Milestones (Amy's diary)

I like the idea on being kind to ourselves! I try to follow that by doing something on a Friday that makes me smile, such as spending an extra 10 minutes getting ready in the morning (hi there massive earrings) so I feel like I'm starting the weekend looking nice.

You are very kind to the people on this forum, so just extend that kindness to yourself Amy and you will thrive!

Hello, everyone - thank you very much for the lots of good ideas about self-care and kindness to ourselves - and for the interesting input on TV shows - reality and "reality".
Petal - the cold is gone-but-not-quite-gone, which is annoying. I hope yours turns out to be better behaved. (I'm suddenly reminded of the neighbour who asked me about internet viruses - she said "Can you really catch things off the internet - like the flu?")
I haven't seen "Eat Yourself Sexy" nor yet "Naked and Afraid" - the latter sounds like the absolute worst kind of survive-the-jungle kind of show! "Eat Yourself Sexy" sounds good, but if it comes to unnecessary enemas... o_O !

Yes, there's plenty of people - on and off TV - who try to cash in on people's insecurities about their bodies - or insecurities in general, I guess. :( (Thanks for getting rid of those of that sort who come here, Tru and Cate!)

I caught about 2 minutes of "naked and afraid" once. It was so cringy I had to turn it off and I don´t normally have a problem with naked people. I guess it was them being so uncomfortable?

The first one I saw was about a couple in a Louisiana swamp, something I know a bit about. I thought it was kind of interesting, although a little unrealistic, the alligators are more a threat in peoples minds than in reality. And the Louisiana cougar they inferred was threatening is just a myth, cougars have been extinct in Louisiana for a long time.

Hey Amy - loving all the self-care ideas people have put on your diary. Being kind to yourself is the best gift you can give yourself. Have you seen any Naked Attraction? Now that is truly odd!

Amy my cold is not too bad . You know keyboards are covered in germs so maybe a computer bourne virus is a real thing !!!

...about a couple in a Louisiana swamp...
Wow! So it really is about surviving - and actually with no clothes on? Oh, we are living in strange times indeed! And (as LaMa has said):
Hello, Sunflower! Good to meet you! I'm loving the self-care ideas too - and I'll hasten to check out your diary to meet you some more!

:p ( Seriously - I'm glad it's "not too bad", but do rest up as much as you can!)

That's how a lot of people earn a living I guess. I watched a bit of teleshopping last night, I found myself being mesmerised by a robot that plays music and throws discs at you and also a baby drone, which actually looked pretty cool. I don't need any of these things, haha.

I was curious about what a "baby drone" might be, and looked on the internet, and found a drone with an overalls-wearing-pig attached! Yes, I think I can get along without it! :D

I was assuming it was Stork 2.0...
Well, I think I'll get along without that one, too!

Ah... teleshopping! and internet ads! I've been getting ads for some really nice footwear ever since we had the discussion about boots - some gorgeous, very colourful shoes and boots, which I'm not in the market for, but they keep bombarding me with anyway. And I've been getting a rather nasty ad about arthritis, which shows an apple being devoured by grubs (shudder!) and ones for holidays in all sorts of places, and most unlikely, offers to introduce me to Polish women. Good of the internet to be concerned about my social life!
I don't teleshop, though, nor over the internet - I do try to shop in bricks-and-mortar shops or markets, but it's getting harder - even big shopping centres won't have things in stock, half the time.

I'm getting the same boot ads! They're lovely, but not at all me. The internet gods don't try to introduce me to Polish women though, they're usually Russian or Asian. (And isn't it weird that it's just "Asian" instead of Vietnamese, Korean, Indonesian..?)
I dislike internet shopping too and only do it when I need something specific Vienna won't sell me in person. I want to see the cut in real life and touch the material before getting my hopes up.

I’m the same, I rarely internet shop. I understand the appeal and it can definitely work out cheaper, but for clothes at least, I have to try them on.

The ads I get are always related to things we talk about here . It’s so crazy really . Freaks me out a bit .

Mine - meaning the ads I get - seem a bit more random. Right now though, it's "Five foods you should never eat!" and "Keto guide shows where to start" which are both understandable, considering the site I'm on. :waving:

So... time for a check-in! This month I've not been trying to lose weight - partly for test-driving what maintenance might feel like, and partly to try to avoid loose skin, by giving my skin a chance to keep pace with my (slightly) shrinking body. As part of that anti-loose skin campaign, I've been trying to remember to moisturise my body generally, and I've been exercising (mildly) working a little with weights - if you can call three-pounds'worth "weights". And the results:
- maintaining was harder than expected, and I went up from my low of 176 to 178. Lesson learned - "maintaining" still needs to be pretty carefully monitored (ahem! possibly best to go easy on butter... and crackers... and chocolate caramels......)
- my skin is no looser than it was, though not visibly tighter. I do think the moisturising was a good idea, just generally.
- I think I am a centimeter smaller in the waist, though there's no change in my upper arms, which is where I most want change.

Going forward:
- I'm planning to resume the s-l-o-w weight loss, at least as far as getting to 175, which will make me just "overweight" and not "obese", clinically.
- When I hit that point, I'll reconsider where exactly I want to get to long-term.
- I'll up the exercise, incorporating some tips from Trusylver about core strength.
- I'll continue with the moisturising and general self-care. :) Kindness month coming up!
