lats

You want to make sure your arms end up full extended tho, to stretch your lats. Keeping it under stress and not letting them 'hang' will prob work your arms more than your lats.

If fully extending them would end up working my arms more then my lats then why would i wanna do it?

No youve got it wrong...i said....

Not letting your arms hang (as you do) will work the lats less.

You need to stretch the lats fully, then contract them as much as possible to work them best.

Pull-ups, Pull-ups, Pull-ups. By many it's considered one of the best exercises for developing wide lats.
If you can only do one rep that's okay, many people can't do half a rep. Have a spotter to help you out, meaning to push you upwards, you'll be able to squeeze 3,4 more reps and the spotter will get a good workout too :).

For lats try this push up variation:

dude you pimp that site of yours all over the place
and those pushups won't really work the lats as a prime mover

Lat pull-down:

Some some quick ideas for the brotha! :)

I believe most of these are the Front Lat pull downs. This should give you a "general" idea.

Smith you ROCK! :)

You are welcome, He, he, :)

Thanks chillen :)

This is a exact replica of how i do and what ive been told good form on lat pull downs is.

Hmmm thats different to how i do them, i fully extend my arms as iv been told to do that.
Look on you tube and theres many which show them extending their arms fully.

Maybe you can do it both ways, but iv had it drilled into me that you need to stretch and compress the lats as much as possible :)

I never got the whole time under tension concept, and anyways, that guy isn't doing going all the way down either, and he can extend his arms a lot more before he locks his elbows.

So what you saying kark, do you think the way he was doing them is correct?

not 100% as I said I would go further up and further down to get more range of motion. But it wasn't very bad.
Though I'm not expert on lat pulldowns :p

Negatives work really well with pull-ups. You could get into the top position of the pullup and hold it as long as you can and slowly lower yourself down.
