Do you work out at night?

Does anyone here weight lift at night or do cardio before bed? Does it affect your sleeping or do you get hungry?

My kids are home for the break and I always find during these periods, it is difficult to work out when they are home. I was thinking of doing my work outs at night after they go to bed.

I usually do them first thing in the morning after I send them off to school, but I am not getting the time with them here.

What do you think? any advice?

I'll workout before going to bed if that's what my schedule forces me to do, but yes, it can keep me awake sometimes. I usually try and give myself at least an hour between working out and heading to bed to let my body calm down a bit.

But so long as I give myself time to cool down, and with the help of cool down stretching and a good warm shower, I've had some of my better night's sleep when I've worked out before going to bed.

That's what I was wondering. It will only be while the kids are home, then I will start back in the mornings. Just wondering if all this changing around is going to mess me up.....

Plus this means I will have to stay up an extra hour and shower after I am usually up....

Sorry to let you down, but I didn't.. I was flippin a tire too, so it was very possible!

well the weight lifting was a bust *sigh*

I tried to do my workout last night, and I managed to squeak out 1 hr of cardio (incline intervals) but couldn't manage the weights.

I started with weights too, but I could tell my form sucked because I was tired. (I didn't get started till 9pm and I am up at 5:30am) Thankfully my DH stopped by (he was working) to encourage me cause he knew I really wanted to get my workout in last night and I did my cardio.

I actually kept the kids up for a while hoping that they would sleep in this morning (that didn't happen) and I'd get some rest. *sigh*

So I was in bed by 11pm, and this morning I'm tired, and I still have my weight lifting to do today :(.

Any suggestions?

I really want to be able to workout while the kids are home, but I haven't figured out a way yet. My DH works swings so he sleeps during the day (though he will get up and watch the kids for me sometimes while I workout), the kids can't be left unattended- they have specials needs so it is impossible to leave them to their own devices.

Any ideas???

yes I do work out and run and bike and swim at night. It fits there. I also think there is some value in seeing the "blue lights" on in the houses as I go by.

there is also benefit for me, and my lady, to have that testosterone all pumped up at the end of the night.

I also think there is some benefit, for the endurance element, to pushing yourself to go that extra mile, after a day has been done.

BUT- I will also add, that I am much stronger anbd faster in the morning. But for training, I prefer the evenings,.

I have tried mornings but being more of a night owl I find working out in the evening works best for me. I tend to have more energy at night after fueling throughout the day.

p.s. I just read your post. I am in bed by 9:30. Getting started at 9:pm, may be a lil extreme.

yeah, I was shooting for 8pm and in bed by 9:30pm but that didn't happen....

The cardio is easier to do than the weights, so at least I managed to do that, but I am a morning person when it comes to working out.....

I stopped because I didn't want to injure myself.

I actually enjoyed the cardio at night, but I couldn't do my weights at night, not that late anyway....takes more concentration than cardio...
