What can I do about my hips?

I hate my hips. They go out and in and out again. Is there anything i can do to get rid of the dent in the middle?
Here are some pictures in case you don't know what I'm talking about.

You look to just have wide hips. Another alternative to making your hips smaller (which you can't really do thanks to the bone), is making your legs/glutes a little larger (muscle) to throw off the ratio.

hey!i don't think u have to work hard on ya legs(the pic with that girl- it's not your situation, she's got some other tipe of body)... well i don't thin it's the main problem, but one of those u've got- but never the less- 1st of all try to wear some other kind of underwear(that strings make that part of your hips that u don't like even more visible than ever).... and then just start thinking of some i'd rathe say loosing weihgt and shape on your hips(1 thing u won't get rid of- is that bone, so u have to make it so to say the best part)

I don't agree with any of that. If you increase muscle mass around the hip and legs, you will see tightness. The other alternative to reduce the appearance of strange folds is to reduce body fat. But then you'll just have your hip bones sticking out and that doesn't look close to as hot as if you would squat and deadlift.

you are not in the medical profession are you - LOL?

:newangel: You are OBVIOUSLY not in the medical profession and undoubtedly are under 30.(probably under 25...)
You had someone crawl down on the floor to take a picture of you from the most unflattering angle possible- why would you choose to do that?
Let me guess... you WANTED the most unattractive picture possible- you didnt even suck-in-ur-tummy.
This is sort of what people do when they want to get a "BEFORE" pic and then when whatever program is over, they stand 3/4 to the camera, stand tall and suck it all up.
Have you seen the Nutrisystem adds with Jillian Barberi saying she has lost 40+ pounds with nutrisystem? The "before" picture is her in a blah tent dress with skinny arms and face, poking out. "The after" photo is her in a bikini- looking exactly like she does as the Weather Girl on TV locally...and for the past 12+ years.
Your body type is common and 30 years from now you would be willing to cut off your hand to get it back.
So genetically you have a curvy body. Thats quite a plus, although you have done the common gurrl thing of picking out one place you HATE and focusing on what you hate or think is abnormal - and ignoring all the lovely parts, I am willing to bet.
How is it in your best interest to work up a "hatred" for your lovely body that walks and talks and wiggles and dances??

If you truly want to be the BEST YOU possible and want to work on exercises that target certain areas...go get the book "Strength Training Anatomy" by Frederic Delavier. (the same author has published "Women's Strength Training Anatomy") However, the womens book only has exercises for abs/back/legs/buttocks. The illustrations in the books are awesome and correct. You can probably get them from your library... but buying them is an investment as far as I am concerned.

If you work out properly for a year and still hate your fat pads in your upper thighs, there is plastic surgery and liposuction.
Or you could tattoo in small letters on each thigh.."if you can read this, you are too close."

Have you considered that who you compare yourself to makes a big difference in how you see yourself? Compare yourself to a gorgeous person who gets paid to be perfect AND is photoshopped ON TOP OF THAT!! Its like that Cindy Crawford quote where she says that when she gets out of bed and glances in the mirror, even SHE doesnt look like Cindy Crawford...LOL

If you compare yourself to a quadriplegic getting pushed around DisneyWorld , belted into their wheelchairs because they are incapable of even SITTING UP.... even if they were the prettiest 18 year old around, you would think OHMAHGAWWWWD .... I couldnt live like that!

Watch your food intake (food being fuel), commit to a strength training program (free weights are better than machines, but machines are better than NOTHING) A place like the machines-in-a-circle for women only, are a waste of money unless someone weighed over 300 pounds and was scared to death to be laughed at. (and no- people at gyms dont ever laugh & point.... in fact, the worse you are, the more the gym rats feel "Hey! She is in the RIGHT PLACE.... good for her"

And apart from that .... "dieting to lose weight" and "eating a diet to gain muscle" are usually quite different things. Muscle is what makes people handsome or beautiful - with all the right curves. Starving while TRYING to BUILD MUSCLE is the craziest of all worlds.

I think you need to make the waist/stomach area smaller. Your actual hips looked fine, but your sides of stomach are what I think you're referring to.
