Diet Coke as a Treat

Good / Bad / Neutral for losing weight?

0 Cals, 0 Carbs, 0 Fat, 2.5% daily recommended sodium

Yes, I drink lots of water but is a diet soda different?

Pepsi max

I always drink a litre of Pepsi max a day, i never had a problem losing weight when i'm on a diet

It's a good question.....

From what I gather, all the artificial sweetners, flavorings, additives, preservatives and the ph-affect on your body are bad for you. So from a health perspective, it's not a good thing.

BUT from a caloric standpoint, I don't see how something that has 0 calories can adversely affect one's weight-loss program. I've heard some people say it "bloats" you....but the gas just gets burped-out over time.

I dunno, it falls somewhere betwen "drink away" to "it's poison".....

As a treat it's great. As a drink it's crap. Use it to reward, not as a normal source of hydration.

I just dont put any soda/pop into me. Fair enough it has a nice taste but it just feels like sh1t to me. Water and milk all day every day for me.

Apart from the odd dilute still drink ;)

Now, BigTom, I love ya.....you know this...

but, you will not drink soda pop, but drink until you get drunk on the weekends, and then spend the next couple of days recovering (or your body detoxifying its blood), and feel like crap

Chillen

Why is it a treat?

Personally, I think rewarding yourself with foods/drinks is a bad concept to go through. I recommend drinking the soda when you feel it is required. Otherwise, don't reward yourself. If you must reward yourself, do so by buying new clothes, or perhaps going someplace or a night at the movies. Etc, etc. Don't reward yourself with a food/drink as it will lead to the path of self-hate and doubt.

But with my surroundings, at my age, drinking will not be stopping at this stage in my life.

When im your age im sure i will drink much less than i do now. In a few years time infact..

Diet or sugarfree anything usually means its loaded with aspartame.

many studies show that aspartame can cause very bad effects, but from a weight loss point of view the most significant and indisputable fact may be that it makes you more hungry, thus bad.

but what ever floats your boat.

It's a treat if you like it.. and I'm not sure where self-hate works into a diet soda?

Define "treat?" I suppose if you mean every once in a while, then that is fine. However, if you're using it as a reward factor for good "diet" or "exercise" behavior, then it is an incorrect way to go. Reward yourself with other things; not with food and drinks (even if the food/drink is "0" calories).
