squat rack

my dad is gonna get me a squat rack for xmas... he said he is gonna get it online and wants me to pick it out. Can someone point me to somewhere to get the best one i possibly can get for the cheepest? shipping low too. thanks.

If at all possible, what you really want is a power rack:

I don't know where you live but you might be able to find a local company that can make you one and save you shipping charges, or get some plans and have a local machine shop make you one. I had one made by a local guy I found in the phone book and got it for about half the price advertised by the name brand places and saved the shipping cost.

Not in my experience

A lot of people buy exercise equipment and never use it
I got my bench for $40 and the paint inside the racks wasn't even scratched yet

These are good racks, they are very strong and will last forever. Good if you are short on space at home as well.

Oh. If you get a power rack, don't get one of those 2" X 2" things. They are not worth it.

550 bucks Georgen, yea right. I am currently lookin for a bench press/squat rack more preferrably a bench press. Went on craigs list and the cheap ones i found were in crap condition and looked like they were about to break down...

You have to lurk for a while, you can't expect a good deal to be there every time you look. It can really be worth it

It is not that much for a decent rack. Whatever you do. Do not buy crap. You will regret it. You are better off joining a gym.

Agreed. It's an investment, especially if you're really going to use it. My ex bought me a rack about 6 years ago and it still works perfect with no flex. She also bought herself a rack that didn't flex much, but that's a diff story :rofl:
