Couple of very random questions :)

There is an even more controversial idea that African-Americans in particular excel in sports because of selective breeding during slavery.

It's true that selective breeding can bring on drastic, quick results but they should have begun to disappear nearly as quickly once that time period ended and people could produce offspring with whomever they wanted.

exactly what i said 3 posts above.

Yeah, Europe was very different from Africa, even centuries ago. Because of animals like oxen to plow fields, it became possible for Europeans to develop as an agricultrual society while in Africa people were still hunter-gatherers. Africa did not have animals suitable for domestication, at least not to the extent that was present in Europe.

the op asked about fast twitch fibres and sprinters, most africans are distance runners so would have more slow twitch, amercans and west indians are the dominant sprinters, who both come from slave backgrounds,so genetic breeding is more likely to be the reason, not the colour of your skin or the country you are from.

no not really, even though slavery was abolished a long time ago,the black comunities in these countries where still sepperated from the whites untill not so long ago,so there selective inbreeding of genes would still be dominant.

Nah i jsut dont believe in genetic breeding. I think its a natural way that blacks are. We can do nothing about it...

I think its true about them having a longer pen1s length on average aswell lol

had to say it.

so how do you acount for the fact they make the best distance runners if they have more fast twitch fibres.

God, it feels terrible to talk about people like this, but...

Selective breeding takes constant upkeeping. No matter how long a "breed" has been established there will always be offspring born with undesirable traits and without the desirable traits. In that case they are not allowed to breed while the desirables are. If this doesn't happen, the desirable traits will eventually become watered down.

I'm a dog person and I have Dobermans. The breed is relatively new by dog breeding standards , but still has been around 100 years. There are still Dobermans born too shy or too aggressive, or not the right angles, size etc. and these are generally spayed/neutered so they can't pass on their genes while the ones who meet the breed standard are actively bred.

That's why it takes a lot of knowledge to be a reputable breeder and some hilljack with two AKC dogs shouldn't start churning out litters

i used to breed staffs, and i agree with the above but,as far as olympic sprinting is concerned out of a very good gene pool (american/west indian) only the best would be picked and shine.
