Yes running/jogging and a good diet will help you lose fat.

2.do i have to do weight lifting to lose fat?

You dont have to weight train but it is very benificial if you do. With an increase in lean muscle mass becomes and increase in metabolic rate. You also look better once you have lost your fat. You will look muscular rather than skinny.

3.is diet really important? can't i only eat right? or is dat the same thing? lol

Diet is extremely important. A caloric deficit (search it) will help you lose weight. Make sure you get your calories from the right sources.

4.wats a good distance or how many mins should i jog for?

This is very dependant on your passion and desire plus your current fitness, fibre type etc etc. A good place to start it by setting a goal to increase your running every day or second day. It is really a matter of pushing yourself and making the effort. It doesnt matter what that is in distance or time.

You should have a good read of the stickies and read up on full body workouts/

This is what you want to do without a doubt. Feel free to double the weeks if you need to and progress as slow as you need.

Check out the weight loss forum and search for the thread related to this. There are great people over there that are just starting off just like you.
