Milestones (Amy's diary)

This is a journey down a long road - and I find it cheers me up to notice the milestones I pass along the way. I have a page set out with every single short-term future milestone noted - I don't even want to think about the long-term, in case I get discouraged, but it's there in the back of my mind.
Right now, I've just achieved a goal - I'm out of the 190's Club! And I'm looking eagerly towards my next one: if I can lose just five more pounds I'll be the lightest I've been all century!! :jump:

That´s amazing, congratulations!

Oh, LaMaria! I think you missed the "if" - but just watch... I have every intention of getting there very, very soon!

Another milestone reached: under thirteen and a half stone!

Yes, I swap from one weight system to another, pounds and kilograms and stones - anything that can count as a milestone is good! It stops me getting bored or discouraged when any one set of numbers doesn't seem to change much. :p

Clothes can also be a good measure of progress - when something that was a touch too small starts to fit easily, and something that used to fit easily is now definitely too big. I might even start to think about buying something new!

Under 85 kg!

So that's another milestone, and now I'm starting (just starting) to have the confidence to think in more concrete terms about longer term goals. Everybody's different, but for me, to look too far ahead can be demotivating, as the vast distance to be covered seems simply too much, so I give myself these close-up goals instead.

So that's what's helping me for motivation. In terms of actual action, one thing that's working really well for me right now is to have fruit before breakfast. Breakfast is usually egg and bread, in one form or another, but these days I've been starting off with whatever fruit I like beforehand - it helps that it's summer, and there's lots of good fruit around!

Well done on the new milestone! I find eating veggies with my bread&eggs really helps with keeping me full longer. And fruit is just delicious.

Visiting family at the moment - and these scales here show me as about five pounds lighter than my home ones. Oh, how I wish they could be magically right.
I'll find out tomorrow, when I'm back home.
