Advise and help on new lifter :)

Hey people, Im new to this forum, and was hoping that you guys could help me in so much wanted info...
I need advice on lifting and equipment to buy, some few details -

1. Im needing some info on good sites or shops to buy lifts from in the UK
2. What KG should I lift ? (recommended, Id say im average for my age of 16)(sorry im abit young)
3. Once found site what brand / equipment to buy ? this is including bench and the weights and also any other smaller hand weights (can't spend a huge amount, just starter equipment, I can upgrade once I gain more income)

And the last thing, exercises whilst working out, such as push-ups, squat's and all the other movements and in what quantity...

If you could help me out, it would be a huge help to me, thankyou in advance..
Much appreciated, thanks for you're time, Wg0

p.s sorry to put into bullet point form !

Sorry I posted in wrong section ! sorry for any inconvenience

Try before you buy

You might consider joining a Gym first and getting a feel for it before you invest in any equipment. Most people that buy work out equipment do not use it.

there is a problem in itself, then nearest gym does not allow people under 20 to enter it... then next nearest one is about 1 hour drive away, thats too far, I will be using my'n as many times as possible.

try those two, when you decide what you need post it up and im sure the guys will help, some type of powergage/rack,bench,free-weights (olympic) would be best IMO.

im from the uk and when i started weight lifting i bought a bench and 145 kg olympic set worth of weights cost me about £320 deal. i got mine from powerhouse. remember to get an nice and strong bench that holds a good ammount of weight, as u get stronger the more weight u will want to lift! some cheap and nasty ones can brake quite easily.

ive also ordered from

Thanks for all you're help, greatly appreciated, I will take a look in a few hours :)

Thanks again, I'll post up what I think sounds good

Right Im thinking these weights -

i dont think the bars included on them...

maybe get something like

not sure about the bench though, you want something so you can pull down the weights for a bench press, and (also high sides for squats maybe?)

i had a look on powehouse and i couldnt really see a good one myself.

maybe

but thats abit pricey

Thanks alot for the input, I like it, any suggestions on dumbbells ?
I can't spend to much more though :)

Thanks again for all you're input, one last favor after that, I need to know excersises with and without weights and dumbbells for certain parts of body growth...

Or if there is someone I could find instead of making you write them out, would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi!

I'm 15 and I'm almost 16 and I've been lifting for about 2 years now. I can help you with some of those excersizes and the sets and reps you could do if you tell me what your goal is (strength, mass, power, endurance, tone, etc.)

Sorry If i repeat anything by the way, I haven't read all the replies in this forum.

I live in USA so I'm not sure about the stores where you life but at a department store you can usually find a good set of dumbbells (1 inch diameter) where you screw the ends on and since you're just starting that should be the best for you to get right now. Don't buy any heavy equipment just yet, and if you can buy it all in a set to save money.

While you're waiting to get the equipment you should do some pushups and other body weight exercisesto prepare using your body weight first..

I'm not sure how physically strong you are, so start off doing 4 sets of 10 pushups with about 1 minute and a half break in between. Do this every other day and try to move up a bit each time, whether by adding more reps or less break. For instance, say, once you are at the point where you can do 4 sets of 15 with 45 seconds break inbetween you should lift (or before, or after this point. This really helps, I didn't do it when I first started lifting but its ab ig help to get you started)

So if you want help setting up a workout just let us know what your goals are and I'll try to help ya.

Thanks, great help ! This might seem abit strange but I have some many questions, would I be able to get hold of you're email adress instead of spamming this forum ? (sounds like you know exactly what to do)

I don't know exactly what to do, as different people need different types of routines. And I'm sure there are much more experienced lifters than me. But I can give you some general ideas. I'll give you my email in a private message though.

Actually I ahven't had an account long enough to post PMs, you can send me a private message of your email and I'll email you though.
