Flyer's diary

164! Wow! What's the long-term goal/plan, Flyer?
Also, well done for managing good nutrition when it was pretty much just fast food on offer - though the Chicken Tortilla soup sounds pretty good!

sounds really silly now, but my original goal was 190. frankly i have no idea. i can stay around 170 +/- a few being my semi-lazy self. this past weekend i was moving a lot. not only moving, but when that happens i rarely think about eating. i'm pretty sure i was close to three straight 20/4 IF days. i just had no time to eat much and it was concentrated in the late afternoon along with a few brews.

it's good to know the area well enough so i can avoid the McD's and BK type places. a couple good family-run Mex kitchens are another few of my favorites. have to admit i did stop at Denny's on the way home... for coffee...:)

Well, just stay healthy! And yes, it's definitely good to know where worst of the fast-food places are - but I think I'd find it pretty hard to avoid the

I'm very fond of Mexican and "Mexican" and all relevant variant styles of cooking - and in fact I've just downed a very pleasant glass of sangria! :)

after going through a fairly pricey car repair this past weekend, it was a huge smile to get this email message about a belt i bought a few years ago. if you need a belt you can hang a bunch of stuff on for a hike, these are the guys who can make one. i wrote to them thinking they might be able to shorten mine, albeit with a cosmetic hit...

"We have this cool thing we do for customers who loose a substantial amount of weight and can no longer wear the original belt. If you send us in the belt, we will send you a brand new belt for free.

You will have to pay for the shipping to us but we will pay for it back to you.

wow...!

just to show the difference between a belt and a useful belt... the black belt, not a bad piece of leather, is a nice standard belt you buy off the rack at most stores...

Alaska Tough is a fitting name.

Google search images never fail to produce a smile.
i don't think this one needs any caption...

"another sort of "useful" belt...?" ... i guess it did need one.

"a 6-pack of soda.... surrrrrrre." ... too easy.

...How tall are you?

I like the belt pictures.
i'm down to a fraction over 5' 11"... and probably still shrinking. i'd say the 164 was a bit of an anomaly as i've bounced back a few... probably a bit dehydrated at that weigh-in. i can't say i haven't still seen a VERY gradual drop still occurring. i wish i had kept a photo record of my gut... it does seem to be getting smaller, but i have a feeling a lot of that is just my body still adjusting to my new waist size. there is a bunch of skin still there that doesn't really need to be anymore. through attrition, i believe some cells just aren't being replaced. ... this could take a while.

the belt is essentially sold as a holster belt, but i use it more like a Batman utility belt.... base. i have a few handy collection sacks/ cases, sheaths, etc i have adapted to slide on. the downside is that i'll have about 6-7" less to work with the new belt ... :(

:rotflmao: Ah, the dangers of weightloss...

this likely has nothing to do with weight loss, but i am getting to feel young(er) ... occasionally. senior bus fare in town is only $1.25 (just bumped up from $1.10 ... :() ... if you're 65+ ... yesterday i got carded .... again. i really never saw this coming, but so far i'm having fun with it.

... yesterday i got carded .... again.
I envy you, I haven't been carded for anything since I was much younger. No one seems to question my age now! I think looking younger probably does have something to do with weight loss, you are looking better.

164 or even 170 is not bad for 5' 11".

being carded used to be a problem i had until i was in my early 40's. i reflect on it as... first you're happy... "here you go... you bet i'm 21" ... then it gets annoying... "seriously?" ... then it gets to be fun again... "really? ... you think i'm 21? ... gee, thanks".... then it gets annoying again... "com'on, really?...!".

this is probably the best indication of my current weight. i know a few months ago i would have felt better saying it was 170 and a month or two before... 172.5 was the most common reading as i remember. so i am still dropping... or probably more accurately, my body is adapting to a new size.

on the BMI scale for 71"... closer to 23 than 24... i'll take it.

this took me by surprise... until they turned red, i didn't even notice many peppers on this plant then within the past week, i've gotten about 2 dozen. though they are red, i'm pretty sure they are a type of Habenero. fairly hot from the bit i tried. somewhere between Jalapeno and Ghost.

looking forward to next spring. think i'll try growing from seeds. i've got a good stash so far... wrapped them up in coffee filters...

i'm starting a big pot of soup tomorrow. the only thing i saute before adding are onions so i'm going to throw a handful of these into that mix. these aren't as crazy hot as the ghost peppers, so half a dozen into 8+ quarts of soup should be nicely spicy.... ;)

Soup is so good. And well done on being a very healthy BMI! That is the dream for me.
