Toom Much Protein...

How much protein should I consume during workouts and not during? I feel that I'm consuming a bit too much (about .9 grams per 1 pound).

Well each day they say eat at least 1g - 1.5g of protein for each lbs you weigh bud
 
Im roughly 222lb and i make sure i at LEAST get that in grams in a day, i aim higher though.

And your not consuming too much at all, if anything your worry should be are you having enough...
 
I have heard that an excess amount of protein may weaken your body, cause osteoporosis since it depletes calcium in your bones, and damage your kidneys as well. I weigh 140 pounds and have a lean (about 6% body fat) but extremely toned body and would want to remain that way, so wouldn't 1 gram of protein per pound simply be too much for my objective? Oh, and another question, during extremely tough and stressful weeks of college I tend to not exercise for about a week or 2 straight, so, during non-exercising periods (not post-workout periods) should I stop consuming protein?

As mentioned previously, to remain in my form, which is a lean body with 6% body fat and extremely toned as well (btw, sorry if this sounds arrogant, I just want to be specific) and to remain healthy as well. I guess a bit more muscle would do me no harm but I really would like to remain lean instead of becoming bulky and not to acquire any harmful symptoms from too much protein.
 
6% bf? If you make a claim like that, you should really have some pictures with it.

How did you find out you were 6%?
 
I contacted a nutritionists. I have only this much body fat since I attained a very fast metabolism through genetics. If you'd like I could post pictures but what difference would it make, would it answer my question?
 
No it wouldn't. I'm just letting you know that tossing around numbers like that without anything to back them up isn't always a good idea - whether it is true or not.

I would strive for "at least" or "around" your body weight in protein. And, encircle your weight training program with pre and post workout nutrition.

What did your "nutritionists" say about pre and post workout nutrition?

I have a question though. If your "nutritionists" determined your BF percentage, why didn't they assist you with determining proper personal protein consumption? Additionally, what method did they use when they determined your BF %? Just curious.

I cheated though. Ha, ha. I didn't (have a clue) how much it was in American grams (off the top of my head, anyway).
