Good day all.
I am new here but not to weight loss. I have struggled with obesity my entire life. With this struggle I have learned a lot of good information.
I was fat as a young child. I was always the heaviest kid in my class and by high-school I was the heaviest person in the entire school.
I was fairly active participating in many sports. (Basketball, baseball, track, and wrestling)
I will save you many years and start at 2010.
By 2010 I was close to 500 pounds. I hade tried weight watchers, diet center, all kinds of pills and shakes, Atkins, diets.
I purchased thousands of dollars in exercise equipment and had failed at everything.
At least I thought I failed. I will give you something I recently learned. I DID NOT FAIL! I know this know because I have figured out what actually works.
Don't get me wrong I have not lost all my weight yet but my wife and I are finally losing the excess weight and not struggling or killing our selves do do so.
Also I am not selling anything my information is free and I will continue adding to this telling my story. It is just an epic story and will take some time to tell.

In 2010 I went to the Dr. I hurt and I mean really hurt. Everywhere was pain. My knees burned my back felt like I was receiving some kind of shock therapy/ torture.
I remember for me to walk from the front of the Walmart to the back to use the restroom was devastating. I had to lean on the cart and the pain and exertion was so extreme I was sweating and gasping for air from both the pain and the walk. By the time I would get to the restroom I more than likely started to have an accident and by the time I would go to the bathroom I was not able to keep myself free from urine or whip properly. Needless to say I was in a very bad state.
Back to my Dr visit. I clearly remember my Dr at the end of our visit saying. It is rime for me to start making arrangements for my wife and two young daughters because I was not going to be around for much longer.

At this Dr visit he took blood to do a full work up and set up my second sleep study. ( the first sleep study said I was fine)
So I go do this sleep study and low and be hold I have sleep apnea but severe sleep apnea like my oxygen was bottoming out to the point they called in a special on call medical staff. Once they put a machine on me it took a pressure of 20 to get my events to come within a acceptable range. When I left in the morning they sent me directly to a DME to get a machine and fitted for a mask because I was not to go one night without it. In fact they told me not to even take a nap without it.
As soon as I started my sleep therapy I was feeling better, more alert than I had for years.
As my blood test came back the Dr said I had to come see him. So now scared something even worse has now shown up i go to the office with a knot in my stomach.
I weigh in and boom I am down 10 pounds in like a week. So I am happy but praying it is not from cancer or something like that.
Dr starts going over the results. No cancer. Whew! He looks at me and says "on top of being obese, you are starving to death " now that statement made my brain stop. I mean I could feel everything locking up. Smoke had to role from my ears from this event.
I was confused, baffled, bewildered, dumbfounded.
So he starts explaining the tests and how nutrient deficient I am.
So a light bulb goes off in my head I need better nutrition.
He also informs me I am diabetic and need to start meds asap. I told him I wanted to go over everything with my wife first.
To give one example of my deficiencies my vitamin D was a 2. It is supposed to be 35+
"It is the lowest I have ever seen" he says going on about even his nursing home patients aren't this low. So he starts me on 5,000 units a day. Come back in two weeks for a retest.
So I go home with a plan, everything my family eats has to be nutrition dense.
I go home and throw almost all our food away.
I was going to live! I was going to be a dad for many years! I was going to be a husband!
I had already been given the make arrangements speech so what was going to happen. I keel over dead. At least I would die trying!
Two weeks go by now back to the Dr.
I am down another 10 pounds whhoooHooo! They take blood and away I go, I am on a mission.
Two days latter Dr. Office calls. Come in this afternoon. I am thinking Oh crap what now.
Dr. Starts out with your vitamin D is only a 5! Have you been taking what I told you bla bla, bla. Yes I had, 5,000 units a day. Hmm ok take 10,000 units 2 times a day call me if it starts bothering your stomach.
Dr. Continues your blood sugar has dropped dramatically he has never seen such a drop in such a short time. From 220 to 125. Let's hold off on diabetic meds for now and watch.
Remember I changed all my food to nutritionally dense foods. So I was searching for the most nutritional food I could find. Kale, broccoli , fish, fruit ect.
In this time I found super foods. Like Chia seeds, quinoa, spirulina, ect.
I also researched juicing and organic foods.

That's quite a start Corey. I'm not generally a fan of fads and superfoods, but I can see how some people might need them. Go you!

Hi, Corey & welcome to the forum. I may not comment on your diary every single post, but I will be reading it. May I ask what you weigh right now?

As of 2 weeks ago I was at 378. I had a serious yo-yo effect. summary I started at 500 got down to 362. Went up to 460. In January I took everything I learned and started over. So sense February I have lost 82 pounds but with my current program I have been consistently losing 5 pounds a week. So I am probably closer to 90 pounds down.

Hi Corey you are an inspiration. Great job!! I would like to know more about your daily menu for meals so I can implement them in my diet.

Ok a more accurate current update.
I dropped by the Dr office to step on the scale as of today I am currently at 363 pounds. So real close to a 100# sense February.

I am working on getting everything together in an easy to share format.

Ok back to 2010. After addressing sleep apnea, and nutritional dense foods. I was feeling good. So I tried to get into an exercise routine.
I went to a local rehab clinic that also let people workout for $15 a month.
The head therapist started off by showing me one of the machines. This machine also had a built in Hart monitor at 15 seconds in the monitor jumped on. At 190bpm by 23 seconds it had jumped to 210 bpm. The therapist immediately made me sit down and grabbed another monitor and put on me and started physically take my pulse.
She said that was enough for today.
Later that afternoon my Dr office calls.
They inform me due to my risk I could not workout at the physical therapy office.
The next day determined with the thought if I am going to die, I am going to die trying. I went to a new local gym. ANYTIME FITNESS. I ask the owner if they let fat people work out there. He responded with a dumbfounded look "well ya" so I responded with Sign me up.
A new Era begins.

Kill or cure, I guess. I can understand that the PT was worried about letting you work out but keeping you under surveillance while working to get better would certainly have been better than just sending you away!

Late 2010
I started working out at any time and I mean working. At least 45 min every day. I also spent a ton of time researching exercises. I was in a 1200 calorie a day diet. The weight was still coming off.
By February 2011 I had lost 60 pounds and was a inspiration not only to many in the gym but in my family and community.
I started focusing on muscle gain because more muscle burns more calories. This was a stumbling Block for me.
As I was trying to build muscle I gave myself the green light for muscle building foods and enough calories to build muscles.
My wife lost her job which was our only source of income. With two kids we where in panic mode to say the least.
At this time the owner of anytime fitness offered me a job to manage anytime fitness. How could I refuse it was like a dream come true.
However with the thought of muscle building and reduced income my diet took a back seat. " I was ok to make exceptions" I didn't want to be to strict on my diet I could cause myself to fail.
