Welcome! the best way to start any change is in diet. Not a fad diet or anything, but just eating overall mroe healthy and paying attention to food labels, and calorie intake. Excercise and Resistance training are really important for toning as well, but your biggest gain is going to be in eaing properly. i reccomend using a calorie tracker, i use fitday.com i think there are others but i never tried em. the first one i tried worked great for me.

im going to try to eat healthier but i dont think there is ANYONE out there that loves food more then this girl! thanks for the advice.. ill look into the calorie tracker!

110? I think that might be a bit too much. I think you would look great at 120. You don't want to under wieght hon, that's not healthy either.

Also, don't make the mistake of thinking you're fat. When I was your age, I weighed about what you do now and I'm about your hieght and I thought I was fat. Little did I know what it was like to really be fat. I screwed up my metabolism really bad by putting unrealistic expectations on my self and doing these bad things I eventually ended up at 220 pounds. I think the best thing for you to do is excersise to firm up and let numbers on the scale take care of themselves. Also, keep in mind that women lie about their weight ALL THE TIME and someone who says they weigh 115 could actually very easily weigh more like 130.

Good luck!

i know nothing of female weight:) but she did say lose fat and tone up, after hangin around here she'll learn that weight is just a number, and that she has much more to gain both looks, and health wise by concentrating on resistance training, good diet and cardio, a little muscle to the mix always makes for great bikini, specially squats :)

Well, let me just start off by saying that you are absolutely beautiful just the way you are right now! I weighed about the same as you in High School and thought I was fat, now looking back I think I looked pretty good. Anyway, my name is Erica, I'm 20 years old. I've lost quite a bit of weight and my tips are that you need to set realistic goals for yourself because if you set goals that aren't realistic you won't stick to it! For example if you say "I'm only going to eat fruit and vegetable" I mean, how long is that gonna last?! And also, just be persistant and if you fall off the bandwagon don't give up, pick yourself up and get back at it! good luck and I hope to see you around!

Flygirlsarah,
Are you the same weight in both pictures? It may just be the outfit but you look really healthy and slender in the black sweater. I definitely think 110 by summer is a bit unreasonable, but you don't look like you have 30Lbs to lose anyways. You'd probably notice a huge difference after 15-20Lbs.

you're roughly the same weight as me, a year younger, with around the same amount to lose :) i'd ideally like to be closer to 110 but right now i want to be 120. What height r u? u look a wee bit thinner than me.

i am 5'4 and i took a fitness class at my school and ended up just being a bit over 120.. i still wasnt happy.. i know i dont have a horrible body image.. or really unrealistic goals..i just want a body like the old britney spears.. or close to it lol is that TOOOO much to ask?.. and i definitely wouldnt do it by starving myself and screwing up my metabolism.. i am much too blessed with the metabolism i have right now... plus.. food is like drugs to me.. it makes me happy.. im not about to give it up lol.. thanks for all the replys BTW!

I hope you remembered to wash your sheets, blanket, and put away your clothes :p

But seriously, wecome to WLF, just teasing with ya! You may want to check out Steve's journal, titled "Journey, not a destination", I am sure you will find many good tips there.

Motivation is key! If you stay motivated you will loose the weight. Try setting up a couple of small goals to ultimately achieve your main goal.

well when you get closer to your goal you'll realize what is a reasonable weight for you to be at. i've lost like 80 lbs, and i understand what people mean when they say you realize its just a number... but... i need that number to say something :p i use it as a marker to show me where I am. maybe when i start resistance training this summer, i'll learn to ignore the number

take care, and good luck!
