120 pounds lost... should I lose more?

That article is bullshit and your continued ignorant advice is becoming obnoxious.

Neither you or the author of that article have any experience with losing large amounts of weight, or with someone who has been overweight for a very long time losing weight.

Loose skin does exist and it's NOT just excess fat. When you are older, have been extremely overweight, have been overweight for a very long time, or any combination of those, it is possible to have loose skin that requires surgical removal.

There is no such thing as "loose skin" - this "phenomena" is simply known as excess body fat.

When you've watched a loved one go through cardiac surgery, bloat with 60lbs of water weight, and then deflate back down to a wrinkled saggy mess, you know that loose skin does indeed exist and not just because of 'fat'.

Even your quote is disillusioned. Plenty of well-informed health care professionals struggle with eating disorders and weight issues.

You are just astonishingly ignorant. It makes me sad for you. It is apparent nothing I say will crack your limited knowledge either because you refuse to become informed or have some other personality disorder where you can not accept reality. I am just going to stop trying to inform you since it is pointless.

Relientkrox you are beautiful :) Stop loosing or keep loosing just do it with safety in mind. You have accomplished so much and should be very proud of yourself. You are an inspiration to many who are starting out and wondering if it is possible. You prove it is. Wonderful work!

Really? Perhaps you'd like to view an anatomical diagram of the three skin layers - epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis (subcutaneous layer).

The maximum thickness of the epidermis in a human is ~1.5mm. The maximum thickness of the dermis in a human is ~3.0mm. As you can see from the diagram, the hypodermis (subcutaneous layer) is composed of roughly 90% adipose tissue (fat). The small percentage remainder of the hypodermis is composed of blood veins and connective tissue.

So, what are the two main types of fat that make us fat? Visceral (below the muscles), and subcutaneous (between the skin and the muscles). What fat is first to go when one starts losing weight? Visceral. Loss of large amounts of visceral fat causes dramatic changes in body size, but the subcutaneous fat is still mostly there. Without the previous visceral fat extending the skin, the thick subcutaneous fat makes the skin flabby and even hang. Losing subcutaneous fat is incredibly difficult - this is why bodybuilders have to follow such strict diets before competitions. Whey they get down to 3-5% body fat, nearly all of this 3-5% body fat is in the form of subcutaneous adipose tissue. The less they have, the more "shredded" (striated) their muscles appear.

Yeah, after 10 years of carrying around 75 extra lbs, followed by a fairly rapid weight loss, I have this stuff, too. I have it on my stomach, back of thighs, and on my butt. It's disgusting. One thing I will bet on: It will be gone by the summer and I will have a six-pack along with tight skin, and there will be no surgery required.

Great. YOu come back and show us photos in 6 months.

I am 5 5.75 and my goal weight is around 140. I think you should continue until you feel right. I have a medium to large so when I was 137 my family was complaining...alot. Everyone thought i looked too skinny. I am small from the waist up so I was looking pretty boney in the collar bone region! I think you look GREAT and 130 should be fine. They will get used to you.

I would love to hear more about what you did to have such great success and how long it took you.

"I'm 5'6 and 1/2 (169 cm) tall and currently weigh 176 pounds. My goal weight is 130 pounds. What is your opinion? Should I continue on?"

Congratulations on the weight loss. I agree with all the others that say you look great. I'm glad to see you do since I am about the same height and weight and well satisfied with it. I'm not really motivated to get much slimmer, but if you are I think the advice about a Dr.'s input and considering your percentage of fat is good. You've been exercising and probably have a good foundation of muscle and may find that you don't need to go any lower than 150 for perfection.

They main thing is how you feel. Are you comfortable with your weight? Are you healthy? Are you eating well and exercising? All these things must be taken into consideration.

well done

well done for coming dis far, u already look amazing. healthy weight for sum 1 ur height shud fall between 114 lbs - 154. if nt 130 bt u still wanna go on 2 achieve healthy weight. its again depends on u, what you feel personally 150 u shud b slightly chubby n being 130 or under you'd prolly go in skinny range nt tht its unhealthy. it depends on on what kind of body shape you want n what size you want you can jus gain lean muscle n not lose much which will give your body tht shape you want n not lose much weight. i m 5' 7 weigh 177 lbs n i m nt happy with my weight n da way i look because

1. its unhealthy for my height
2. n i dnt feel good with the way i look

bt still i dnt wanna go lower dan 140 because i dnt wanna aquire skinny kind shape..its all personal choice bt keep in healthy range
so its personal choice after 154...nways amazing transformation already ...

This is so amazing! You are doing a really, REALLY good job! I know what you mean about the family thing....I am over weight and uncomfortable and my family is saying "You look good now, you can stop." and my skinny friends are not supportive and say I'm skinny. ANYWAYS stick with your goal, I am sure you will do great :)

140 for 5 7, may be just fine. It depends on your build and body composistion. I am just under 5 6 and 140 may be fine for me with my build. When I was 135 ish everyone said i was skinny and my son recently saw a video of me at that weight and he said in shock, "Look at your arms!" He thought I was too thin too. I actually felt ok but I was just so excited to be that low....I think 140 would be good for me

Way to go beautiful!

what steps did you take to lose that much? amazing; and it was in such a sort amount of time. AMAZING!

wow , that amazing ,
you are looking really really REALLY good

well , if you want to continue , do not stop ..
and if you decided to continue , can't wait to see the other "after" pic ! :) :) :)

You look awesome right now! If you are comfortable losing more weight, then go for it, but you look healthy and happy as is. Don't let the opinion of others sway you, do what you think is right as long as you lose the weight in a "healthy" way. Good luck, such motivation!
