Feel Good

New member
So it's 2017... a whole 10 years after deciding to go on my first ever diet. I've always been overweight so this year brings about a whole new mindset and a healthier way of life!

I've decided to blog my progress in an attempt to hold me accountable for what I eat and the choices I make.

I've been eating much healthier for four days now and in that time I have lost 6lbs. I've mainly been eating salads and vegetables as well as lean meat and fruit. I really really hope I can keep these changes up - I just want to be happier and healthier. Here's to 2017... and here's to feeling good!

Hi GeelGood & welcome to the forum.
I really really hope I can keep these changes up
You can. Persevere. Be absolutely determined. Imagine yourself how you want to be & just keep moving towards it. You can do this!

So today has been pretty good. I've been off work today but i've managed to eat clean for most of the day...
Breakfast: 2 × chocolate wheatabix with 1% milk

Lunch: Large homemade salad with roast chicken without skin. (Spring onion, rocket, cherry tomatoes, tbs coleslaw, grated carrot, red cabbage, beetroot.

Snack: cheetos (small bag)

Dinner: Dairy-free carbonara - chicken, bacon (fat removed), tagliatelli (100g), egg yolk, spring onion, dejorn mustard, garlic.

Dessert: I don't usually have dessert but today is Friday and i thought its probably best to add a few treats than to fall off of the diet-train all together. So i had a weightwatchers cake bar (70cal) with a cup of tea.

Drinks: 3 litres of water, 3 large mups of tea (1 sweetner in each).
I really hope I can keep this up over the weekend!

Laid in bed this morning reading other people's weight loss diaries. You people are truly inspiring. I've noticed that some people weigh-in every morning before drinking etc to ensure that other variables such as water don't affect their weight too much. I've decided to give that a try. I hope that posting my weight as soon as I wake up will encourage me that day and I hope that spending a little time each morning planning what I will each that day and then adding this to this diary will hopefully keep my on track more than going through the day struggling to decide what to eat.
When i know i've eaten healthily I feel a little excited about stepping onto the scales... whenever before have I felt excited about weighing myself?! Anyway, here goes... 335.5lb (-3.5lb) which is 9.5lb loss in total! Woo this feels great!

So today's food diary:
Breakfast:
Low fat baked beans (i'll walk to the shop for these as we have none left at home) with two slices of smoked bacon left over from yesterday's dinner (all visable fat removed and cooked in 4 squirts of 2 cal spray).

Lunch:
Warburton's thin with chilli cheese philadelphia light and 2 slices of wafer thin ham. 2 oranges.

Dinner:
Vegetable curry (shop bourght but it's 150 cal) which I will have with salad and possibly another warburton's thin (not quite a naan bread haha) if I am still hungry.

Dessert:
I may not have dessert but my girlfriend (who is also becoming more healthy with me) has a bit of a sweet tooth so we'll see how it goes... If i do fany a weekend dessert treat I will have banna and chocolate custard (individual portion/cup).

Thanks for reading - you guys keep me motivated and on track!

Be careful you don´t go too low with your calories or things may get unnecessarily hard later on. My rough guess would put you at around 1000 kcal for this entire day which really isn´t a lot!

You're right... i realised this whilst walking to the shop and feeling really low low energy levels. I got some eggs and whipped up a 2 scrambled eggs and added a slice of the warburtons tiny bread haha just tucking in now :) Thank you for your advice!

Those warburton thins are super low cal so make sure you're eating enough - guessing you're a UKer too! Nice to see more of us from that part of the world - not many of us here! Your carbonara sounds delicious - will have to try making that!

Thank you so much! It was pretty nice - quite mustard-y though! I've had a rice cake with my thin aswell after taking your advice :) thanks again z

Are you logging on myfitnesspal at all? It's a good app. You put in your weight, height and activity level and how much you want to lose and it'll calculate how many calories you should be aiming for. I'm 5'10 and currently 194lbs with a relatively good exercise levels and it's told me 1400 to lose 2lbs a week. You should see what you get x

I am using myfitnesspal - it seems really good and i'm logging everything I eat on there as well as on here :) It doesn't help that i've had the flu this week so haven't been able to visit the gym as planned. I think knowing that i'm just laying in bed/sat is making me more strict on what I eat. I have already added extra pre-gym snacks etc to my tesco shopping for as soon as I feel well enough to workout :)

You are doing really well FeelGood. Congrats on the 9.5lbs lost! I use My Fitness Pal too & find it really helpful to track my calories. I was under-eating at one stage & didn't realise it. Keep up the good work :)

Thank you cate. This forum is by far the most helpful thing i've found :)

Day 6 and feeling optimistic...
So it's just been weigh-in time and I came in at 335lbs. Not a huge change but it's still half a pound in the right direction and I keep remembering that i'm weighing myself daily not weekly! It's still 10lbs off in 6 days! :D

I don't think I drank as much water yesterday and I did have a chocolate covered rice cake (80cal) with my lunch and a small scoop of frozen custard icecream (180cal) with my dinner. Maybe those things factored in i'm not sure. I won't be trying to cut things out too much though as I don't want my calorie intake to fall too low. Anyway...

Breakfast:
1/2 tin of baked beans
1 slice of small brown warburtons bread
Orange

Lunch:
Porridge (golden syrup oat so simple)
Banana

Dinner:
Tacos - 2% turkey mince, onions, ?peppers, taco mix, one or two taco shells (depending on how hungry I am), loads of salad and a tbsp sour cream.

Dessert: Again, might not have dessert it just depends what time we have dinner and if I fancy it but I might finally have that chocolate custard (pot/tub) and banana!
