135 Here I Come!!

Wow, you're my new hero. You're up there with Jjjay. I've never run faster than 5mph. Great going on both speed and distance. :)
Thank you! You'll be there too in no time! I used to run at 5.5 mph and just slowly worked my way up. The more I've been doing the past two weeks the easier it seems to get. I'm hoping to be able to do 7mph for at least 5km before the half so I'm going to keep working at it. Thanks again for the encouragement!

LISA!!! Its been sooo long since I've spoken to you! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH! :grouphug: And your Married!!! Congrats hun! You were SUCH a BEAUTIFUL bride! I hope to look half as stunning as you did when (if i ever lol) I get married. I'm so sad and sorry that I had been away so long and that I missed the days that were leading up to your wedding. But I am SO happy for you! How are you and the Hubby doing? (You have a hubby woohoo!!)Work has been so crazy that I let it get in the way of me getting on here and I HATED being away from you and all of the other amazing girls, but I feel like I am back to stay this time, I missed you girls way too much to make it a habbit of not coming on here. Between going to Vegas, Having a cousin come and stay with me from texas, stress, work and lack of exercise and motivation I have packed on a few pounds...I am ready to get back to working hard with you. I am so excited for you that your marithon is coming up, your traning sounds great so far! You kick serious butt when your good and ready! Well hun, I missed you and I am just glad to be reading your posts again! xoxo

WOW I didn't think I'd ever hear from you again! So great to see you back! Once this half marathon is over I really want to work on my eating but for now I'm just concentrating on running and making sure I'm getting enough carbs and protein to keep my energy up for my runs. I thought it would be easy to loose weight while training but the more I read and after the last two weeks I realize it's not the best and especially not the easiest.
Hubby is getting more on board with being healthy as I keep reminding him we want babies and his parts plays as much a role as mine and that he can't change all his bad behaviours over night so he should start now. He also likes checking the scale to see if it's moved - it's pretty funny.
Anyway so excited to have you back - I could barely believe it when I saw you commented on my journal. Did you look at my wedding pics on the last page of the journal "1 month to go"? I love all the pics so much!

Glad to hear that you have been able to get your husband working on his healthy habits. :) will be much funner and easier if you do it together, i bet. i always eat better with my boyfriend, and he cooks it really well, which makes it easier and a fun thing to do with him :) good job on the running, btw. i'm on a break right now, doing p90x. can't wait to get back into it. you go girl!! :D

How in the hell can you stay on a treadmill for 6.8 miles?!?! I can barely make it to 4! LOL You are doing soooo good with your running, you will be MORE than ready for the half marathon! Is your only goal to make it in 2 1/2 hours? My goal was to not stop running - sometimes I was jogging so slow but that was my goal and it felt great to be able to say I did it! 2 1/2 hours is great timing and I think you should have no problem meeting that goal!

Eating hasn't been the greatest for me this week either, but I am back on track today and have even vowed to not drink tonight while watching football! I'm sure as soon as the game starts I'm going to want to crack open a beer.. eek! If I get tempted I will try to just stay with one or two. It's the weekend for me now anyway :p Hopefully weigh in will go good tomorrow.. and good luck with yours! :)

Thanks for stopping by! I would imagine it's not a very fun break, lol!

I actually really like the treadmill as long as I have my music! The time goes by fast if I don't keep looking down at the miles. I'm actually going to attempt 8 miles on it tonight - I would love to try it outside but it's raining and not supposed to stop anytime soon.
My goal for the half is also to not stop running - even if I have to go down to 4 mph jogging I'm not stopping - even for the big hills!! I've been playing around with the incline while on the treadmill to get some experience and it's so hard. I just wish I could have a good day weather wise to get outside. I realize it could be raining that morning and I'll have to run in the rain anyway but I'm really hoping that doesn't happen.
My eating has been crap and it's making me feel crappy too. My pants this morning were so tight and not comfortable at work yet I know what I can do to fix it and I just can't turn down the bad food.
I took yesterday off running as planned and hubby ended up winning the baseball finals so we went to the bar with the team and had beers and pub food :reddevil: It was fun though but I'm tired today. I'm too old to drink and stay up late on work nights - isn't that sad?
Not looking good for weigh-in tomorrow. Next week's a new week :hurray:

^ I second that thought. I just gave in and got a chocolate shake with brownie pieces and marshmallow cream in it. Yes, yes, I did. And now my stomach hurts sooooo bad! IDK if I'm going to weigh in tomorrow :-/ I know next week will be much better!!!

