Yes, I'm at it again. I injured my back at work, so I was out of it for a while.
My question is this. I'm not asking you to give me a number in pounds, but rather, how should I be feeling with the correct amount of weights in order to build muscle? I have experienced a LOT of muscle loss, and have gained body fat. ("Skinny fat.") I'm not going to worry about losing the fat right now, I just want to focus on rebuilding the muscle first. (I know I keep saying that, but I start to get fatter with higher calories and I freak out. I'm gonna try to stick with it this time.)
So let's say I am doing a set of 10 reps... any part of the body, doesn't matter. Should I be feeling that it's heavy and difficult from the first rep, or say, halfway through? Should I be straining to get through the whole set in order to reap the benefits, or should I just get tired toward the end of the set, yet be able to push my way through? If I can easily get through a set without feeling tired, does that mean it didn't count, and didn't do anything for me? If I'm not sore the next day, does that mean I didn't use enough weight, and should keep adding more?
I don't know if I explained myself well, or if there is an easy answer. If I need to elaborate further, please let me know.
