88.2kg this morning

Great effort! Well done :)
Thanks. It was a longer ride but it felt much easier and I’ve recovered much better. Partly because I’m fitter and partly because the bike has been serviced really well. I’ll be upgrading the gear set and chain next weekend so that’ll make it feel even better.

Just got back from tonight’s ride. Took. Different route just to mix it up. Did a bit of exploring away from the traffic lights and buildings. A little country run up Gawler river road. Went 20km out, turned around and came back. I wanted to do more but Gawler river road isn’t exactly a smooth surface. Now my bum hurts

Well that was a good ride. Found a nice route which gives plenty of straights, some small steep inclines and a couple of long but gentle inclines. I think I’ll give it a go tomorrow night too.

I had to go a little earlier tonight because I’ve got a 6am flight (only for the day; I’m back tomorrow night by 9:30). I’m driving to 3km from the airport then parking up and riding to the gate.

Well that didn’t go to plan. Turns out my flight is actually 7:00 not 6:00 so I got up extra early for nothing AND after I’d parked and set up the bike ready to go I realised the front tyre was flat. I imagine I jammed it in the boot and gave it a pinch flat sooo I’ll try buy a tube today and fit it when I get home tonight.

Ok I did manage to get a tube today and I’ve fitted it now but for the life of me I cannot find my presta valve adaptor so I still can’t go for a ride today. I’ll grab a new one tomorrow morning so I’ll be able to ride off into the distance tomorrow night.

Ok so no ride yesterday and I woke up at 90.0kg today soooo I’ve changed my game plan. I’m going to break my rides up into 2 sessions at least 5 times weekly, allowing 2 days a week to sleep in or go to bed early and just do long rides instead of the 2.

I’m now finding 40kms quite easy so I’m not really getting any stretch out of it so I’m faced with a dilemma. Either I push harder and faster or I go longer. I don’t really have the patience for longer and longer rides and unless I can keep my heart rate up it’s not really worth it anyway.

I’m now going to do 2 20kms rides a day; (pushing out longer once I get used to it and faster) but at a higher speed/cadence.

Tonight I headed out an immediately ran into a problem. I popped the bead on the tyre I just replaced. I managed to deflate it enough to rebead it but as I struggle to pump it to the right psi with my busted elbow I had to walk to the servo to inflate it. After that I rode off no problems until the 13km mark where my shifter worked loose and I low and behold did not have a screw driver with me so I went home (luckily close by) and tightened it. I then headed out for a 14km sprint.

At 6.5km I was averaging 30km/h which actually includes a 2km climb at about 20km/h so I was pretty pleased. Come 7.5km I was down to 29 then got traffic and slowed right down unfortunately.

Anyway I’m happy with tonight’s effort and looking forward to heading out pre breakfast tomorrow.

I used to be very private too - especially at work! What I have found by letting people in, by being open/transparent/vulnerable even, is that I'm seen as more human and more authentic. Opening up is a good thing in my opinion!!

And wooo hoo for baggy skinny clothes!!

True but I’m just not interested in being an open book at work. Maybe one day and maybe one workplace but not now.

Well this morning I’m not going for a ride. I hate mornings and didn’t sleep well last night so I’m staying in bed, cuddling my dog and will get up in an hour to go to work. I WILL ride tomorrow morning though.

I'm not great in the mornings either. Hope your day is not stressful & that you get through it ok. I think when the seasons change I sleep poorly. Soon we'll be burrowing down under a doona!

Oh my day will be great. I’m very lucky. I have more autonomy in my role than I ever could have imagined, I have the freedom from my supervisor to do what I need to do to get the job done, I don’t EVER get micromanaged, I love my team and I love my job.

I don’t know why I need to continually learn the same thing. CHECK TYRE PRESSURE BEFORE LEAVING HOME.

When I was only doing 10-15km a night I didn’t need to check the pressure very often but now I’m doing 40, quite a high pace in some areas and over some reasonably rough roads I really need to check it every day.

Tonight I intended to go only 20km so I set off going quite fast but was feeling the pain in my quads after only 1.5km (slight incline). At about the 7km mark it dawned on me that I hadn’t checked my pressures. Long story short I only made it 15km (one lap of the block) before I just didn’t have the legs to continue. Got home, checked the pressures. 81psi on the rear and 65 on the front (both should have been 120!

Ah well it’s not the distance that matters. It’s the intensity and I sure got the intensity up tonight.

Aaaaand no ride in the morning now. I’m sitting here in my lounge room about to get up to go to bed. Not even any where near my bike and the tube lets go. Another flat. I can’t believe this.