Wow great job with the running I am envious that you can run that far! I am too embarrassed to run outdoors but I see so many gorgeous women running with AMAZING legs that I would die for hehe. I get self concious doing any kind of activity even when I'm alone lol! congrats on the marriage and the over coming of your hurdles. I have only just joined but I look forward to tracking your amazing progress! :)

Oh boy Sarah - that sounds sooo good! Glad I didn't read that last night or I would have been craving ice cream. I didn't want to step on the scale either but as I always say gotta face the music and use it as motivation for next week!

Thank you for stopping by!! I bet if you got out there and tried it you would love it and not care anymore. I just enjoy it so much I don't think of other people around me - it's just me and my music. I'm sure you will find something you really enjoy and others won't stand in your way. I wish I had those nice runners legs your talking about but I have lots of work ahead of me to get there - one day at a time I guess! Thanks again for stopping by and I'll be sure to check out your journal.

Ok so finally I had a good day minus one chocolate covered granola bar (140 cal) before bed. I wouldn't of had it because I brought a pear to eat as my bed time snack but the cat started crying to go out and me and hubby argued for about 15 minutes who was going to get up and let him out and I lost the bet so I got up and the thought of chocolate entered my mind for one minute and that's all it took for it to be in my hands. It was hubby's last bar and he was mad he didn't have any to bring to work today and I reminded him that I've told him to hid them a million times and if he doesn't this is what happens yet he refuses to hid them and says I should just have better will power. So I'm blaming it on him even though he is probably right:icon_bs:
Ok here is how it went down yesterday:
B - 1 cup fresh strawberries, silhouette yogurt & 1/3 cup all bran buds
Snack - 2 cups mint green tea
L - big veggie salad w 1 can tuna drained in water & ff dressing
Snack - 1 cup mint green tea
Exercise - 9.5 miles (15.2km's) on the treadmill in just under 90 minutes!!! Warmed up .3miles at 4mph, then stretch then ran at 6.7 mph for 6 miles! Finished at 6.5 mph and cooled down for .2 miles at 3.8 mph. I was soaked in sweat but I loved it and could have kept going at 6.5 mph - plus I had incline at 1. I burned over a 1000 cal! It felt great. Long stretch to end it.
D - 1 cup baked brown beans in tomato sauce, 4oz boneless pork chop w onions, 1 sweet potato cut up into fries and baked. Yumm - I love it when I go to the gym and hubby has dinner ready for me when I get home!!!
Snacks - 12 cherries, pear, 1 granola bar
So I finally had a good calorie day and I'm feeling better this morning. Plus I have been really good at getting my water in - probably at least 3 litres a day and lots of green tea too. I also did about 20 kettle bell swings with my 25 lb bell at home during commercials and more stretching. My knees were a little sore last night but this morning I'm not sore at all - that really surprises me but I'm assuming it was because I was running on the treadmill and not outside. Also while I was running I could feel my hip flexors were getting a little sore near mile 8 but once I was off they were fine. I'm getting more and more excited for the half! Today I'm going to try 5km at 7mph.
This weekend we have some exciting plans. Tonight we are camping with friends, Saturday night we are going to hubby's sisters house warming party and Sunday we are taking off to the US to do some golfing with my parents and are going to spend the night in Grand Marais since it's the long weekend. So it's probably not going to be the best for eating but I hope to get another 15km run in outside Saturday and I don't plan to drink other than Friday.
I'll let you know how it goes Tuesday! Have a great long weekend forum friends! Oh one last thing - weigh-in this morning was 153.8 so I think I gained a couple 100 grams or something - nothing crazy but I could have lost if I didn't have so many chips - next week will be better!!

