Tally!! :iagree: with Justina, I need a dose of Tally to keep me going! I just love reading your diary and your updates, you are so full of information and energy and motivation and I'm waiting for it to all rub off on me! I totally agree with your post of skinny vs. fit, I used to want to be skinny when I started my journey but I would so much rather be fit and healthy and active. I would rather be the girl who cares about what food she put into her body and the girl who would rather be outside on a walk or be going to the gym that just starving herself, I love the thought of being healthy and living a healty lifestyle for ever instead of being skinny and hungry until I cave and stuff my face (althought I do that once in a while :ack2: lol). So that was a great post! I'm really happy that you are keeping up with your workout and that you are liking what you see in the mirror, you're amazing! Keep working hard and keep motivating all of your followers- IE: me! :waving: Have a lovely Wednesday hun!

Thanks Janvier! Although this month I feel like I have done better with maintaining then with weight loss! I have been hovering around 135 for a while but I've been hopeful to see the lower 130's but it's almost May and I don't think it's going to happen ;p

My problem this month is that I keep changing my cheat meals around and keep forgetting about exactly when I had originally planned things so I will get better at this in May. Yesterday I had that bbq that I kept forgetting about!

So I went and had a blast and ate a lot and way too many carbs and then we got home so late and so full that I knew plyo would just make me throw up :svengo: So we went bought a toy for the dogs came home let them play with it since they had been stuck inside all day long and then took them out and went to sleep afterwards.

It's funny I know I am around 10 pounds to my goal and now I'm just too lazy to concentrate on it. Sometimes I feel like annoyed by this but then it doesn't happen for very long since I could be 35 pounds away from it if I didn't ever start a healthier lifestyle in January.

This is better for me though. I remember back in March I was so obsessed about seeing the number 122 on the scale that I got so angry when I wouldn't see it that I just gave up. How crazy is that?? So then I ballooned all the way back up to 160.

So this week I will keep going pretending like I did Plyo yesterday.

Also my girlfriend and I were discussing that extreme couponing show and I am always unimpressed when it comes to food shopping! I cannot imagine their daily meals.

Breakfast: Toaster Strudels
Lunch: Hamburger Helper
Dinner: Mini Pizza's w/ side of potato chips

I would be completely impressed if they could do it with organic meats and healthy stuff though. But I would get so angry from having to eat all those boxes of hamburger helper!! This is a girl who actually loves that stuff but to be forced to eat it before the due date because my husband could not stop buying stuff! I am so impressed by the husbands/wives and how long they stick around.

We also watched started talking about the animal hoarding shows and I always feel sorry for the children and the animals involved. Neither seem to have a healthy environment. I also feel sorry for the husbands/wives but I feel like they have more choice then the kids or animals.

I have watched very little of both shows. We cancelled cable since I am usually on the computer or studying so we didn't feel like it was worth it. My fiance only plays video games or watches stuff on Hulu.

Have a great day everyone :) Be Healthy and Happy!

Today as I was walking to work a 50+ year old man ran by me. Not to do anything particular he was just on a jog with his workout gear on. I thought about how I envied his wife! I would love my husband still be active and working out at his age and I was happy that we were both working on that.

Sometimes with summer coming I start getting impatient with wanting to lose the last 10 pounds and being perfect for it but I got reminded that it isn't summer its so much more then just a summer it's a lifetime.

Zuzana is also turning 29 this year. I WISH I had come upon her site this time last year I may have found the much needed wake up call to look past the number on a scale and just want something much more like to be a healthy and happy person.

If I could be happier about myself bigger then I wouldn't worry because I would be happy but I can't. So I pursue my own happiness realizing that my happiness isn't the same as other people's but I don't really care. Why would I? After all knowing someone else is happy in their own skin is great but it doesn't mean you can do the same simply by watching them.

Last term in psych class our teacher was talking about two people arguing over who was unhappier. One woman's husband died and the other woman was getting through a divorce. Our teacher said Grief was not measurable and that your grief was no worse or no better then anyone else's.

There is no scale. We do not win or lose with emotions. Just because one person has to lose 100 pounds and the other one has to lose 25 doesn't mean one's person unhappiness with their body is higher then someone else's. There is no need to feel superior since no one else feels our unhappiness as much as we feel it.

After all if both people want to go through the rest of their lives being healthy then they both have to deal with it one day at a time. Life doesn't stop when we hit our goals.

"Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own."
— Bruce Lee

I liked this blurb that I found on the bodyrock site. I am sharing for anyone who needs the same boost :)

Hi Guys,

It’s been a long time since we have had a coffee talk, and quite a few of you have written to say that you have missed our little talks. I have missed doing them too, so we have decided to start them up again.

In this coffee talk I share my feelings and outlook on turning 28 and share my fitness plans for the future. I also talk about some of the people in my life who continue to inspire Freddy and I into their 50?s and beyond. We would really like to hear what you guys think about getting older and not giving up. There is a quote from one of my favorite movies of all time The Shawshank Redemption: “You are either busy living or you are busy dying – you are god damn right.” Red sums up the approach to fitness and life that both Freddy and I (and many, many of you here) have embraced – the “use it or loose it” philosophy. We plan on using it on this whole journey :)

Best

Zuzana and Freddy

Linked her video since she talked more about it. She is turning 28 in it and just talking about her future fitness goals :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

hey you lady!! let s not only talk about bodyrock because YOU ROCK girl!!!reading your diary i find so many useful info and inspiration.

Holy CRAAAP girl, you are a huge motivation. You're like a machine! I will definitely be following your progress for my own inspiration. Do you have any idea how many calories you think you are averaging daily? I'm just curious.. I stopped counting calories and just starting re-combining certain foods to eat in relation to working out/sleeping, but I know some days I could be as low as 1000, others as high as 2000...

Keep up the good work!

Hi Tally!

I know how you feel about getting so close to your goal and then not having the motivation to push yourself to get there, I'm constantly in that boat. I was listening to a song this weekend that said that everything good in life is worth fighting for and I think if we being healthy equals being happy that health and happiness is very worth fighting for and that's all we're trying to do day in and day out, and because we are willing to fight for it we are going to get it, it may not be today or tomorrow but it will happen. I'm happy to hear that you have been doing good things and that you're happy! If you are happy I am happy for you! You are a great motivation and so full of wonderful and useful infomation, I always look forward to seeing what you have for us to read each day! Have a wondeful Monday hun!! :seeya:

I had to make a new diary since I forgot my login info :) So this one will never be updated again by me but it was a good run anyways lol
