1 month no progress. Advice?

I was hoping that someone could help me out a bit here. I started working out about a month ago. I do weights and cardio four days a week. I get my cardio work in on the elliptical, and on days I lift I do between 35-50 minutes. Then I have been working in 1 or 2 longer cardio sessions on days I don't do weights. I'm trying to lose body fat, not necessarily just lose weight. I have also changed my diet and no longer eat much junk food.

My problem is that I don't feel that I'm making any progress. I didn't check my weight when I first started but two weeks ago I checked my weight and I was at 206 lbs. Last week I was at the exact same and this week I weighed in at 205. I know I said my goal wasn't just weight loss, but come on I figured I would see some drop in weight. It's kind of discouraging to not see the scale moving. I have noticed a boost in energy and mood however. I've also been feeling stronger and have been able to increase the amount of weight I work out with. But still; one stinking pound in a month? What gives? Any advice?

muscle weighs more than fat. so you may be burning fat and packing on muscle. therefore you're not seeing results on the scale. you got to give it more time than 1 month dude. if you don't see much progress in about 3 months than you have to change something up. but as for now keep at it. what you are experiencing is normal

Not eating junk food is good, but you also have to make sure you are at a caloric deficit to actually lose the fat. Check you food consumption....

^^ This. For a beginner such as yourself, it's not uncommon to both gain muscle and lose fat at the same time, at least for the time being. This is precisely why weight is not, yes not a good measure of progress. Body fat is much better. If you knew your bodyfat and/or took measurements, however, you could compare the values and you would know if you had gained muscle or not.

Hi, Just wondering when you sai you changed your diet, in what way did you change it? Maybe it's no balanced in mineral and vitamin.

reason not making progress

First, as a previous reply said, muscle weighs more than fat, so you may be fitter even if the scale doesn't show it. Have you taken measurements?

Also, it's DECEPTIVELY easy to be consuming more calories than you think. Try keeping a journal for a week and you might be surprised (or shocked) to see what the total is. Did you know that one piece of Starbucks raspberry cheesecake has over 600 calories?!?! Even "healthy" foods can rack up the calories quickly if you're not paying attention. Try writing it all down.
