Increasing PM Text Limit

Increasing the 1000 charactor limit on PM's. To something like 2,000 or so.

Or an increase that is mutually agreeable.

Best wishes

Chillen

yeah, I'll second that! :)

me too. In the PM window it gets small really fast when trying to answer a new person's questions. or even interact with a string of convo at all.

It's all about convenience....

Why not just send in two parts. Or if your really that worried about it get the persons email. Its not that hard guys.

having the ability to PM is just more convenience and keeps you here, instead of having to go to your email, and then back here... back and forth to talk to others about relative things that may have no place on a thread.

I have had days when I was PM'ing people inbetween posting and it was great to be able to be able to go thru posts, then see that there was a PM and I could respond to relatively fast.

If it isn't that hard to do, it isn't that much to ask, this is the feedback section that asks for suggestions.....

However, I think people should be a bit more polite *cough* *cough* about it since it is only a suggestion, not a demand......:D

cheers,
Diane

I think people should talk about stuff on the forum boards. There is a reason posts are public, it's so other people can learn. If someone are having a private conversation about something other than training, then I don't see the problem in bringing it to msn or email.

I do agree that it can be a bit short. I've often had to send a PM in two parts and it is a bit annoying. But if making the limit longer means more people will use PM instead of the forum, then I don't like it.

Exactly the reason for it. If it ever is increased, it will only be slightly. Thank you for the suggestion.

Mreik,

I think you and Karky are missing the benefit of increasing the text limit on the PM. The discussions that would happen in a PM, would not necessarily be meant for a post but would still be appropriate among members who feel they have become more friendly with some than with others.

Again, taking it to email somewhere else is taking those same people away from the forum; when they could be here helping others while they are PM'ing.

If you really think that increasing the limit, will decrease posts, then this forum is already failing. However I don't think that is truly the case. You won't force people to use the forum by trying to limit them in other ways. Anything that can be said, will be said on the forum regardless if their is PM'ing or not.

Limiting PM'ing is simply stopping people from sharing a little more of themselves with others.

When I have spoken with people in PM's I say things that I would NEVER say on the forum. I don't see why it should be necessary that I should have to take it to email either. If it got to that, then I would simply stop.

Just means me spending less time and being less active on the forum because of limitations imposed on me.

Making a forum a place to enjoy and participate in is part of the appeal of this type of community. If you want the place to grow, and draw active members, it helps when there are features that make it easier for them to do everything here, instead of pushing them elsewhere.

simply food for thought......

cheers,
Diane

you can open two tabs, one for mail and one for the forum and help out others while you are typing your email.
