First to 6 pack

Hi all me and my BF are having a race to see who can get a 6 pack first haha :) He sorta has one going.. dosnt have much to do.

But i dont know how long it is gonna take me.. im pretty thin but not much muscle on me lol

He has bench press & weights and i have nothinggg haha
So what im asking is what excersises can i do to help me? I currently go for jogs nearly every day & eat pretty healthy.

Help? I have to win this!

Thanks all :)

6 packs as far as i know are mainly diet based. So try to avoid fatty foods and watch the amount you take in everyday.
Exercise wise: crunches work but i dont like them as they are functional - instead I like to do planks, side planks and these are meant to be good: bicycle exercise and the product '6 second abs' i found very good too.

I agree with the previous poster. A lot of it has to do with diet. Trust me all those bench presses your friends does won't help.

Avoid foods high in sugar and fatty foods. Eat protein and carbs that are high in fiber.

As for exercises. There are a bunch you can do.

I have a blog where I talk about this stuff. (signature)

But, I've picked out some posts you may find informative.

There are others too.

Best of Luck to you!

P.S - I rooting for you!

Emm,

If you want a six pack and are racing for it don't just focus on diet, as they are suggesting...lol...

Attack the race from every direction and attack your abs as such, too.

You clearly stated you have a lack of muscle therefore having a six pack is most unlikely for you and they aren't even encouraging you to build yourself abs since all they do is talk about diet.

I'll help ya if you like, PM me but here is some info:

You need to build the muscle before you get it to show.

Since you are focused on abs and want them fast, you should only concentrate on them and their stabilizers. (Muscle used to help your abs.)

Post me your diet and if you care, a photo of your abs. Don't need a face or anything that might reveal your identify - do this only if you want, no pressure.

What you will want to do start with are simple exercises, to get those abs used to working out first.

Crunches.
Sit Ups.
Leg Raises.
Planks.
Back hyper extensions (to keep a balance between your stomach and lower back as not cause imbalances that would bring lower back and core pains.)

Then you would start doing more advanced exercises.

Rocky sit ups.
Added weight sit ups.
Added weight planks.
Oblique lifts.
Cable crunches.
Various forms of exercises that activate the core like BW squats, etc.
Cardio.
The list goes on.

Build abs first, then cut off fat to reveal them is the logic to follow.Diet manipulates muscle growth and fat loss. Since you say you have barely any muscle we need to work on building up the abs then cutting the fat off, if any. Building muscle usually makes us gain a slight amount of fat, but do not fear if we can manipulate muscle so easily we can do it with fat too!

These people are trying to make you work in reverse. Tsk tsk.

I'm not going to promote a blog.
I'm not going to charge you a dime.
I don't even expect a thank you.

All I offer is about 20 areas of knowledge and my willingness to put it to use and learn a thing or two from it while helping someone.

That kool with you?

Eric's right. You're thin and have little muscle. Diet is essential for showing a 6-pack....when you have fat. By the sounds of it, you don't have much fat covering up your core, so it will be strengthening your abdominal muscles that will bring out a 6-pack. Follow his advice, and you'll probably get the results you're after.

Of course it is!!

Thanks for all that info :) Makes sense..

I have currently started doing loads of crunches and sit up's & then plank every night b4 i go to bed.. is this ok? I can hold the plank for 2mins max. This is done for like 20mins, and i always have a good sleep after haha

My diet consists of:

6.30am - Breaky, Chopped up banana in some yogurt with a glass of water

10.30am - Snack, small container of various cut up fruit

1pm - Lunch, ham & salad wrap & apple

3.30pm - Snack, usually another peice of fruit

6.30/7pm - Dinner, whatever Mum cooks!

I go for jogs most days around 4pm, i do 7 laps of the local park which is slightly smaller than a sport oval, then walk through the bush (back home) to cool off. This usually takes 35mins. Then i ride my horse after..

I am aware that i have to lose the fat covering my abs - and there is a little there, when i tense i can feel the hardness lol just stupid fat on top is in the way!

I would post a pic, but my camera is stuffed.

P.S I am a 17yo Female.

When I first started getting a six-pack, most of my attention was on my diet, but I didn't forget the exercises.
I have never used one piece of gym equipment for my abs (I have used gym equipment for other muscle groups though) and my six-pack is very visible.
Planks are good aswell as ball-crunches

diet is important but as it seems this is more short term then maybe exercises are more important - though dont forget the diet. :D

quick question, diet is important yep..
but if im eating prunes and dates more than vegetables, does that mean i wont loose any fat due to them being high in carbs and natural sugars?
