First stop: Spartan Turkey

Well done, LJ! I find the whole idea of jury duty... weird. Or maybe I´m weird. I think decisions which impact other people´s future so much should be taken by professionals on the basis of facts (wishful thinking, I know) rather than how well you (or your lawyer) can influence a lay-man audience.

Well done on the food preparation LJ! As Benjamin Franklin once said,"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail".
:iagree: with Lama. The whole idea of juries having such a responsibility is scary.

Finally remembered to weigh myself this morning, 367.6, which has me down about 7 lbs in a little over two weeks. I was hoping for that magical 5 lbs in one week, but I'm still happy with the drop so far. It no longer hurts to sit or wear pants, which is a stupid goal, but it's one I had in my mind for months.

Anyway, got out of jury duty, they didn't need me. LaMa and Cate, I hear ya, but it's a right of the accused to be tried by a jury of peers. It's probably as effective as any other means of justice. Except Batman, he's the bomb.

Next couple days should be same ol' same ol'. And I gots to do lots of work this morning! I'll check in later today with everyone else's entries.

Did someone say Batman?

And congrats on the loss, even if it isn't what you were hoping for.

Edit: Oh, and don't feel bad for making "stupid" goals. I've been making them every step of the way so far.

Mine include, "Hey, I can walk for 5 minutes and not feeling like jumping off a bridge" and "Hey, my belt suddenly isn't trying to rip my stomach open". Huge improvements for me personally, but not something I see other people jumping with excitement over. :p

Yup, goals are personal, and the only person they have to make sense to is the one setting them. Congratulations on reaching a goal!

To quote the poet laureate of Compton, Ice Cube "It was a good day"

Health-wise, anyway. Ate proppa breakfast and lunch, skipped snack, had a turkey burger for dinner (OK, two, damn picky kids wouldn't touch theirs), went for a muggy walk, and rowed. Came in well under calories, in spite of the two TBs. Weighed in at 366, still going in the right direction.

As he is one of my favorite people of all-time, I too also like to quote Ice Cube. Although, I've found it quite difficult to casually squeeze "Yo, turn him over wit a spatula, now we got Kentucky Fried cracka, mess wit da Cube you get punked quick, pig, 'cause I'm the wrong n*gga to fuck with" into a conversation. Some day. Some day.

Weekend addition update:
Ate a lot yesterday, still came in under goal courtesy of a 1.5 mile hike with my perpetual motion daughter. The hike included a 400-ft elevation change in .3 mile.

Re: Ice Cube, I'm only truly familiar with his NWA lyrics. Which I won't post here, but I have dazzled a couple karaoke audiences with them.

Great activity LJ enjoy that daddy time...it goes fast. My oldest son is a Jr. At Baylor. My middle son is plebe at the Naval Academy and my little girl is 15 and busy a lot with her 15 year old stuff. My nest is almost empty. Maybe I will get some grand babies in a few years.

Weekend is over, and things went as planned. Saturday night we went to visit some friends, which included steak, fries, fried squash, beer and cake. I enjoyed all of them, but put a mental limit on each. With the exception of a little extra steak, I adhered to them all. According to MyFitnessPal, I burned over a thousand calories hiking - I don't know how accurate that was, but if you asked me at the peak, I would have agreed heartily!

Yesterday I had the kids to myself (wife works retail, and Sunday was her punishment for working retail). I definitely had a surplus of eggs - leftovers from the day before got converted into a sandwich, and the friends have chickens, so we had to have some fresh eggs for breakfast. Oh well. I took the kids to a BDay party, where there was plenty of pizza to be had, but I only had one piece. I gobbled up lots of veggies instead.

I don't think I have any big challenges this week, though I'm a single dad all weekend (J is visiting a friend in western NY for his 40th BDay), so I'm hoping not to stress out too much.

Sounds like you´re getting used to dealing with everyday exceptions again. I don´t like it at all, but it´s simply true that we have to limit ourselves...

Ugh, shitty day today. Had to stay home with my son, and he kept declaring he wanted this, that and t'other, only to decide he dinna want them. So there they sat, within arm's reach. And reach I did. Sigh... Did go for a walk this evening, at least, so I'll be less above goal.