Sounds like you had a really great day and lots of fun on the way. Your eating habits might not be perfect over the weekend but hey, we gotta live a little right? :p You are definately making an impression on me with the running hehe. With your kind of motivation you'll be at your goal in no time! Hope you have fun! :)

Sounds like a good day to me. Don't worry about the granola bar, that won't matter much one way or the other in the long run.

Hope you have a good weekend! I love Grand Marais. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant we went to while we were there. It's by the water and it looks like a total dive, but the food there is really yummy! They use higher quality ingredients and it really shows. I had a walleye fillet that I would drive all the way up there just to have again, it was that good. Also, if you get a chance, climb out on the big flat rocks in the water. You can see the names carved by people waiting for boats back when the only way in or out of the town was by water. It's really neat.

Good job with the running but it sounds like your eating is still giving you problems. I have been trying something new, for me anyway. The past 6 weeks I have been trying to gain muscle so I haven't been focused on eating light. I have actually been eating more calories. However, I have been eating very healthy. Very few sweets and fatty foods. Also much less alcohol and a lot more water. Amazingly it has been very easy to say no to junk food. I feel full all the time and don't crave the foods I normally do. In 6 weeks I have lost 6 to 7 lbs of fat and gained 6 to 7 pounds of muscle. My point is, when you are eating really healthy, you really won't crave the junk food as much as you fear. I've noticed it in the past when I lost 58 pounds in 12 months. I guess I just forgot about it.

Keep on kicking butt with the running but watch out for shinsplints!

I say after 9.5 miles on the treadmill you deserved that darn granola bar! Perhaps I shouldn't be promoting rewarding yourself with chocolate covered things, but jeez, 9.5 miles?? That's awesome! You are so my inspiration right now.

congratulations on your marriage and your weight loss :). we have very similar goals...so I just may forum-stalk you for motivation! don't worry. i'm harmless. really.

keep up the good work!

I have to thank you for writing this, even though it had nothing to do with me... for some reason it was that little inspiration I needed to get me to successfully complete my first 5K on the treadmill this morning! I've been struggling with the whole speed vs. distance issue for a few weeks now, which resulted in me being able to complete a 5k when it was an organized event, but not when I actually had to manually tell my body how fast to run. I always set myself at 5.8 mph even though I knew I couldn't keep that up for 3 miles. Hearing about your progress and being so impressed with where you are now helped me to get on the treadmill today and be ok with 5.5. So THANK YOU!!!

7mph on a treadmill is pretty darn fast in my opinion. I never got there. Not that I was ever fast but still, 7mph is a good pace on a treadmill. You should be a little faster on the street.

9.5 miles on the treadmill?!?!?! Are you kidding me?!?!?! Damn girl, I was blown away when you said you ran 6.5 miles on it but NINEEE AND A HALF!?! I could barley handle a 5K on the treadmill this morning! LOL I am getting so excited for your half marathon knowing how much ass you are already kicking!!! :D

Hope you had a great weekend... where is Grand Marais?? I've never heard of it before. Let's have a good week - eating AND working out - we have to get it right!!! Chat with you later :)

You are definately making an impression on me with the running hehe. With your kind of motivation you'll be at your goal in no time! Hope you have fun! :)
Thank you - I'm not sure about being at goal in no time but however long it takes I will get there - one day! Glad I could make an impression on you!

Hope you have a good weekend! I love Grand Marais. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant we went to while we were there. It's by the water and it looks like a total dive, but the food there is really yummy!
Thanks Mizzie - it was a fun weekend. There are so many good restaurants there and around the area! I love the area too. It was too cold to get down to the water but maybe next time!

it sounds like your eating is still giving you problems.
Keep on kicking butt with the running but watch out for shinsplints!
Thanks Derrick - I wish I could be as good with my eating but as soon as I have a bite of something I shouldn't I want more! I just need to go cold turkey and stock up on clean eating foods for a week and I know those cravings will go away. I've never got shinsplints before and I hope I never do!

I understand that a granola bar won't derail me after burning so many calories it's just that as soon as I get that taste in my mouth or the chemicals of the processed food I want and crave more... I should have had a protein shake or just went to bed!
congratulations on your marriage and your weight loss :). we have very similar goals...so I just may forum-stalk you for motivation! don't worry. i'm harmless. really.
keep up the good work!
Awesome!! I love stalkers! No really it would be great to see you around and I'll be sure to check out your journal if you've started one as well!!

