135 Here I Come!!

Ok I have to be really quick but I just wanted to say thank you for all the support for my half marathon!! It went extremely well! I really surprised myself and pushed myself to my limits. I told my mom not to worry about coming till 10:30 am because it was going to take me at least 2 hrs and 30 minutes and guess what!! I finished it in 2 hrs and 7 min!!! Here are the results they emailed me:

So I am really proud of myself! I ran it all except I stopped to walk through a couple water stations because I tried jogging and drinking at first but it gave me a cramp. I tried to keep pace with a guy in front of me and I think that really helped because he started off at a faster pace than I would normally run at.
Friday night I got out and ran 11km’s in just over an hour and the rest of the weekend I ate really healthy and just relaxed. Saturday night I had some spaghetti but nothing to over the top. It’s so much easier to be good when hubby is working out of town. He’s going to be away for a couple more weeks so I am really going to use this time to get my routine back. I plan to start kettle bell Tuesday and made a schedule to go Tues, Thurs, Sat. Plus I want to keep up running. At least a couple 5km’s a week while the fall weather is still around. I love this time of year when all the leaves change colour. I just wish Summer came again after fall.
Oh other good news!! We booked our honeymoon!! Now I have more motivation to get back to my slender self! We are going on a 10 day cruise around Eastern Caribbean March 18th!! We are so excited! Plus I’m still getting excited for Vegas Oct. 15th!! Lots to look forward to and lots of reason to get healthy!!

OH MY GOSH LISA!!! You AMAZE me! 2 hours and 7 minutes, you KILLED IT! Wow... sooo proud of you :) :) :) I wish I could have been there at the finish line. GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Way to keep it up being healthy... and how exciting that you've got 2 vacations planned already! All of this good news is really helping me to discipline myself. I'm going to update my journal in a few minutes so whenever you have a chance, stop on by :)

I have to admit it, I was thinking about you this morning and I thought "I hope she did well but I have a bad feeling it might have been harder than she thought and she probably had to walk a lot." Man am I glad you proved me wrong! You have HEART! Again, I'm very proud of you. :cool: Please don't stop running. You are pretty damn good at it! ;)

Absolutely amazing! Thanks for taking the time to update us all! Even though I'm only running 3ish miles, I also think of the people here on the forum when I'm pushing through the tough parts.... I'm glad it's not just me. :) Anyway, great job, and I'm glad you've got some fun vacation time planned. You sure deserve it!

Thanks Alta - always great to see you around! We are going Friday, October 14th to Sunday morning and staying at New York, New York! That would be amazing if you were there at that time!! We are going to party the Saturday night for my sistas bday and the Friday night we are going to party on Freemont Street. Other than that we just plan to gamble and go in a couple poker tournaments. Unfortunately it's going to be a short trip - only 48 hours.

thanks Mizzie! Unfortunately the rooms only sleep 2 people, lol! That's too bad your husband doesn't like cruises - mine is afraid of the water so it took some convincing that this was the way to go for our honeymoon. I just love the idea of stopping at so many different islands instead of just going to one resort.

Sarah - I love your idea of not drinking till Halloween! I was going to make the same goal and then I realized I have my Vegas trip booked before that so it's not going to work. But I am going to pledge to not drink till hubby gets back from working out of town so that will be two weeks without a drink! I will be so proud if you accomplish that goal - keep us updated!
So I started back at Kettle bell last night and it was great! I'm feeling it today but love that sore feeling and really missed it! I plan to go back Thursday. Tonight I'm going to do some running on the treadmill at the gym - not sure how long I will last but might switch to the bike if I can't go for long. My eating has been really good too! I only bought healthy snacks and there is no bad food in the house so I should be good all week! I don't have any cash on me either so I won't be tempted to hit any fast food drive through's. It's really hard to cook for one person so I got lots of stuff to make salads and a stir fry. I never cook meat so I will be eating lots of tuna until hubby gets back. It sucks having him away but he makes so much more money when working out of town and it will really help with paying for our cruise!
Looking forward to weigh-in Friday because it's been a couple weeks since I've stepped on the scale and I want an idea of where I am starting out again. I want to loose 5 pounds before my Vegas trip and it's only just over 3 weeks away so I have to work hard. I want to reach 135 for my cruise so that is my goal! I plan to work really hard all winter to get there - no turning back!

