Alligatorob's Diary

That´s an incredible difference my friend. And whether or not you´re proud of your old pics you still look like a kind, decent person in them. And your granddaughter (I assume?) is adorable.

:iagree: with LaMa. It is an incredible difference, Rob and your kind nature definitely shines through in all of your photos. Your adorable granddaughter must be proud of you xo

So true what both LaMa and Cate mention about you actually looking great in all the photos in that your kindness is seen in all. It must feel good to see and feel that real difference though in just all the activity you can do now--so great.
Are you at the point of looking to maintain now?

Rob you are half the man you were and I only mean in size . A huge congratulations to you and I agree with the others how good and kind and supportive you are . You deserve all good things

Rob, those absolutely count as before and after photos. You look really thin now. You must be in a healthy BMI range now surely?

It was a good day, I ate well, exercised and feel good tonight. My exercise was mostly 3 hours of hand mowing the lawn, it was exhausting. I leave for my fishing trip visits to Florida in the morning. While away I will have more limited control over my food and exercise possibilities, and may not be able to log in everyday. I will do my best.

Thanks LaMa, but it is a niece, not the granddaugher.

Thanks Cate, I hope my nature is at least partly as kind as y'all say it is.

I am not sure, but I am close. I am still in the BMI overweight range, and I know I still have some fat to lose, but not a whole lot. I will reevaluate with I return from the trip and see.
Rob you are half the man you were
Thanks Petal, I like it put that way. I still have 14 lbs to go to be at exactly half my starting weight, but I am getting close.
you're better than me in saving old photos.
some past body profiles i'd rather forget.
No, to tell the truth I had to ask others to find anything like a before picture. I had no profiles I wanted to keep.
Rob that shark story is cool. Even cooler - 174 lbs what the heck? You going to weigh less than me in a couple of weeks.
Thanks Jack, and the shark adventure was cool, one on my favorite childhood memories. Monday I will be fishing with the friend who was with me that night, bigger nicer boat and we will probably catch more edible fish, but it will not be anything like the shark adventure.

Thanks Emily, but I am not yet to the "healthy" BMI, but getting closer. I know I look slim in the pictures, and by my standards I am, but I also know there is a bit of fat yet I would be better off without.

How wonderful that you're keeping up with childhood friends over all that time and distance.

I agree. It's wonderful. I have just read your amazing shark story to G & he was suitably gobsmacked.

i hope your "trip report" will include some details of your flying experience, too. i'm going to have to eventually fly back to NJ with my aunt's ashes later this year.

Flew to Florida today, did not have great access to food so I ate too little, probably less than 800 calories, tomorrow should be better. I did some walking but not a whole lot, not sure it was much exercise. However I am enjoying myself, I am staying in the town I grew up in and seeing how much has changed, but finding a bit familiar. I am glad to be here.
no all night shark fishing!
No, not this time. Night time is the best time to shark fish, they feed at night. But I have caught enough sharks, something unsatisfying about spending hours catching an inedible fish. And sharks are getting endangered.

It is good to see people you have known so long. Actually my shark fishing buddy was my best friend from age about 5 to 15, we then moved away and lost touch for a long time. He looked me up a few years ago and we reconnected. Our lives have gone very different ways, and he does not seem to be the kind of person my friends are (he probably thinks the same about me) but the old relationship seems to have rekindled and be enough to overcome differences.

I am sure it will be retold many times in the next couple of days.
Have a great trip Rob . Look forward to hearing all about it
Thanks Petal, I will do my best.

Flying was interesting I flew Delta from Salt Lake to Tampa with a plane change in Detroit. Not the best routing, but there are far fewer flights now so good connections are hard to fine. I felt pretty safe, lots of distancing and precautions. I wore a mask the whole time, you are required to wear a mask on the plane, no exceptions, but not in the airport. The airports were quite empty so distancing was easy, but most all the shops and food outlets were closed. The biggest thing on the plane is they leave lots of seats empty, you do not sit next to anyone the seat next to you is empty. The planes are boarding from the back to the front, and there is little food or drink available, just a few snacks and bottled water. Hand sanitizer is everywhere. One of the pilots took the time to explain the air handling system and he claimed the cabin air is the safest indoor air anywhere. So like I said I was not uncomfortable. If more people start to fly it may change, perhaps for the worst.

Sounds like flying is back to being an exclusive hobby again. You´re a jetsetter now! Was it twice as expensive as normal as well to cover costs or are they trying to get us to travel normally?

THanks for the low down on the flight Rob. It certainly sounds like you had plenty of room .shame about the lack of food though. Remember to pack some snacks when travelling back with you .

Thanks for the update, Rob. The airlines must be bleeding money. Surely they will have to start charging twice as much just to cover their costs. I agree with 101- adjusting to the "new normal" will take a lot of getting used to.

The past 2 days were good, I think I was mostly on track with food and exercise.

Sunday I ate very little until getting to my friend's house for dinner where we had some fresh fish lightly fried a little red beans and rice and a lot of salad, probably no more than 1,200 calories on the day. I got in a couple of walks, about 9 km total.

Yesterday was a long fishing day up at 2 am and not home until after 9 pm. I ate more but think I had about 1,400 calories, not too bad. Exercise was all in the fishing. I am not as strong a fisherman as I was a few years ago, it was deep (50 to 60 m) bottom fishing and had to bring up a lot of big fish, I got tired faster than I expected and faster than others. Maybe I am just out of practice, or maybe I have lost some muscle with the weight, don't know. I feel fine today. We brought home about 100 kg of fish (before cleaning) and caught a lot more, so it was a good day.

That´s some gorgeous fish!

Very likely both. Plus you didn´t have at much fuel in the tank as the others did if you only ate 1200 kcal the day before.
