Communicating is bloody hard when you are both sleep-deprived! :grouphug:
Babies are much harder work than anyone ever realises & it does put stress on any relationship.
I would love to say that parenting gets easier as they get older, but someone once told us that the bigger they get, the bigger the problems. He was right. You & yank are solid & you will sort things out as you go.

Thanks Cate - sure it will be fine. He's a good egg, really, we are both just tired and my job is just as important (if not more so!) than his. I'm not having a jolly at home all day! I've heard boys are easier teenagers.......I doubt that!

Well sumflower my boy was a dream teen but I think I got lucky . The girl is much harder . But great in her own way. Love the look of that spa I think I might have to try and wrangle a trip there sometime . Try get a sleep today when L is asleep .
Love the stories here about the Mormons . I’m fascinated with different religions .

My father in law/brother-in law are Scientologists...we are an eclectic family!! Haha
I see massive Scientology headquarters in every capital I visit and always wonder why they need so much space when I never meet a Scientologist. Now I know: it´s all your in-laws!

We met online in 2008 and he moved to England to be with me but we occasionally visit his mother who was in Arizona and now is in Austin and his dad who lives in Idaho still.
That sounds like an interesting story, you met your husband online and he moved from the US to England to be with you!

Yes you are, I have never known a Scientologist personally, have you seen the CNN documentary "Going Clear", it won't leave you with a very good impression of Scientology (Amazon.com: Watch Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief - The HBO Special | Prime Video ). I mostly grew up in Dunedin, Florida, our house was about 2 miles from the current location of Scientology's world headquarters. They have pretty much taken over and bought up a lot of the real estate in the area, that all happened long after I left. The old friends we still have from the area don't have much good to say about the Scientologists. How do you get along with your Scientologists in the family?

Congrats on the 3 lb loss, that's a great start!

I met this lovely fella on a work trip recently, and he honestly seemed like the calmest, nicest man you would ever meet. His wife had a baby about 6 months previously, and he told the group that before having the child, he'd never had an argument with her. But then he went on to explain that not long after the baby had arrived, one evening he noticed his wife speaking to him in a tone of voice that he had never heard before! It's the sleep deprivation and the energy required and the concern over the child that brings it all out. Anyway, thought that story might help. :) You're doing great.

Sleep deprivation is the worst. Of course it will get better - but it's the present that's the problem. Hope the present turns into the calmer full-night's-sleep future soon.

Sunflower hope you had a good nights sleep last night . Trust me it gets better with time . Try sleep when he does during the day .

Right, food for the last two days has been 1850 and 1550 yesterday. Not amazing as I've eaten quite a bit of junk in those calories!

Thanks for the support RE: sleep deprivation! He's had a couple of better nights so feeling human again..

Rob - I have seen that documentary, I actually discussed it with the in-laws when they were in the UK a few weeks back. It all got a bit heated so we do make an effort to not discuss it with them. I think it is indoctrinating nonsense that takes advantage of vulnerable people. My brother-in-law joined after he was arrested for a DUI and then moved to Florida and stayed with a high up member there for a while. He sinks thousands and thousands of dollars into "self-improvement" each year.. Each to their own I suppose.

I finally spoke to work about my hours for January have compromised with some working at home days and flexible hours so I'm very happy. Snuggling my boy a little closer today. Will be strange to be back in working life again..

We are off for a family holiday to Estonia in December so that'll be a great chance to relax and enjoy time all together before I go back,

That sounds interesting, I've never been to Estonia, what does one do in Estonia in winter?

I agree with you on Scientology, but living in Utah has made me more tolerant of the beliefs of others. I don't know your brother in law, but maybe it gives him some sense of purpose, and it may be better than alcoholism.

1,550 to 1,850 calories isn't bad, reducing the junk food would be good. I think all of eat some junk food, its hard not too, its the frequency and portion that's important.

I'm hoping for snow, log fires and cheap drinks! We have an Airbnb so imagine we will read books, snuggle under blankets and check out the Christmas Market. We are staying in Tallinn, think there are museums etc to look around too. Hoping we will do a trip to Helsinki from Tallinn too. Do you go away often? I'd love to come back to the States more often, we are going to try to get to Chicago for a Cubs Game next year as my husband is a die hard fan.

I do agree with you about my Brother in law.. He seems very happy and settled now and is not drinking. My husband feels more strongly about it than I do, I guess I can only go by things I've read.

Glad to hear you got things sorted out with work, even if it isn't 100% what you wanted. Uncertainty is so draining!

Sunflower that holiday sounds fabulous . Will you be there for Xmas day ? Hope santa finds your little lad .

23/10/19

Breakfast: apple and carrots (120)
Lunch: instant noodles (the shameee, 498)
Dinner: slow cooked chicken casserole with peppers, mushrooms, onion, carrots, kidney beans, tinned tomatoes, red wine (275) half a baked potato (150)
Snacks: few glasses of wine (496) popcorn (200)

Total: 1739
Spending: £0
Side Hustle Earning: £15

The evening snacks/drinking is killing me offffff. What a waste of calories. I feel so shattered and drained by the end of the day that I feel like rewarding myself. I need to see "rewards" as putting healthy goodness in my tired body, not more shite. I love being at home with the baby but now the weather is turning our long walks out and busy days on the beach are being replaced by snuggles and games indoors which is harder mentally I think. And also means I'm not exercising as much. I like to be busy. I find that when he naps I want to be getting on with cleaning/batch cooking/catching up on food shopping/replying to friends but also am in desperate need of some quiet time where I can do nothing.

Tomorrow I'm meeting a pal for lunch (all this eating out too...not good!) and then hitting the gym for a swim. Will leave L in the creche so I can have an actual swim. I have my mother-in-law arriving on Friday morning from Austin. I'm sort of dreading it but she hasn't met the baby yet and so I'm very excited for them both to get to know each other.

Hi Petal, no, couldn't rob my parents of seeing his first Christmas so we get back a few days before Christmas. I can't wait to see him look at the Christmas decorations, Christmas seems so much more exciting with little ones!

Hi, Hana. Your holiday should be lovely, as does spending L's first Christmas with your parents. Well done on negotiating a work schedule that suits you more. Enjoy that swim xo

Yay for making magical memories!
