Men's Opinion on Women's Weight Training

What to men think about women who weight train?

  • It's great, more women should do it.

  • It's okay as long as they don't get too bulky.

  • Women shouldn't weight train. It's for men only.

Basically, from a physical standpoint, I'm attracted to women who are 'fit'. Not huge muscles, not couch-potato induced flabola, not skinny anorexic twigs - but women who you can tell care about their bodies visa vi through, diet and exercise, which would include some resistance training.

I have yet to meet a man who though that a woman weight training was unattractive or inappropriate.

Oh,,, there is nothing finer! IMHO! Nae is right.

What I would liek to see more of, is ego free weight training. I went up to a "lifter" and asked him to go and tell that lil lady over there that she was doing great. "NO way" then i explained it was my wife, and she could use a good word.... you know, encourage her, and he wouldn't. He was too tuff. lil does he know how "WEAK HE IS- STUCK UP PRIDE *** BOY!" don;t even get me started.

Not only the precious ladies, but -Positive re-enforcement, encouragement and kindness also belong in the free weight area.

IMHO

I agree with your point, but you could have left the three-letter F word out of it. I'm pretty offended by that.

Hmm, yes. I run into guys with that kind of attitude. I've learned to shrug it off because I know there are nice guys out there too.

FF is a good dude. Im sure he didn't mean to offend you or anyone. FF posts freely and very openly, and personaly I wouldnt have him any other way. Take it lightly, I am sure he meant no harm. :)

FF======quit having convulsions with the F-word.................Dude!............wad up with this, man?........LOL...... ;)

NICE PICS FF!! I haven't seen the second one before. Gosh, I think I'm in love!

My GF told me a while ago "Fredrik, I don't really care that much about getting strong, I just want to get big"
I'm so proud :p

In one sense I'd say who gives a damn what anyone else likes other than yourself? Doing what you want to do and like to do with passion is always the best road to take, apart from what anyone else thinks. There will always be someone who is attracted to that, and that's the person you want to keep.

That said, I don't rightly understand the pink dumbbell school of weight lifting. I've seen them at the corporate gym I work out in - they'll pick up light weights and do rep after rep after rep, and I really don't understand what that's suppose to be doing. It's an honest question, I really would like to know.

In contrast, there's a woman there that I see from time to time who is tall, lean and muscular - she and I were talking the one day about lifting and she was saying she really enjoys lifting free weights and was seeing a lot better results than she was "doing the machines". Also, I happened to be lifting one time around the same time she was, and she was making exhaling noises - nothing major, just what you should do when lifting (no she wasn't grunting or yelling "EXPLODE!" lol). Between sets she apologized for making so much noise and I told her that just showed she was working. What I didn't tell her was that the way she was working out was totally hot - she was there for a purpose and was willing to sweat/work toward that goal. Thankfully I was in the middle of my workout at the time or I'd've more than likely gotten caught staring. Which goes to say, keep doing what you enjoy with passion, somebody will notice.

Maybe I just can't tell when you're being sarcastic. Was your comment about women not understanding serious or were you just making fun of that other guy's comment? If you were serious, then that was pretty rude too.

oh spiceypumpkin- you are falling for me fast! hahahaha

I am not offensive.... I just don't think words matter all that much honey.

Woman are far superior to ME and I've got one up on most men.

i received an "infraction" for using the "F" word and that let's me know it really is an "ISSUE" with the community- hysensiitive sissies-- ok just kidding!

But seriously "spicey one" I wish to be a breath of fresh air, fluid, and in harmony with all things.

in addition- i am an extrmem athlete and radical beyond what most can probably imagine.

So- It's a tough time being me.

The entire point of your original post is being missed over one word. One who has been on this forum long enough, knows how FF posts, and would most likely not be offended. And, if one does get offended by a "Misplaced word" that was not intended in its "use" to offend anyone, and the original poster apologizes, this should be the end of it. He apologizes and means it. There is nothing else to do other than set a course to rephrase words. THEN GET OVER IT! FF's positive contribution to this forum far outweighs a small misunderstanding, and he deserves no "Infraction".

I think the word "bulky" is an subjective term as well. Bulky to the thin, just starting out weight lifting woman may be simply a little muscle that defines her body, thats shes just not used to (but looks better than her bones!). A seasoned female lifter may be just talking bigger muscles that begin to look more masculine than feminine (TO HER) because of their pump. Bulky to a male is big and ripped. It all just depends. My husband met me when I was really lean and skinny from ONLY swimming a thousand hours a day. I lay muslce down quickly and I eat VERY healthfully, so when I started weight lifting, running, and training I became very FIT with a lot of lean muscle...what HE would call "bulk" (if I get too serious in the weight room). To an average gym attender they'd call it "toned". ha.

ps I posted what I think of this whole thing in your infraction thread FF

honestly, if you've been to high school your skin should probably be thick enough to take reading a derogatory term for homosexuals. like you said, you should've learned to "shrug it off"

If I'm to understand that you actually contacted an administrator about FFs use of words... wow, wtf?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I got over it. Did I not make that clear? I also said I agreed with his point. I don't want to make a big deal of this. Why don't we just put it to rest? You can't change the fact that I was offended by it at first, but I know he didn't have any bad intentions. All is forgiven.

So there, it's over.

Understood. I have nothing more to add. Hope your day goes well.
