Cate's Diary

Added another Ryvita etc & a dollop of Greek yoghurt, some hemp seeds & black sesame seeds & did 5 km on my stationary bike. Plus half a banana. Lunch 413 cals. I still have 688 cals left, ignoring exercise cals. I can do this!

I ignore the exercise cals too! sounds like you are off to a great start!

Thanks, folks!
1337 cals incl. no wine :)
I must add that I was hungry all day. Tomorrow I will have a more substantial breakfast!

Wow, great start!! Hope you are having a nice big breakfast this morning with some healthy fats! Your food sounds yum!

Thanks, LaMa & Marsia xoxo
Getting back on track is difficult, but I am trying to take it one step at a time.
Breakfast this morning was half an avocado with a hard-boiled egg & some vinaigrette, followed by a small bowl of Greek yoghurt, some stewed rhubarb & a 1/2 teaspoon of hemp seeds & almond meal. 350 cals
I weighed this morning & have 10.5 kg to go. It was 11.5 when we got back from holiday. I can do this.....

You did a squat challenge at one time. Have you kept that up? Firing up those large muscle groups regularly helps you burn more energy over the day but more leg strength also helps people to stay active and independent for as long as possible.

I have been doing squats again. I really do want to start doing some weight training to improve my strength, but I just don't know where to start. Calling my cardio & getting an appointment & then hopefully getting the ok would be a good start. OK. I'll do it shortly & report back.
I have done well with food today. I had a stirfry for lunch, without any starchy carbs & then a little fruit. Dinner is going to be grilled salmon with a big salad. My calories after that will total 1295, so I have some up my sleeve if I get ravenous later on. G made some hummus today, so a few crackers with some hummus can be my standby.
I'm going to play golf tomorrow but it will be hard going as it will be very wet underfoot.
OK- that call....
Edit: made the call & have an appointment on Monday the 29th of July. He's a busy man. I do feel better for ringing.

Thank you. I have an aneurysm in the centre of my heart (enlarged ascending aorta). I picked up on it myself a few(4?) years ago. It's meant to be <2.5cm, but mine was 3.9. It hadn't grown at all 2 years ago. If it gets to 5 it's time to operate. Most people don't know they have them until it's too late, so I'm grateful that I was in tune with my body.
I'm not meant to lift anything heavy but I will talk to him about what I can do.

My own doctor wasn't worried but I insisted on a referral to a cardio as there is a family history of heart problems & my Dad died of a heart attack when he was 71. I'm not too worried.

I am going to start inputting my food into MFP the day before. I'm sure that will help me to limit how much I consume.
Tomorrow I'm having 1/4 an avocado & eggs on sour dough oat toast for BF.
A banana while I play golf.
Home-made pumpkin soup with 2 Ryvitas & hummus after golf for lunch.
Strirfry for dinner.
I'm allowing myself 1 piccolo of bubbly after golf, if I feel like it.
That's 1,303 cals. I'll need more tomorrow because of golf.
Today was 1,330.

Really glad you got that cardio apt. Hopefully, now that your life is less stressful you can do more varied forms of exercise and not worry if you do IF. I hope the weather is warmer for golf and you can chase away the winter blues!!

I'll just be a bit careful for now, but will wait until after I see him re IF & strength training. It's only getting to 10oC today, but I'm going anyway. Eating healthier & re-focussing is helping with the Winter blues xo
Maybe some pumpkin seeds with that soup or nuts with that banana?
G had suggested a dollop of yoghurt & seeds so I'll take notice of both of you & take a little container of that to add to my soup xo
