Beforeee you judge me :) ..I'm NOT another person looking for a miracle weight loss solution! I know it takes hard work, effort, motivation etc etc. I'm just wondering if someone can advise me on the best way to go about losing roughly 2 stone in 3months.. If it's possible that is.

I'm 18, female, about 5"6 I think and weigh about 11stone (154 pounds) maybe a little under. My target weight is 9 stone (126 pounds) and I would reaaaally like to be around this if not bang on by mid March 2010. I know that's slightly over 3 months but it's Christmas soon so if I do devise some sort of exercise/diet plan I know I'm going to fall off the wagon a bit for those two weeks over Christmas (I'm only human afterall) so it's only right to be realistic and say 3 months.

I go on holiday March 16th and am desperate to feel comfortable in a bikini! Any help/advice will be much appreciated. Just need to know the best way to go about this without obviously starving myself of spending most of my day in the gym.

Thanks, Carly.
(I'm new by the way not even sure if I've posted this in the right category :blush5: sorry if not)

hey! congrats on taking the first step. And it looks like you dont have TOO much to lose. Now you have a pretty hefty goal but its probably not impossible, but its not super healthy.

I mean I weigh more than you but just by sticking to a healthier diet and working out daily I lost 27 pounds in a little under 4 months.

Its healthiest to lose about 1-2 pounds a week so you would probably lose about 15-20 pounds in 3 months. But just don't go crazy about it. Be healthy, be consistent and you will see results. You want to give your body time to adjust..you dont wanna crash diet and rush to lose 30 pounds in 3 months and then your body is in shock and at risk of gaining it all back.

This is a process and life change, its not a miracle..so it takes time. But the sooner you get on working out and eating healthy the sooner it will come off. Try setting little goals for yourself.. Instead of 30 pounds in 3 months try saying that you want to lose 8 pounds by xmas or something.

Thanks for response Katie. I agree with you completely I'm gonna be 100% realistic about it coz I know I'm bound to have days where I don't feel like exercising or I really want KFC or something ha. If I eat 500 calories less a day and burn 500 a day that's 2 pounds a week so that's what I'm aiming for really. I just need to know the best way to go about it really. What foods to eat, what daily exercises are best to do and so on..

Hey Carly,

There are a few things to think about here.

One is that you're already near a healthy weight, and the closer you are to a healthy weight, the harder it is to lose that weight. It's simple math really - someone who has more to lose can eat at a greater calorie deficit than someone with less to lose.

So that's the first thing. Most people at your weight are going to average between 1-2 lbs per week of loss. So in 3 months (about 12 weeks), you could estimate an average of about 18 lbs, and possibly even 24lbs.

That's assuming that you are extremely strict with yourself and keep to plan perfectly for the next 3 months.

Now the other thing to think about is, as you mentioned, Christmas and New Years is coming up. For most people being very strict and keeping perfectly to plan over the holidays is simply not possible. I know for myself, I have set a mini-goal for the next 2 months to simply maintain my current weight. I know that trying to lose over the holidays is MUCH more difficult than the rest of the year and so I don't set unreasonable expectations for myself.

I don't mean to be un-encouraging, but I just hate to say that 28 lbs of loss is feasible over the holidays for most people. If you have the will power and committment to avoid all the holiday food and eat on plan 100% of the time, you can probably achieve it ... but most people simply can't
