10 days off :(, my muscles!!!!!

 Hi everyone. I have an injury in my inner thight (the abductor) while doing romanian deadlift, i guess i overstretched the muscle. As a consequence, i cannot do leg press, deadlift, anything for at least 10 days (aprox.). My question is, am i gonna loose muscle mass? a lot? a lil? probably?
Tnx!

coz..

One of the personal trainers that work at my gym told me that i needed to give the muscle/tendon or whatever is wrong there, at least 10 days before lifting heavy, coz if its not healed, the condition will worsen.

Well it's difficult to evaluate the situation without knowing exactly whats wrong.. I'd wait 10 days w/o lifting and if it still hurts see a doctor and look into an MRI.

...

whats an MRI?

well i guess its hard for me to tell what exactly is wrong, especially coz im new with this injury thing lol. Only thing i know it was due to the romanian deadlift, coz everytime i do it, i feel a huge stretch on the inner thighs. well, i still have to practice to get it right, but its so darn difficult.

Anyways, for the moment im putting ice where the pain is, applying some gel for inflammation, stretching once in a while, and trying not to get desperate.

Any suggestion on what to do to heal faster?

you've probably seen somebody get an MRI on TV before. It's where you lie down on this thing and you go throught sort of like a big machine very slowly and you can't move at all while going through. Sorry bout my bad descriptions, try google...And yes like other users have said 10 days off and you won't lose anything at all. Usually when i take a week off i do my last workout on a friday and than don't do anything until the monday week and i'm fine when i go back...

...

Streamline how often do you take a week off?

oh tnx by the way for the description, i didnt know that procedure by its name lol.

Chiquita, how severe is the pain? How much inflamation is there? Where is the inflamation exactly? It sounds to me like you may have torn the muscle or tendon, at least a little. If this is the case you need to be very carefull with it, and 10 days is not enough time off.

If the muscle is torn, even slightly, it will need more time to heal. If you do not let it heal properly, and start training heavy again, you could injure it worse. I would give it at least 2 weeks off, then start back with some light weight training (half the weight you were using to injure it) on it and light stretching (stretch to the point of slight discomfort, not pain.) for another 2 weeks. If you do not rehabilitate this properly you will develop scar tissue within the muscle and lose a ton of strength and flexibility in that leg.

well, it was saturday when i was doing the romanian dlfs, but with no weight, it was just practicing (well i guess i did to much reps, and everytime i did, i felt a huge stretch in the inner thing). I felt a burn, but i thought it was a "good burn", i guess it wasnt. Well i didnt feel the big pain until i was leg pressing (feet high) goshhhh that hurt!.

Im able to walk perfectly, and i dont feel any pain until i actually touch the area (which is in the innnnner thight, way in ). Ive been icing, and applying get to it, but the pain doesnt get any better, and its been a week now. Also, i dont know if im imagining it but i kindda feel a very slight bump there.
By the way, could i do at least some machines like the leg curl and extensions in the meantime? i mean, 2 weeks its too much without doing anything :(

Approximately every 8 - 10 weeks i take a full seven days off and do no exercise but still diet. Other people may do it differently. I actually find it hard taking a week off because sometimes that physological barrier of doing nothing for a week can be too much it's good to give your body a rest though.
