To all you animal protein, atkins diet etc fans

We Don't have claws, sharp teeth etc, it's only because of our intelligence that we are capable of caputuring and eating meat.

A human could kill a cow with out any tools. Cows are dumb and slow.

In fact, I would rather do that than chase a stupid chicken around.

A human can also kill another human with bear hands and eat them. mmmmm.... human.

Unfortunately cows are only dumb and slow because they are bred to be dumb and slow. They were vicious animals before we domesticated them. No way a human could kill it without some serious spear skill or something

Jigga, please. I could go 12 rounds with a prehistoric cow after being up all night banging his wife.

First thing I'd do is hop on his back and gouge out his eyes. Then I'd spend the next half hour watching him run around in circles. Maybe I'd take a little break to check on the jerky I would be making... out of his family, while he listened, helpless to prevent it.

... There is something seriously wrong with me. Why do I have this thought process. XD

Anyway, all I'm saying is it doesn't take superior intellect or tools to cheapshot an unsuspecting victim. Cougars do it all the time. Both kinds.

This guy was apparently bred to be vicious...

Regardless, he'd be on my dinner plate.

Yeah, and there's nothing wrong with that at all. I agree 100%. You've just never expressed it this cogently before.

Where we disagree is in your insistence on a differentiation between "science" and "experience", like they aren't synonyms. From what you've just said, you believe that cookie cutting is stupid, which I think we can all agree upon, but have a great regard for the scientific method.

Thing is, though, without the generalities you seem to despise so much, how would you know what to try in the first place? Random instinct? Do you really believe it makes more sense for every generation to reinvent the wheel before making progress rather than standing on the shoulders of the giants that came before?

and

I've read the book. There is a good amount of research in it and it draws some logical conclusions, some good conclusions, and a whole lot of dumb conclusions. I found it overstates a lot of things and exaggerates many of its claims. It's really a narrow minded, depersonalized, over-simplified, and over-stated set of research backed conclusions that are really not what is always best for one's health.

Aren't designed to eat meat? What? We are omnivores, if we weren't designed to eat meat, we wouldn't be able to. This is an example of an over-simplified and over-stated conclusion, of which there are many in the book. We are genetically/evolutionarily hunter-gatherers, meaning we should be eating meat, nuts, fruits, veggies, whatever is available. Just because we are much better at digesting fruits and veggies than meats does not mean we should not eat meat. We are unable to digest fiber too; should we cut that out of our diets? We only recently attained the enzymes to digest milk; a lot of the population is still lactose intolerant; should we stop drinking milk? The book has some good info in it, but don't read too much into the bull**** they try to sell you.

If you want good health then put the natural healthy foods in, and keep the sugary and over-processed foods out... pretty simple.

pwn't.

"experience>science" isn't as much as a philosophy of ignorance as you claim.

The Russians made studies in the 60's that is the basis for most everyone who lifts big weights. Just because you don't need to know how to periodize your lifting to go from a 200 kg clean and press to a 205 kg clean and press doesn't mean no one does.

Uhm, Phate. Point of fact: I have been speaking Farsi since I was 8 months old. Well before you learned to crawl, I suspect. I am also an "Iranian" citizen, who was born in that land, and can trace my lineage back to the time of Zoroaster. I'm more Persian than anyone!

.

That's impressive how far you guys have tracked back your family tree.

Reminds me of a saying.

Put two Afghans in a room that don't know each other and they will found out they somehow are related or know each others families.

Focus isn't Afghan, but meh.

P.S Screw Zoroaster. I can trace back my lineage to the Europeans of Alexander the great ( no lie )

Alexander the Great > Zoroaster

My ancestors had a lot of free time; so do my parents. Such is the nature of the wheel on which we turn. Or something else that sounds mystical but doesn't actually reveal or explain anything.

Let's review: Zoroaster was the father of organized benevolent spirituality everywhere, which was unfortunately stolen and corrupted and given spiffy new names like "Christianity", "Islam" and "Judaism" and used as an excuse to mistreat others.

Alexander the Great was the warmongering choad responsible for the Dark Ages and the 800 or so years wasted in leading up to them. I mean honestly. Who murders his own father, frames and attempts to destroy an entire civilization for it, beats up most of the world, and then makes sure it'll be completely ****ed by getting himself killed while all the chips are still on the table.

Your lineage sucks!

My kind of role model :D

I think my eastern European lineage goes back to Alexander the Great as well. I had a great great aunt who did a bunch of genealogy research and traveled to the family's countries of origin and everything. I would guess though that almost anyone with any shred of European origin is related to him in one way or another...

I think there were more families around back then than just Alexander the Great's..

I was thinking the same thing

Apparently I’m a descendent of Louis XIV according to some genealogy tracing service my aunt used. I think it’s about as accurate as using a psychic because everyone gets traced back to someone really interesting and important

If you think about it, your genes date back to the first human beings in existance, so chanses are pretty high that someone in your line did something cool. They will trace further back than the first humans too actually, if you just follow the line back you'll eventually find out you have a quite interesting dryopithecus related to you..

My great^6th uncle is Daniel Boone... I used to think it was cool until reading about all these relatives of Alexander the Great and Zoroaster :(

Geesh ... I sure as heck can't top that one :O

All my Bavarian and Celtic ancestors did was drink and screw around. I'm probably related to everybody on this forum in some way or another ;)