Wow you exercise hardcore.
And your food is so healthy and delish.
Good job.
Well sometimes it's this way...other times not so much :) thank you though for the encouragement!

for some reason it was that little inspiration I needed to get me to successfully complete my first 5K on the treadmill this morning!

That's good to hear you think I would be faster on the road - I need to get out there more! I ran 7 mph on Friday but only for .5 miles and had to drop it back down - it is pretty fast!!

Thanks Sarah! 9.5 miles actually wasn't that bad. The first 20 minutes are the hardest and then it just gets easier for some reason. Maybe I just stop thinking about it and just concentrate on my tunes.
Grand Marais is in Minnesota - not too far from you I don't think - you should google it. It's a small town but lots of nice golf courses.

Ok so I'm back from the long weekend! I love all the comments I got while I was away! That made me feel really good this morning and ready to tackle the week ahead. Here's how the weekend turned out:
Friday - went to the gym after work and ran 5km's on the treadmill - got up to 7 mph but only for .5 miles and had to bring the speed back down. Ate healthy all day and we decided to go to a friends camp for the night. We got there and the power was out and their oil heater had ran out of oil so it was freezing! Luckily I brought my toque and long john's and extra socks but it was so cold!! Like 0 degrees Celcius cold! We called hydro and they said it should be back in a hour or so so we started drinking. I was mixing my drinks pretty strong because the alcohol was warming me up. We had brought pizza to make in the oven but since the power was out we were out of luck. So it was good I couldn't eat bad but I hadn't had dinner and mixing it with all the booze I ended up passing out at like 11pm. I woke up absolutely frozen because the power never ended up coming back on and I had a bad headache and was starving!
Saturday - lied on the couch under a million blankets all day and ate that pizza that never ended up getting made. Went out to my parents for dinner and then back home to the couch - really lazy day.
Sunday - woke up at 7am to head out for our golf get-a-away with my parents. Drove a couple hours to the course and ended up getting into some beer. I had 6 beer while we played 19 holes and was pretty tipsy after that. Checked in at our hotel and went for dinner. Since most of our meals were at restaurants I know the calories were pretty high but I still picked some what good choices. Continued with the wine at dinner and think I had 4 glasses. Walked back to our room and passed out pretty early - not much snacking in between meals which was good.
Monday - woke up and went to another golf course and played another 18 holes of golf - this time only having two beers! I played pretty good and my shoulders are sore from all the swinging! We stopped at Grand Portage for dinner and played some slots - overall it was a great bonding weekend with my parents and hubby. Everyone got a long great and had lots of laughs.
I haven't exercised since Friday well unless you call golf exercise.
Tonight I am going out running even if this rain continues. I want to spend the next two weeks getting as much practice outside as I can.
Ok this is getting really long but I also wanted to tell you some really exciting news!! I'm going to Las Vegas Oct. 15th weekend for my sister's 35th birthday!!! She is getting me a deal on the flight and she won a bunch of money at the casino (over $22,000) so she gave me $500 which I am going to use to go on the trip! Hubby used his money to buy some drums so he's staying home! It's going to be my two sisters and another friend and I'm so pumped! It's going to be great motivation for me the next month and I'm going to use it towards my advantage with eating and exercise!!
Ok I think that's it for now! Cheers to a great week ahead!!

Hey Lisa,

You have been doing SO great with your training! You really kick serious butt when you work out! I have no doubts that you are going to do amazingly well in your marithon. Your running is so inspiring, even thought your not at the weight that you want to be you have to be pretty darn fit and healthy do do what you do! Sounds like you had a great long weekend with your parents and hubby and your eating didn't sound bad at all!

I am so excited for you that you are going to Vegas! You are going to love it! Money goes so fast there so save up from now until then! Hope your day is fun and healthy!

p.s. in response to your last post, I did see all of your wedding pics from your old diary and you looked BEAUTIFUL, simply stunning! You and hubby make a picture perfect couple!
