Ashleigh's Diary

Hello Everyone!

I've done private diaries before but never public ones, I'm hoping that knowing there are people reading my progress will help to keep me motivated.
I just weighed myself and I'm 18st 12lb (I'm 5ft 9in) which I think is the heaviest I've ever been; last year I did quite well and managed to get my weight down to 15st (I know that's still not great but it was a start!) but I've managed to pile it all back on again.
I've cut right back again and as soon as I get some money (hopefully the 20th) I'll be getting a swimming membership at my local gym - I like swimming because once I'm in the water it feels like people can't really see me anymore.
I'm just starting my last year of university and I don't want to still be so fat when I go to my graduation, all other goals I've set myself have come to nothing - Prom, leaving 6th form, starting uni, my sister's hen do, my sister's wedding, going on holiday - so I really need to make this one!

So I am aiming to post at least every other day and will be totally honest with myself about how I'm doing. Wish me luck! xx

Hi, Ashleigh & welcome to the forum. I think posting in this forum has kept me focussed on looking after my health, both physically & mentally. It helps clarify things for me sometimes & I love being able to give support to others & appreciate the support I receive. You have found a supportive & non-judgemental place & I hope you find it a positive & helpful experience.
Swimming is great exercise & I would love to swim regularly. What you eat is the most important thing with weight-loss. What changes will you make? Will you count calories, or cut out certain foods? Having a set plan is a good idea as is being prepared in advance for times when you may be tempted to eat unhealthy food. There are so many little changes that can make such a difference. Without knowing the sort of food you eat, it's hard to make suggestions, other than the obvious ones, like cutting out or down on junk food, drinking water etc.
I'm glad you found the forum. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me. Cheers, Cate.

Hi Ashleigh
Ive had a few of those missed goals myself. Ive been doing a diary for less than a week but I think it will make all the difference. If you're having a weak moment instead of giving into it come on here, write it down and get some support.
Be determined this can be it!
