Im a boy and im 5ft 10 and abit the nurse said Im 16 years old nearly 17:D Diabeties just means i cnt eat so much sugar so all this low fat foods that are around you find alot of sugar in meaning I cannot really have these much :( Im eatin more vegtables and have 2 or 3 snacks through out the day which im tryin to get more fruit in :)

It's a huge misconception that lifting heavy weights will all of a sudden turn you into the Hulk, it just doesn't work that way. After doing my first official bulk period, I learned to appreciate the huge amount of time and hard work that go into putting on muscle.

Anyways, do you have your diet really nailed down? What are you eating in a given day? And what do ya do in the gym?

Well for the gym I warm up on the bike for 15 mins. Its hard to say weights I do but I do 20 off the easy ones and then work up so I push it at 20 then I use 12KG dumbells and do reps till I cant do anymore but as I want to tone my arms up I use 9KG dumbells and do more :) I also fit about 80 stomache crunches in also each session I go.There is also a machine where you put youe elbow at 90 degrees and push your arms together. I do about 40 reps each time on them at about 40 pounds.

I stay at the gym for about an 1 hour maybe 1 hour 30 mins for the 3 times a week I go. I also do alot of cycling in between.

Its hard to say what I eat but for breakfast its 2 pieces of toast and a bowl off cereal. Dinner is usually beans on toast or something cereal and dinner at night is usually my meat with 2 or 3 vegtables and a potato kind of thing with them.

Snacks after college are french toasts/rivitas and maybe a banana. and ile have a banana in the morning and some toast before bed but only 2 pieces.

Type one diabetes mellitus means that the person has to inject insulin in order to keep blood sugar in the safe range. This typically requires careful planning of meals (particularly with respect to carbohydrate content), insulin injections, and exercise.

In persons without diabetes, the pancreas automatically produces the correct amount of insulin for any occasion, but persons with type one diabetes mellitus do not make any insulin at all. In the absence of insulin, blood sugar can get dangerously high. Even when there are not short term symptoms, blood sugar can be high enough to cause long term damage.

yup very true. One thing people to get confused is they think type 2 is not as bad but really its harder to controller as there body wont even react to the injections so they have to go on 100% diet to keep the sugar level right. Also if I was to want to build alot of muscle it would be hard as I have to have my carbs :S

Seems like your diet is mostly carbohydrates. Seems odd that a type one diabetic (as you said you are in your first post) would choose a lot of high glycemic carbohydrates like toast, cereal, and potatoes that may be more difficult to control than low glycemic carbohydrates.

Kk. Well at the moment im going to try to cut down on carbs. But im not to sure what to eat when it comes to low carbs/low sugar and low fat. lol :S

may help you find slower digesting (low glycemic) carbohydrates. Have your doctors told you about choosing such carbohydrates in order to maintain better blood sugar control with your diabetes?

Don't be too afraid of fat in your diet, if it is good fat (mainly mono-unsaturated fat and oils from fish and some vegetable sources that provide omega-3 polyunsaturated fats that most people in industrialized countries are short of; avoid hydrogenated oils with trans-fat) and it is within your calorie limits. Fat (or fiber or protein) in combination with carbohydrate may slow the digestion of the carbohydrate, lowering its glycemic index.

You need to discuss this with your nurse, parents, nutritionists, other professionals. Type I diabetes is the hand you were dealt with. You can live with it and do fine but you have to plan your meals carefully. My major professor had type I diabetes and I saw him recently on his 74th birthday and he still looks great, albeit a bit thin, but he always was because he exercised vigilantly and watched his diet carefully. There is a lesson to be learned there for you.

Ok matey. Thanks for the adivce. At the moment im just trying to get more protein and vitamins and fruit and vegtable in my diet and cut out chocolate but im told week or one night our off the week when your dieting is allowed to be a treat night :p