This post SOOOO motivates me! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 2 weeks without alcohol will be easy, you can totally do it! Just let people you're with know your goals and know to respect them - my roommate is not happy about the idea of me quitting drinking until Halloween... I was like.. what, am I not fun when I'm sober? LOL

I am pretty low on money too so there's not much food in the house right now but it helps because the more food I have, the more I want to eat... ALL of it! I only have healthy food and I tend to not want to snack as much when all there is in the fridge is celery and eggs :)

Something I've been really liking lately, maybe you might like to try... instead of making sandwiches for lunch I've been eating 4 multigrain crackers (about 1 1/2" - 2" in diameter) with a little bit of hummus spread on it (flavored hummus - forty spices or sweet roasted red peppers!) and then I take one piece of chicken lunch meat and shred it into smaller pieces and top the crackers with it! It fills me up just like a sandwich would too... yum!!

Looks like we are both getting good work outs in too... because I am SO feeling the aches from Monday and Tuesday! I took "multi-step" class Monday night (using 3 steps!) plus "core complete" (15 minutes straight abs) and did the same abs class last night.. man am I sore! Still wish we had kettle bell classes here! Speaking of pain... I forgot to ask, how did you feel after finishing the half? Were you sore the next day?

PS - I WILL BE SO JEALOUS IF YOU AND ALTA HAVE A CHANCE TO MEET AND PARTY TOGETHER!! AWW!!

Keep it up - we're FINALLY on the right track!! :D

So it turns out that one of my best friends is going down with their whole family, (Coincidence) and my other girl friend most likely can come with me. I really want to go hang out with you!! It would be so much fun!!! I would love to spend as much time with you as possible, because I mean when is the next chance I would get to SEE YOU!?!? Right!?! I know my friend, Tish, would come and she's super super nice and personable! I'd LOVE to tag along to your plans if that is doable!! Sounds like you are going to have some FUN, and I love "The more the merrier!" :D!

If in fact, you want to spend time with your family alone as well while there, I completely understand! I could always go hang out with Tish somewhere, and or go see what my other friend Ivette is up to! So there would be NO WORRIES if you wanted to hang out for a little while and then go back about your day :)! Regardless, I'd be SUPER EXCITED!!!

...I already checked out some room prices, and it looks like a GO! Let me know! :) The only real rush to get to Vegas anytime soon, would really be to SEE YOU, otherwise,..who knows what week I would have decided. :D! WoooooHoooooooooo!!!! :cheers2:!!!!

I'm so glad I could motivate you - I am feeling pretty motivated right now too! I haven't had a drink since Sept 11th and I'm going to go without it till Oct. 1st at least! I think that will really help!
Yum that lunch idea sounds really good - the problem with me is I really like crackers and hummus and if I bought them I wouldn't be able to stop after 4. I would be able to for lunch because I'm really disciplined during the day but as soon as night time hits I would be looking in the fridge and I would eat it all. Right now I don't have anything in the house I could snack on so it's working and I'm being good. I know I need to find balance though but I haven't figured that out yet.
I actually wasn't too sore after the half. My knees were the most sore and the next day it hurt a little to walk up and down the stairs but other than that I was good. Today is a different story though.

Let's do it!!! I talked to my sisters and they agree the more the merrier! It's just going to be my two sisters and one of my sisters friends. My older sister who's birthday it is is the reason we are going so we are pretty much doing whatever she wants. We fly in around 11am and are just going to go to our hotel and check in and drop off our bags and then grab some lunch. After lunch we are going to walk the strip and maybe go in to a poker tournament or do some gambling - I like roulette & black jack - not so much the slots but my sisters do so I will probably just watch and try to get some free drinks. Friday night we are going to party down freemont st. and gamble (my family is big into gambling). Saturday I think we are going to do more of walking the strip and then we are going to this place called Maggiano's? for dinner - it's my sistas bday Sat and she picked the place. And then Saturday night we are going to do it up at a club - no clue where. Then Sunday I have to be at the airport by 10am I think. So a quick trip but I would love for you to tag along and add fun to the trip! It will be so cool to meet you! I hope you are really able to come and everything works out! This is also going to really motivate me to keep up my healthy ways!! Once it gets closer we can pick a place to meet - probably at a buffet for lunch!! - we will be on vacation for the weekend ;)

