Lift, Train, Fitness

just finished logging my food while my evening meal is cooking.

High on carbs (but would still be considered low carb for most people)
Low on total protein but amino composition looks ok
low on total calories but will snack on some nuts later.

vitamins and minerals - low on vit C, low sodium (250 mg) but above the absolute minimum sodium needed by the body (186 mg).

:grouphug: Studying while you´re feeling crappy is hard.

I'm so sorry you have been feeling so crappy. I do hope you start feeling better soon. Is there a break in sight?

Just finished spending time at the park after my Doc appointment.

Doc went through my last lot of regular bloods from end of July, and most of it was normal, cholesterol, A1C, liver function, thyroid etc. but D was low and there was low level infection markers. He has ordered more bloodwork. He thinks my continually re-occurring sore throat is chronic tonsillitis as they are currently swollen and painful. he suspects the chronic nature of the infection could be a cause of the fatigue, I will be on antibiotics this week and need to track how it affects both the infection and the fatigue to rule it in or out as the cause of the fatigue.

still feeling crap however

I am semi confident the anatomy exam resit went well redeeming myself up to a pass mark.
Had blood taken for the fresh round of tests
started the antibiotics
got a firm date for the 2 day hike/sea kayak practical next month, catchup from outdoor ed last semester (covid delay) so marks can be released, pretty sure I passed ok, but the prac is a course requirement.

next week is the second sport psychology assesment

I really hope the antibiotics start working quickly & you start to feel better soon. I'm amazed at your resilience.

so do I.

I think it says it all in my sig, indomitable will, never give, giving up doesn't help me and it won't help my family, all I can do is push through doing what I can when I can.

At the moment I don't even have the energy to tidy up my flash cards scattered around my desk after the exam this morning.

increased meletonin dose last night, I am more mentally alert this morning, still physically exhausted upon waking.

At least you're seeing some change. That ought to mean you and your doctor are on the right track, even if it takes insufferably long :grouphug:

another long day, food intake ok

lymph node in neck still painful, but tonsils feel less painful

grinding through the study despite fatigue, but no relief tonight from keeping little miss happy as D has been called out to a fire

fire-reduced.jpg

This seems very early in the season. :( But maybe it's different in the north?
Anyway - hello, after a while away, and best wishes to you, for lymph nodes and study, and keeping little miss happy - and most of all for a safe night for the firefighter!

But maybe it's different in the north?

The fire season starts earlier up here, officially starting at the beginning of September, there are currently 16 crews at this fire. It has been worse further north, the NT is well into their fire season.

Oh, god Tru! Already? G & I keep clearing more & more for fire breaks. Soon it will be too late for it.

neck deep in sport and exercise psychology study today in prep for exam on Friday, going through the intricacies of catastrophe theory .

no change to fatigue levels, but I can only blame myself for skipping part of my warmup before lifting today, the hamstrings of both legs cramped during my first set of bench press.

I think I am about done in for the study tonight, after reviewing goal setting and looking at outcome goals, performance goals and process goals and their function in motivation.

Goal Setting

most people are familiar with setting SMART goals but this goes a little deeper

Goals help to narrow attention, mobilise effort, encourage persistence, increase self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation, improve current skills.

Types of goals

Outcome focused - outcome is often not under complete control of the individual. eg. winning a weight loss contest in 6 months time.

Performance focused - targeted on the end result of performance. eg. loose 10 kg in the next 6 months

Process focused - targeting an individual process that will help to reach a performance goal. eg. I will only drink water for the next 6 months.

Achieving goals and improving skill mastery improves intrinsic motivation

Make sure goals are internalized – It is important that you feel in control (self-determined) of the goals. Ensuring that you accept and internalize goals is one of the most important features of goal setting.

eg. If another person sets your goal for you, without your input or ability to internalise the goal, you will be less likely to adhere to the process needed to achieve the goal.
