Hi all. I'm currently a month into a 500 calorie diet (having previously totally failed a total fasting diet! I had to give it a try ok, its not for me! :) ).
So basically I eat 'normal' most days, no more than my man-ly 2500 calories however they come.
Try not to eat after 9pm (I stay up real late).
Try not to eat sweet treat at all where I can.
Beer not allowed more than 1 or 2 days a week.....hey life has to be fun right?
1 or 2 days a week, I stick to an approx 500 calorie diet.

A month in, when its gone well its gone well, when it hasn't it hasn't! lol Damd Xmas!
anyway I've been keeping a video diary which I thought I'd share if thats ok? this is the most writing Ive done in ages! LOL
I'm going to be editing the 500 calorie one this weekend and will post first....as its a positive experience, I'll link to the total fasting failure too if anyone is bothered about that too, where I'm a total misery! ha ha

How long do you plan to stick with the 500 calorie a day diet? How much weight have you lost?

I don't know about posting videos, the moderators have to be pretty careful about spam, but if your are not selling something there may be a way. Hopefully a moderator will chime in. I'd like to see it.

Absolutely, that's my approach too, I have cut way back on alcohol, but not eliminated it.

Tell us more about yourself and your goals, your age, height, weight, goals, etc. It will help people better understand who you are and what you're doing. Then folks can comment more intelligently.

I am looking forward to reading more about you and your progress!

It depends on the situation, videos should not be monetised and they should not be part of every post, remember that the forum is not a place for you to promote your own sites or blogs to gain an audience, a following, or a fan club. Personally I will let them stay if the videos are only posted occasionally.
 
Hi, I guess the vid may help me gain an audience but with only 40 subscribers and most of them VW nutters for my car vids I dont see a future in Diet Blogs! (You need 1000 to monetize! lol). Its just bit of a fill in between other car vids and some scrap art projects I'm doing and stuff. :)
I'm 42. 6' 2.5'' the half is important ok cos I think Im shrinking ha ha ha!!!! Kinda complicated but explained in the vid as week 2 and 3 are bad but aiming to go from 17st1lb down to 15 or possibly less and want to do it by March I havent been less then 16st in decades. Ive run through my diet in the vid and it changes at the end tbh as found soup alone is just poo so have integrated other stuff, but finding it quite easy now after getting into a good routine. :)

Hey Big Al, I enjoyed the video, particularly the help you were getting from your boys. The sausage scene was funny. Maybe your on to something using homemade videos to update the diary.

Losing 2 st by March 1 is a pretty aggressive goal, but I wish you luck!

Tx dude. I dont like to mess around LOL. Never managed such a low target since my 20s but if the 500 calorie losses continue should be acievable. I suspect its not going to be as easy as it feels atm but I guess time will tell :)
 
Loved your video! Great fun - and I like the cheapskate diet, too, which is not all that far from the way I diet. The packet soups are great - especially when you want something hot and don't want a sausage! And carrots! :hurray: They've been a great standby for me in the past - I don't count calories, but I like to just grab a carrot when I feel like munching something.
True, that you wouldn't want four packets of soup a day.
I won't lumber in with "advice" because it sounds like you've got things really well sorted, and are off to a flying start - not for a long-term diet, of course, but to get a good head-start, before you settle into a more sustainable balanced one. Good for you! Great about the four pounds down, and Go, Big Al!
 
I followed something similar to what you're doing a few years ago & did well on it. I might try it again. It was called 5:2. The 2 days of only 500 cals are tough for a while, but it gets easier.
Well done on 4 lbs down :)
 
What is in your 500 calories? Not a lot of the stuff I see in your video I assume. It would not take a lot of the Toblerone or sausages to add up to 500 calories.

All the stuff in the last week of the vid :)
2 soup
4 crackerbreads
2 eggs
2 carrots
additional: celery, diet pop

tbh I was kinda shocked that all this added upto 500 calories so I had to double check....and still doubted myself so checked again before publishing the video! LOL. Only thing I kinda cheat on is semi skimmed milk in my cups of coffe/tea in the day. I have it pretty dark but I guess there is a small calorie gain there.
 
In terms of 'long term', I plan to do it or some variant of it upto March so will prolly do a couple more vids and then think what to do next. Its all kinda for fun and experiment, if it didnt entertain me in some way I doubt I'd stick to it :)