Ok so I am soooo sore today!! I'm feeling the effects from Kettle bell Tuesday way more today than yesterday. I went to the gym after work last night and did 5km's on the treadmill - running 5min and then walking fast with a big incline 5min and switched till I got to 5km's - I think it took around 37 min with a warm up and cool down. Then I did 15 min on the eliptical machine with resistance at 10. I don't think it was yesterday's workout that's making me so sore today because it's more my shoulders and butt from all the squats and swings. I'm fighting through the pain and going again tonight because a friend of mine is going to meet me so that really helps. We plan to have a sauna after too.
Yesterday was another great day for eating, here's what my days have been looking like:
B - 1 cup fresh strawberries, 1/3 cup all bran & ff activia yogurt
Snack - 2 cups mint green tea
L - big veggie salad - romaine, snap peas, shredded carrot, chick peas, cucumber, cherry tomato, red pepper w 1 can tuna in water drained & ff tomato, oregano dressing.
Snack - 2 cups mint green tea
D - some chicken & brocolli frozen meal with pasta - it was 250 calories and pretty tasty actually.
Snack - frozen banana, some ice, water & 1 WW chocolate protein shake packet - all blended together - soo yummmm
Bed time snack - sugar free vanilla pudding cup (60 cal)

Days that I haven't made salad for lunch I have been bringing soup and then having the salad for dinner. Tonight I'm actually going to make a chicken stir fry. I took out the chicken this morning and marinated it in Teryaki sause so I'm pretty excited about that - I still hate cooking for myself though.
My nights have been pretty boring without hubby around but I have been getting to bed early and getting loads of sleep. Can't complain about that. One more week till he is back and I'm sure I can smash some pounds keeping up this routine! I'm feeling really good about being on track and fitting into my clothes again for Vegas!!
Ok I've already been on here too long so I gotta run! Hope everyone is doing good and being healthy!! Tomorrow is weigh-in! I hope I don't have to move my ticker up - positive thoughts!
 
HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER!!!! (I did that in caps because I imagined yelling it. Don't ask.) Awwww I believe this as a test for all of us - our goddess of motivation is on an internet vacation. We must sustain! I honestly believe you'll get better and do absolutely fine come running time :) Just remember we are here rooting for you!

So check this out, and how amazing it is!! I am part of this bartering site called Itex and it is AMAZING woman!! OMG!!! So I checked the rooms at the Treasure Isand..and they were going for $140 a night, so with taxes over $300 for the both nights. :conehead: Eh.... BUT with Itex...I got the rooms and I only have to pay the taxes $77 dollars out of pocket! The rest is fake itex money..exchanged in goods and services!!

AND...I am getting a list of restaurants and shows and other things that are available to me through Itex as well!! OMG!!! And I'm getting the rental car on ITEX and just paying the taxes! So I'm thinking LUXARY CAR!!! hahah! That would be super cool if I could get 5 show tickets for Friday night somewhere and see if you guys wanted to come! I end up working the services off, but who knows you guys might be interested! I'll post the list for you when I get it! Maybe you'll like something on there too! :)

It's going to be SO MUCH FUN!!!! Your plans sound FANTASTIC!! I am all for doing the activities you have planned! The only request my friend Tish had was if we could relax down by the pool for a little with drinks. Who knows! ...Her being the STICK that she is (in a good way) loves to be in a bikini! hahahahah ...Me on the other hand...wellllll...let's just say This Bitch has to WORK for it!!! :D! Then we'll talk pool! hahah!

A club sounds FANTASTIC!!! ...My friend Ivette is going to be down there that weekend too, and sometimes she gets those club enterances...but regardless being GIRLS and hot ones ;) I don't see any difficulty finding a way to get us in somewhere free! :D! **Cross fingers** I hope!

So I plan to pickup the car rental Friday at 6am and get on the road by 7:30am. I think it will take about 4- 4 1/2 hours depending on traffic, but we should be able to link up for lunch somewhere I'm thinking!

