Heya

Do you think this recipe would work for protein bars, i just made it up:

2 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup sesame seeds
30g almond nut butter
2 eggs
1 banana
4 scoops of whey powder
1/4 cup almonds

i worked out if i split them into 8 bars, each bar will be 240 calories

Probably some kind of liquid ingredient. I make granola bars using sugar free syrup.

I used to make my own years ago with protein powder (soy.. would now use whey)... peanuts... chopped apricots.

Put in food processor and blend until a big mass. Then roll into serving size. Wrap with wax paper and put in fridge. I made mine so they were 100 cal. Later I added some fructose powder as it is easier to mix than the dried fruit.

Dates would be a good choice as they are real sticky.. just add some water to be able to mix after chopping up in food processor. mix with the nuts and protein powder then cool for a while to make it thick enough to spoon and roll.

No baking.

One day I tried plain yogurt, mixed frozen berries, banana, flax seed, and whey protein. I thought I was going to get a fruity yogurt like what you'll find at the store. I was super pissed when I mixed it and got something like a smoothie (liquid drink). I tried it out, and ever since, I use it over and over again because it tastes so good.

Give it a shot. If you like it, then do it again, if you don't, then throw it away. Bake it, freeze it, put it in the microwaver, it's up to you. That's why they created a garbage can, so you can throw out junk you don't need or failed stuff from the kitchen. If you don't like throwing it away, bring it to your friends (or people you don't like) and call it a health snack and watch it disappear.

I didn't bake them because there was no need. Ever eat cookie dough raw? Has the same consistency, depending on what is put into them. I once tried to bake some and the result was terrible. It's too hard to try to make something that is bakeable (i.e. will rise or remain edible) and still control the macro nutrients.

Now that Zone Perfect bars are carried at Walmart and Target I just buy them as they taste a lot better and are more convenient.
