Sounds kind of like Onward Christian Soldiers...Up, up, and onward we go!
No, not for long anyway. We never give up, we never give up

I hope it is too, Rob.Today was a good day, I ate pretty well and got in some exercise. I think my right arm is getting a little stronger, I sure want to believe it is. The PT people have been giving me some pretty specific exercises to help wake those muscles up, I think it might be working, albeit slowly...
It sure is. I feel like I'm just muddling through at the moment too.Rather than winning this feels a bit more like muddling through, but I guess that's how a lot of life is.
oh good glad it's not just me!Muddling through is what 99% of life is, isn't it?
It is a little hard for me to sort out slow strengthening from just feeling more confident in being able to push harder, but I think its slowly happening. Though I am still much weaker than before surgery.I hope it is too, Rob.
I'm looking forward to the new year also.It sure is. I feel like I'm just muddling through at the moment too.
Imagine how good we're going to feel in the new year![]()
Yeah, I guess it is.Muddling through is what 99% of life is, isn't it?
Nice to know we are not alone, isn't it?oh good glad it's not just me!
It can be hard to be sure how much of the gain is real vs getting better at the compensation. However the Physical Therapists have give me exercises where it is harder to use the compensating muscles. Not good at them, but I think getting better...Yay for gaining strength! Even if it's slow, it's a big win. Especially if you'd been compensating for a while.
Thanks Cate, and I am also optimistic about 2023. Nothing foolish about getting out on the golf course, good for you!I'm starting to feel more positive about the new year as I get better & I'm sure you will too, Rob. 2023 has been such a mixed-up year & you have had major surgery. I (maybe foolishly) played 9 holes of golf yesterday & slept for half the afternoon & all of the night. I understand fully that you were tired after working in the gym. We'll get stronger, Rob. I think we're both fairly stubborn & determined![]()
Sure, but also you've been practicing your compensating muscles for a while. They wouldn't normally suddenly get stronger now.It can be hard to be sure how much of the gain is real vs getting better at the compensation.
Wow that's neat!Today was a decent day, I ate relatively well, exercised and feel good tonight. Got my x-rays for the 6 week follow up visit on Thursday. Seems I have some new jewelry, a kind of internal necklace.

Thanks Cate, just wish I had stopped at one over the holidays...Well done on stopping at one chocolate, Rob. We were given a little tin of Christmas chocolates by one of G's sisters & they were truly disgusting- just fat & sugar & didn't taste anything like the description. Not moreish at all. Phew!
Playing golf probably wasn't foolish but it felt like it was before I played. I'm glad I did.
Still not much stronger, still weaker than presurgery. I see the Dr about my MRI Friday, will see what he says.Sure, but also you've been practicing your compensating muscles for a while. They wouldn't normally suddenly get stronger now.
Thanks, just wish it felt neat.Wow that's neat!
Thanks Liza, and I did have a good Christmas, all but the food anyway...Hope you're having a nice Christmas Rob!