I used to be a huge gambler (like go to the casinos 2 times a week for black jack) but it's been so long since I have done that. Old town Vegas is GREAT for those tables too! Such low minimums and the odds are better because they play with less decks! Being in a tournament sounds great! I'm not sure what will be going on at that time...maybe I will have show tickets if in case you want to catch a show, or me and Tish can catch one while you are watching the tournament, and link up later! Either way....we will all mend to each others desires and find a way to do it ALL!!!!!

That is so awesome Alta! Great way to start my day by hearing news like this! OK so a couple things - we are staying at NewYork NewYork - not sure if I was clear because you talked about Treasure Island and we don't have to stay at the same hotel but it might make things easier for meeting up and I think Treasure Island is pretty far from NewYork NewYork. I could be wrong though.
Yes I totally plan to drink all day and night so it will for sure be fun drunk times! My sisters like to drink too!
We don't want to watch a texas hold em tournament but go in one - like one with a $35 anty or something. Last time I went I came in 7th out of 49 people and I was the last girl so this time I want to win!! Then drinks will be on me if I do!
I'm not sure the weather will be warm enough to sit by a pool. You would know better than me but I thought it wasn't that warm that time of year and they start to close the pools up. I know my sisters won't want to do that but if my sister's husband ends up coming that's his favourite thing to do!
OHHHHHH I'm SOOO Excited!!!

Ok so yesterday was another great day and it seems to be getting easier and easier as the week goes on. I'm really planning on being good the next 7 days and so far feel like the weekend won't be a problem. I have no desire's to drink either which is great. Here's how yesterday looked:

Exercise - 1 hour of kettle bell class - tons of swings & push-ups, sit-ups and planks.
D#2 - 2 corn on the cob with a drizzle of olive oil & salt
Bed time snack - sugar free vanilla pudding cup (60cal)

And my weigh in this morning!! 152.8 - yeah! no need to move my ticker up - I think I even get to lower it a pound. I'm super pumped about everything in life right now - except that my hubby is out of town but he is doing good and making us lots of money! My girlfriend wants to go to kettle bell tomorrow morning at 9am so I'm so excited to have motivation to get up that early and go! 3 kettle bell classes this week is awesome! I hope to keep it up!
Tonight my parents are coming over for dinner and then I might go to the gym or just go on my treadmill in the evening. I plan to get to bed early.
Saturday I have kettle bell at 9am and then I'm going to clean my house top to bottom and then a friend is having a family bbq at her house - I have no desire to cheat or drink so I think I will be strong and keep my portions small.
Sunday - I have to clean my car out because the lease is up next month and I'm turning it in. I might go for a run outside if the weather permits or hit up the gym. Probably sleep lots and be lazy. Then hubby's family is having a bbq so I'm just going to pop in and make an appearance - it's not as fun hanging out with them when he is not around.
So I have my weekend planned and no where is there room for messing up! Next Friday I hope to see 149.something. It's a big goal but I know if I'm good over the weekend and all week again I will get there!! i'm determined! I'm going to work hard. I love feeling my strength coming back.
On a sad note I checked the marathon pictures website and they didn't get any pictures of me doing the half - not even at the finish line. Since my mom missed me too at the finish I didn't get any pictures of me with my bib and all. I'm kinda dissapointed because it would have been great for memories and to look back at years to come. Oh well I'll just have to sign up for another one now!

I'm so jealous about your Las Vegas holiday. That's next on my list of new places to go but probably won't be for a few years yet.
Shame you didn't get photos of the marathon.

149 will be so exciting, and you're so close, I'm sure you can do it! That stinks that you don't have any pictures from the half, I wish I had some just from my 5Ks, I'd DEFINITELY want one if I did anything more than that! But being able to say that your mom WOULD have taken a picture but you just finished way too quickly for her is an ok thing, too :)
 
Man, I am so jealous of your VEGAS trip! It's a good thing I have a trip coming up, I'm traveling to ATLANTA to help a friend move. It'll be four of us, but we really aren't going to work. She just wants us to come down and have four days of fun while the movers handle everything! Yeah, so I am kicking it into high gear. I have 3 weeks. Oh, check it out.....I'm going to kettlebell class tonight!
