Some time back I heard that Pros put on about 6lbs. a year.
IF* that is correct please say ya or na.
When I started really working out in late jan.07 I was at 163lbs.
Now almost 8mo. later I've been around 170lbs.
My question is should I be happy with that results or could I have done more?
(you can see pics in the gallery)

Thanks, Alex

I have seen your pictures in the gallery and I think you just need to look at them to see you should be happy with the results.

You didn't look very muscular atall at the start and after 1 year you made great progress and people could find it hard to recognise you at first glance. Is your goal to put on the size for competitions eventually or is it just to look good and feel healthy?

If it is the latter then you should take how you look and feel as indicators of how happy you should be with your progress. Now I don't know how you feel, but from the pictures you look good mate. Impressive progress for a year visually for sure!

Thanks very much for the confidence boost:yelrotflmao:
It's 5:00 and I'm going to the gym so I'll post back later.

but seriously is 6lbs. good for a year.

If your goal is a gain of lean mass 6lbs would be on the low end of what can be gained over the course of a year.

A 1 year gain can be 5lbs to 30lbs of lean mass. Depending on training experience, and how disciplined you are.

As Dan said. Be happy with your results. You can take what you have learned this year and have even better results next year.

I'm 21 & I've been told, wait till the mid 20s and and I'll be able to gain alot more per year.

the average trainee has the ability to gain around 12-20bs muscle in 1 year.
if diet and training is very good, the average guy can put on 1/4-1/2lb(tops) muscle per week.

in my opinion, 6lbs in a year is good if you got stronger.
strength training wont build as much muscle as hypertophic training but it will build muscle if you eat; and if the strength was gained, im proud :D

if it wasnt, then 6lbs still a good step forward

it looks like you have gained 6 to 7 lbs of lean muscle-mass,you could have gained 20 but no dount some of that would be fat,IMO you have done really good, you must be doing what is called slow bulking which IMO over the years is better,ie if you quick bulk and gain fat it gets harder to get rid of the fat.

if you are not happy with the gains and want a bit more IMO just up your cals a bit not to much and see how you go on,but again IMO you have done fantastic and you can really see a big change.:)

if the strength was gained, im proud :D

Thanks. Strenth was gained, I went being crushed by a 95lb. barbell to benching 225lbs. in these 6 months and I'm going for the 300 class:eek2:
witch isn't to bad for 170lb.+/- guy.
